IBD/TIPP: Obama +2, under 50%

Posted on November 2, 2008

Hope for the Eeyores!

The race tightened again Sunday as independents who’d been leaning to Obama shifted to McCain to leave that key group a toss-up. McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates.

What’s so sweet about these projections is that the Obama leaning portion of the undecideds are breaking to McCain. That means the Republican + Independent portion will follow en masse. There is McMentum and McCain + Palin are peaking at just the right time while Barack Hussein Obama is losing his mojo. Then extrapolate and look at Pennsylvania – where McCain & Palin are closing hard, it’s down to 4% (within the margin of error) and 9% undecided. There’s probably another 3% – 4%, either within that 9% undecided and/or the stated Democrat poll portion at large, who will vote for McCain in the solitude of the voting booth but never admit to another Democrat or pollster. Given the odds, it’s still a longshot – but IMO it’s a good bet – McCain & Palin have the momentum and will cobble together an electoral college victory that will stun the pundits + media.
