ACLU: We’ll Determine Whether Illegal Alien Law Is OK

Posted on November 10, 2008

Good thing we have the ACLU around to determine whether or not laws supported by a majority (similar to Prop 8 in California) are OK

Voters in Columbia County (Oregon) gave strong approval to a ballot measure that cracks down on employers caught hiring illegal immigrants.

According to the measure, the Columbia County Board of Commissioners must fine an employer that hires illegal immigrants $10,000 for a first violation.

For a second violation, the board must seek to revoke the employer’s business licenses and permits.

The Columbia County law has a few other aspects. The county has to contact local police and federal immigration officials about suspected illegal workers. It also must maintain a database of violations and require all county employers to use E-Verify, a free federal program that checks employment eligibility.

Dave Fidanque, executive director of Oregon American Civil Liberties Union, said the ACLU is reviewing whether to challenge the law approved Tuesday by 57 percent of Columbia County voters.

“There’s a lot of frustration on the part of all Americans in terms of how our immigration laws have been enforced,” he said. “But having local governments stepping in and carrying out what is a federal obligation is not the answer.”

So, first we have the ACLU out there to make a determination on whether they will undermine 57% of the voters in Columbia County, and second, they are (again) pushing the meme that illegal immigration is only a federal obligation, proving once again that the ACLU has never read the full Constitution, ie, 9th and 10th Amendments.

Tell you what, Dave: how about we have someone kidnap a loved one of yours. They’ll take that loved one to a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. Kidnapping is a federal crime. But, the feds are kinda busy. The local cops and sheriff’s department know where the kidnappers are. But, they aren’t going to bother, because it is a federal obligation. Sound good?

Between putting together all these new “citizens” AND the Obamer Youth, they’ll have a mighty fine army to round up all us recidivist/racist crackers who object to der Obamanfuhrer’s “Change”.

Hmmm … I wonder how well “Deuschland Uber Alles” will translate to rap.

Not well. At least those totalitarians could read, write, invent, and do math. The new totalitarians are stone-age tribesmen. Not only will the trains not run on time, the trains will stop working in short order. Everyone will wistfully remember the time when we had food and medicine.
