Five things that are creepy about the change.gov website

1. There is a website. Called Change.gov. I could stop right there. That’s creepy because a transition team’s website called, oh, for example “44thPresident.gov” is not sufficiently impressive. Here’s what’s really creepy about it, though. Don’t think of the word “change” there as a noun, or a verb, but as a command. Think of it as a command with the suffix .gov behind it. That gives me the willies right there.
2. It’s called Change.gov (part 2). Oh, and it’s a little juvenile to name an official United States government website after your campaign slogan (which was also Bill Clinton’s slogan, wasn’t it?). It has the feel of the kind of name a new student body president would give to her website — an American President, not so much. Could you imagine Abe Lincoln calling his website www.Honesty.gov? Not a grownup Abe Lincoln, is my guess.
3. OTRANS PRODUCTION SERVER. I tried to access the site when I first heard of it but apparently before it was ready for the public. It asked me for a username and password to get to the Otrans Production Server. The more I repeat those three words, the more I think of people-eating communist robots. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because it’s an anagram for “an undercover torpor sits”.
4. There is no such thing as the Office of the President-Elect, yet change.gov says it’s the website of that non-existant office. On November 7th, 2008, the office that Barack Obama holds is US Senator. Barack Obama’s public office will be US Senator until January 20, 2009. So, the title of the website being “Office of the President-Elect” is just a little weird.
5. Nearly everything Change.gov says. My wife tells me that reading the “service” section conjured images of the video for Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall Part 2. In the future, much electronic ink will be devoted to whether or not the words “universal” and “voluntary” should ever be next to each other, and so for now I will leave commentary bout Obama’s “America Serves” plans to others. One last thing about that section, though. There a quote at the top. Obama is now quoted without attribution to a particular speech or something similar, and doesn’t even say that the quote is from Obama. It’s just there, as if we are to imagine the words in red letter.

Don’t forgot the official “Hey just in case you forgot I am the president-elect” lectern sign.

Of course nothing like the Constitution will get in the way of not recognizing that one (even if it actually existed) does not hold the Office of President-elect until the votes of the electoral college are counted and read in the Senate.
See Art. II Sec. 1 CL. 3, superseded by the Twelfth Amendment and the Twentieth Amendment.
I love this from the service page:
Obama and Biden will establish a new American Opportunity Tax Credit that is worth $4,000 a year in exchange for 100 hours of public service a year.
So, he is going to basically pay idiots $40 and hour to clean roads?
He will effectively work at undercutting President George Bush during the next 3 months. Just as he did in Iraq – telling the Iraqi’s to delay reaching agreement on force deployment with the Bush administration.
Already democrats in Congress are urging him to give direction so they can begin his policies now rather than waiting for the inauguration. The arrogance of Obama and the Dems will be breathtaking.
Change.gov is fraudulent. It is NOT an official US Government web site. Go to page view and you can see it is copyrighted to a 501 c 4 .org.
Everything about The One is a fraud.
Yes, I have to agree. It is rather creepy.
GSA and NARA are allowed to create the
websites which allow information for the

“When you choose to serve — whether it’s your nation, your community or simply your neighborhood — you are connected to that fundamental American ideal that we want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not just for ourselves, but for all Americans. That’s why it’s called the American dream.”
Choose to serve? Mandatory service is not a choice.
Being connected to the ideals of America means protecting the rights of all so that each individual may enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
In Obamaworld, the government will force us to make that happen for each other.
So, not only do the productive people have to give their money to slackers, now they have to work to give them other things.
Kind of makes the whole “liberty” part of it pointless, don’t you think?
You all need to relax.
It wasn’t an ordinary election.
He wasn’t an ordinary candidate.
It won’t be an ordinary presidency.
His camp is experimenting with “Government 2.0″ –New territory. New times.
And my hunch is that the majority of America is reacting positively to the site.
I think that I have a plan for the future.
The Republican future.
Don’t forget him endorsing slavery. I’ve got the link on my page. It’s funny how he changed it though.
I enjoy your blog and I’m willing to blog roll you if you’re willing to return the favor. Let me know.
Change? My shattered a**! The only change is from our pocket to his buddies. USELESS COMMUNIST SCUMBAG!
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IS A TRAITOR.
Check out the Comfortably Numb lyrics too.
The Obama Presidency is a trip
A “production server” is a server for public use. Many companies and websites have a production server and a test server. The test sever tests new code and applications, the production server is for actual use.
The rest of the stuff is freaky.
What creeps me out is the “Civil Rights” page.
It’s more like a “Seizure of Civil Rights” page.
Did a Whois of otrans.net.
