Jones-Kelley Ordered Employee To Snoop On Joe

Posted on November 1, 2008

As DrewM points out at Ace of Spades HQ, Team McCain needs to have an ad out on this in Ohio. Heck, they should put together a national ad, showing what life would be like under an Obama presidency, where, if you disagree, you will be investigated

Vanessa Niekamp said that when she was asked to run a child-support check on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher on Oct. 16, she thought it routine. A supervisor told her the man had contacted the state agency about his case.

Niekamp didn’t know she just had checked on “Joe the Plumber,” who was elevated the night before to presidential politics prominence as Republican John McCain’s example in a debate of an average American.

The senior manager would not learn about “Joe” for another week, when she said her boss informed her and directed her to write an e-mail stating her computer check was a legitimate inquiry.

The reason Niekamp said she was given for checking if there was a child-support case on Wurzelbacher does not match the reason given by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Director Helen Jones-Kelley said her agency checks people who are “thrust into the public spotlight,” amid suggestions they may have come into money, to see if they owe support or are receiving undeserved public assistance.

Niekamp told The Dispatch she is unfamiliar with the practice of checking on the newly famous. “I’ve never done that before, I don’t know of anybody in my office who does that and I don’t remember anyone ever doing that,” she said today.

First of all, as has been said many times, isn’t this grounds for a criminal investigation of Jones-Kelley? Unauthorized access to personal records? Second, isn’t this a violation of the code of conduct for Ohio employees? I work for a really, really big company, and it would be grounds for discipline up to and including termination. And I have seen this in action. Not against me, but, other employees. This goes for other companies, as well. Of the employees involved, the only ones not terminated were those who owned up to it and had clean records. Jones-Kelley lied.

Third, wasn’t it the Left who pitched hissy fits over a simple program that cross-referenced phone numbers called to determine if there were terrorism links, and no other personal data was provided without an actual warrant? Yes, they did.

Anyhow, Sue, Joe, Sue!

Niekamp told the Dispatch that she’s seen people get fired for unauthorized records checks, and that she herself fired one employee for the violation of public trust. This has gone beyond just a mere firing. It now looks as though Helen Jones-Kelley’s staff engaged in an attempt to obstruct justice, and Jones-Kelley’s lie about the Famous People Records Check appears to be part of it.

Imagine what would happen if Joe the Plumber asked the ACLU to represent him in this matter.

Joe the plumber was right to be suspicious of Obama’s tax
plans. Once Obama and Pelosi have taken all the rich
people’s money and driven the economy into the ground, they’ll
come after the middle class looking for more.
Welfare and the dole can only be supported by working
people in the end. After all it’s patriotic to pay higher taxes!

This kind of crap has been going on for years.

Team Clinton perfected the art back in the 90’s.

    Welcome to the revolution!

This woman needs to be punished for what she did.

Joe said himself he owed no child support because he has his son.

He also said he and his xwife gets along just fine.and have been for 9 years.

Obamas campaing people out to be punished to the most for having this woman to do this.

  5. Frightened on November 1st, 2008 2:30 pm

What a sad day in Ohio politics, especially when the Governor has stated the action was non-partisan. Are you kidding! Investigate Joe the plumber, shut down contact with a Florida network and throw 3 news reporters who support McCain off the O’Bama plane–are we entering McCarthy days from a different perspective? So Sad.

  6. Dave C. on November 1st, 2008 2:33 pm

Whew…sounds like a lot of speculation and heresay to me. I’d hold off on the lawyers just yet, lest a lot of expense for naught occurs. It would be interesting to know the story on who let the cat out of the bag on Obama’s half Aunt too. Seems a bit of shadyness involved there as well, would’nt you say? Or is that different?
As far as Obama and Pelosi “running the country into the ground” is concerned, I think someone needs to brush up on current events, because that’s already been done by the rightwing whackjobs during the last two election periods.
Politics are nasty by design, and the reason for all of this insanity exits because it is allowed by an insane, under-educated and mis-informed public. We the people are the heart of the problem, and it is We the people who can be the only solution. Food for thought!

  7. jojobo1 on November 1st, 2008 2:41 pm

Dave you are so right We all have to remember who is in office and who hired the people who leaked this stuff.especially this close to the end of the election Ciddy McCain talks about dirty campaigning her husband has held the diritiest campaign ever except for the one where a Republican tried to say a democrat did not believe in God when she goes to church every sunday.A suit is going there.I don’t think Joe has any thing to sue about .To put the blame on Senator Obama is really pushing it way to far. The media had already found out about him before the debate was over thanks to McCain .Hey maybe he should sue McCain even though McCain is most likely paying him right now

  8. Sandy D on November 1st, 2008 2:46 pm

Ask Barney Frank about Fannie & Freddie May on who push all the loans to people who could not pay them. Also ask about the money he got from them and a few more Democrats. also ask about the bonus the last director got when he was replaced.

  9. danielle on November 1st, 2008 2:48 pm

I think this is ridiculous. Was the person who told her to check a paid employee of the Obama campaign. Obama should not be held responsible for what other’s take it upon themselves to do. We’re not calling McCain and Palin a racist because of the bigot retards that show up at their rallies chanting racial slurs or the people out slashing the tires of those attending an Obama rally or those who steal and destroy Obama Biden signs

  10. Sharon on November 1st, 2008 2:57 pm

Oh, yeah, Joe is getting paid. Did you not hear them mention his agent and manager yesterday. I should have asked a question. If all I had to do was ask a question because I want to know something noone has mentioned. They talk about families. What about the single people in this nation. Where are we going to fit in? If we get sick we have nowhere to turn. I know because I am single and sick and about to be thrown in the street or perhaps I can live in my car. Winter is coming and gas prices has gone up up up (yeah they came down a little right now but still not where they belong). Well, I did my little whining. I am gonna go see if I can ask a question.

  11. CC on November 1st, 2008 3:02 pm

l fully agree with you both Dave and JoJo.John McCain was supposed to be such a nice person. Well he has shown his true colors.Does he think all of the American people are nothing but a bunch of illiterate idiots that doesn’t know what is going on. As for all the promises from both candidates on the future of our country.Does anyone out there actually know how much power the President of the United States really has, l seriously doubt it. l will saya this tho John McCain the day you started running Barack Obama in the ground and breaking him off was the day you lost my vote.

  12. Jim on November 1st, 2008 3:10 pm

OMG are you guys serious?????? John McCain put this so called “JOE” into the American public. He was trying to get Obama on a “gotcha” moment with his MADE UP business. His name wasn’t even Joe. Let alone not being able to own a business, he owes back taxes. IT WAS FABRICATED! After McCain talked about him more than the issues at the debate of course the media will wonder about him. Now McCain claims “Joe” is his hero. Perhaps because “Joe” lies more than McCain does. Perhaps because McCain can’t say “middleclass” and Joe represents the middleclass.

  13. Rhoda on November 1st, 2008 3:11 pm

This is so insane, who is Mccain trying to fool? I couldnt stand looking at this man for 4 years let alone seeing him on the tv bashing Obama. I think Obama will make a great President. You dont see him playing the childless games or name calling like Mc Cain.who all wants a nasty name calling president? McCain, you need to show a lil respect.Or are you scared if you dont do all the name calling you might lose this race?Im going to vote for Obama…oh by the way ..Im a white american who is willing to see what all Obama can and will do for this country. There is no room for raistisum.

  14. Rhoda on November 1st, 2008 3:14 pm

what about the lower class people? Ive heard all this stuff about the middle class…well what about the lower class people? Joe…dont give up your day Job!

  15. Linda on November 1st, 2008 3:23 pm

I am an Ohio native. This is disgusting and the illegal politics (sorry to say most Democratic) going on in Ohio makes me ashamed and sad. Ms Jones-Kelly was wrong…her subordinate is wrong….I like Gov Strickland and he is wrong, too. What will people do next that have authority? Someday you won’t be able to breath without having somebody do a security check on you. So beware!

  16. David M. on November 1st, 2008 3:26 pm

Lets talk about the real issue here Obama by nov.4th will have pissed away 3/4s of a billion dollars on this election why couldn’t he win on his merits your kids see a cerial on comercials 20 times a day 7 days a week and they will pester their parents till they fold and buy it for him ….all you Obama kids grow up he is all talk no substanace and is a great snake oil salesman

  17. David M. on November 1st, 2008 3:31 pm

and futhermore Obama took contributions from his aunt even if he didn’t know about her visa statuce he still took illegal contributions from her and when caught he sent it back just like when caught listening to a racist preacher which was quoted in obama’s book he claims he doesn’t suport his veiws…..Obama isn’t a Christian cause he will burn in hell for all the lies he has told sure I’ll take public money if you do John ….right what this election is proving is the democrats have turn into mindless idiots….and I don’t like Mccain either Ron Paul is the only one that had a chance fixing the US

CONGRATULATIONS OBAMA ON WINNING THE PRESIDENCY! I know it’s only Saturday, November 1st but you are ahead in ALL the polls.

VOTE FOR OBAMA! LET’S MAKE THIS VICTORY OFFICIAL!!

  19. D.E.S. on November 1st, 2008 3:42 pm

I voted for Bush (see shame here)twice. In 2000 I was VERY impressed with McCain. This election cycle he has thrown away his dignity and integrity. I will NOT vote for McCain or ANY republicans. Palin has shown her true colors she is just another corrupt political lackey. I voted for her for Governor too……won’t let that happen again!!!

  20. sue on November 1st, 2008 3:44 pm

I would like to say, just because you go to church does not mean you are a christian. I am wondering what will happen if either guy wins.It will all fall on the working people,I do not make 250,000 (am I poor?) no just making ends meet from weektoweek

  21. Virginia on November 1st, 2008 3:45 pm

Joe the Plummer gets the Big Brother spotlight, but Obama doesn’t know his dear aunt (who was immortalized in his books) is living in U.S., illegally? He apparently received donations from her for his campaign, so the “lost touch” arguement is a bit of a stretch!! You’d think with the reported 300 advisors Obama should have gotten a memo!!

  22. FN on November 1st, 2008 3:47 pm

I’m 62, disabled, living on SSI and food stamps. I have no family or friends but one friend. I had 5 by-pass open heart surgery in Nov ‘06. I live with my one friend of 50 years. I pay the lights, phone, cable and have $100 left over out of my check and $98 in food stamps a month. Where do I fit in with McCain or Obama’s plans? I’ll tell you NO WHERE!!!

  23. ken on November 1st, 2008 4:05 pm

I think we need to start a push for TAXING religious organizations and churches. God this and god that, you would think we were starting up the Spanish Inquisition on an American who loves his country! Obama, you rock! If the McSames get in again, God help this Country! The religious right is BLIND with anger!

  24. Marvin on November 1st, 2008 4:25 pm

Joe the plumber, WOW! what a laugh. I guess with all the BS McCain is spreading he does need his own plumber.

  25. Dave C. on November 1st, 2008 4:26 pm

Virginia: When you make the claim “who was immortalized in his books”, concerning Obama’s half aunt, all you accomplish is promoting the fact that you have not read any of his books.
This statement is just not true and has already been proven by several articles from those whe actually have research his books. Personally, I would be embarrassed to make claims that I knew I had no substanitive data on, full knowing that it could easily be thrown back in my face by someone who possessed far more knowledge than my self on the topic of choice. But that’s just me, I guess. It just brings me to my previous conclusion, that “We the people are the heart of the problem, and it is We the people who can be the only solution. Food for thought!”
The real problem is simply this; We, as Americans have, by and large, lost the ability to look ourselves in a mirror and accurately comprehend what it is we see. This division by design, that we have allowed to cloud our vision, has taken a serious toll on this country and the end result shows itself more and more each day.
We will never solve or accomplish anything of value until we re-learn how to recognize truth and seperate the un-truths.
With all due respect Virginia, I am an educator of men, where truth is the only method of worth. Obama stands for improving education, and at that alone, he won my support, because that alone is the heart of our problems today.
    Enough said…

  26. Madee on November 1st, 2008 4:33 pm

I think that the good old party is in knee deep popoo. Why , finally the US is paying attention to the election by reading not lies but truth that is out their for people to compare for themselves. I think the GOP is past their time to be the King on the hill, we are not the peasents in the shacks at the bottom of that hill!

  27. george T on November 1st, 2008 4:42 pm

Can anyone understand when the U.S. has the 2nd largest business tax in the world. Why anyone will vote for a man that stands there and straight tells you he is going to tax them, which will make more companies leave this country. Causing an unemployment that has not ever been seen before, oh wait it happened before same following of under informed people we had a 30% unemployment and were waiting in lines for gas that was under Jimmy Carter want to guess what party he was in?

  28. David M. on November 1st, 2008 4:43 pm

  29. John W. on November 1st, 2008 4:52 pm

I was born and raised in Ohio and I am so ashamed of my homestate. I think Kelley should be fired immediately. And the Governor who is from my own area should be ashamed as well for supporting this. I figure Obama will probably win and make history in two areas. First black to be elected to this office and first known person to buy his way in. President Robin Hood–wow

  30. Dave C. on November 1st, 2008 5:00 pm

George T: It is hard to fathom the pain of Big American Business, as you portray it, when Exxon has just posted their largest 3Q profits…EVER, as has BP. These facts can do only one thing, at a time when millions are losing their jobs and homes, as well as their retirement funds and any form of security that used to exist. It portrays the evidence that McCain’s history of support, as has Bush’s, does nothing to benefit the American public. That’s the great thing about facts and history. They are key elements in the processing of any equation.
The tax agenda of Obama is nothing more, by and large, that the rolling back of the agendas of the Clinton era. We survived that with ease, did’nt we? As a matter of more facts, we actually deemed that period as a period of surplus gains, in lieu of today’s multi-trillion debts with the current structure in place. And for the record, it’s not anymore “Socialistic” than our already utilized tax structure that has been in effect for several decades.
Education is the key, my friend, because lack thereof is what has put us where we are currently sitting.

  31. Diana D. on November 1st, 2008 5:10 pm

I don’t know what the future will hold for us but I put my faith in God who hold’s all of us up. this election is historical. I pray that the change will continue and bring all people together. In my lifetime lets hope that generation change will take over.

I am so sick and tired of elections becoming mud – slinging contests. I figure that most of the campaigning has centered on the negative aspects of both McCain , Palin and Obama. Very few positive points have been mentioned. I have wondered if Biden still exists because I don’t here much about him. The biggest turn-off for me with McCain happens to be Palin. If MCCain dies in office then we would have Palin for our President. No thank you. Why do we have to use smear tactics ? I wonder what the rest of the world thinks our election process. It doesn’t say alot for democracy.

    hey!

I want to say that I feel that actions speak louder than words as in Obama actions are what I feel that he is a true christian he dose not call McCain any names or react hastly and i also like the positive talk and wisdom he has and feel Obama supporters are just like him and if he should say something it is to defend himself and his vp. But I feel the plumber dose not represent me this man lied and dose have a job . I work three jobs 7 days a week and feel this plumber is a disgrace he dose not know how it feels to be struggling and make a morgtage and know the Obama tax plan is going to help him thats how stupid he is . I feel the other side has shown thier true colors I have never seen so much hate MCcain supporters have it just saddens me to see and hear that hate and also palin calls herself a leader she violated the ethics and abused her power i would not want her to abuse her power in the white house . hec no not over america

As an Indep. voter, I dont believe that anyone willing and able to run for President is a bad person, they sometimes use poor judgement usually on the advise of their of their campaign advisors/managers,chiefs of Staff…etc. If a polititian can only reach heights by trying to step on another, and not through their on abilities….they dont deserve our vote. I believe Obama/Biden will give our country balance. The GOP has used Fear in dealing with us for 8 years, Im looking forward to giving Hope a chance. FYI: I left the Repub. party in 2004.

Give me a break people. Like the McCain camp hasn’t investigated people to make their points. They trumped up Joe the fake plummer to begin with.

Now there is as story about Obama’s aunt….where did that come from?

Plus we’ve been living under the Bushies who have been eavesdropping on Americans for years. Listing to Quakers??? Like they are a huge threat to our national security.

Wake up. There has never is the history of America been a more secretive President, who was more controlling of the media, who had more people investigated, outed and controlled. Outing an FBI agent????

No one will compare to what we have endured for the past 8 years.

  37. ed m. on November 1st, 2008 5:27 pm

you tax corporations in america because they enjoy the use of american labor, american law, american rule of law, american natural resources and most importantly, unfettered access to the american consumer vis a vis lack of trade barriers such as tariffs and other taxes. if american corporations want to move jobs elsewhere where it’s cheaper, they should be penalized for abandoning the country that started and fostered their prosperity. the belief in unregulated capitalism, which we have championed in america for reasons passing understanding, is the cause of the problem and the premise we should reject becausethe rest of the world doesn’t do business that way. other countries protect their native industries and corporations. yet we continue to give american corporations shipping their plants offshore access to our resources and consumers even as they set up on the other side of the pond. if corporations don’t want to pay higher taxes, they can ship their operations to f-ing Ireland if they want to, but be prepared to get b*tch-slipped by import tariffs and additional taxes they didn’t want to pay to remain in the country that gave them prosperity.

  38. Michael Bolesworth on November 1st, 2008 5:41 pm

First of all, an “Educator of Men” (not women? and of course not animals so why say “Men”?) should learn to spell.

Second, there are so many charges and negative comments on both sides that no one should be pointing fingers.

And Third, I will admit I am a McCain supporter. Obama has promised to raise taxes on the top 2% wealthiest people in the US. And a tax cut for everyone who makes under $250,000. No, wait, that is $200,000. No, Joe Biden says $150,000. No, wait, that is $120,000 according to Gov Richardson of New Mexico. All of this in just 2 days. The first 100 days of an Obama presidency would be 50 times as scary. I don’t want someone’s money given to me by the government, I just want the government to collect only those taxes it really needs to run the government which is really what their responsibility is per Section 8 of the Constitution.

“The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and
Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general
    Welfare of the United States…………)

Higher taxes on the rich, small business who are profitable despite being small, and corporations who have other options for employees overseas will hurt us all.

I hope you enjoy an Obama presidency, because you won’t be happy with it.

Look whats happened, a lot of Republicans have figured out that they’ve been screwed by Bush and cohorts and are looking for a alternative to the vile spewing forth from the Republican party. The smart ones are looking at Obama and whats left of the party is meanness, viciousness, hate filled statements, bigotry, and words were that are rude, belittling, cruel and bitter. Pronounced by a election machine that is armed with ignorance and is sickening and offensive.

  44. Dave C. on November 1st, 2008 5:51 pm

Diana D: God is not going to help us with our self created situations. Putting faith in something that does not exist is not a solution. If you are truely concerned about bringing a change to people, then it will require your actions with people to help implement that change.
I am not a “Christian”, but I was provided with a great education in Christian fundamentals during my upbringing. I have read the bible several times and fully comprehend is message.
The Bible was created by men who had no scientific knowldge at the time, and sought something to explain what they were inable to comprehend themselves. It was merely, as it still remains to many, a crutch of sorts for those who lack the ability to process or just want something that is much easier than having to process. Advanced knowledge and science has long ago proven that the “Testiments of Truth” are merely a novel.
I do not oppose anyone’s right to believe what they want or need to believe and there are many great morale building stories in the book that are much needed in societies of magnitude as today’s. But these morales are based on good character and good common sense, which only quality, common day knowledge can provide; not because they were provided by someone in the sky.
I put my faith in logic, education and the ability to process, because that represents what man is really about, and is what is supposed to seperate us from beasts.
I mean no dis-respect whatsoever, but rather just feel the need to offer a different view.

Seems that people have forgotten that Bush gave tax breaks to corporations AND they still outsourced… because of low labor costs therefore Obama raising taxes is good. Atleast they will pay their fair share.
Also, experience is not as important as knowledge and education, just like a new doctor or nurse. These people would never be able to work if it was pnly based on experience and they do a vital job making decisions about people’s lives. I know. Obama has the sense needed to run a country as he is intelligent and will surround himself with sensible advisers, not like McCain making hasty decisions. As I have heard, his plane crashed because he ignored the warnings of enemy fire… this shows a lot about his intelligence and common sense.

I’m amazed to live in a country where so many
people have the freedom to sit on a computer
for hours, cursing and lambasting people they
don’t know. Ignorance breeds discontent -
maybe that’s why this country is in trouble.
Thank God we are free to have an opinion &
not get locked up for disagreeing. If everyone lived a Christian life so heavily spouted about, we wouldn’t have all these problems. We are already blaming a president who hasn’t been elected yet, but we re-elected a man who got
us involved in an unjustified war. Military
people tend to support the Repulicans, even though they say they don’t, but – not all military believe the junk. We are lucky they lay their lives on the line every day, so that we have the freedom to run our mouths.
Wife of a 25 year career veteran who thinks
we should all work harder to better the lives of those in our country who need it, not waste time spewing hate and discontent.
Be grateful! Things may be rough right now, but we still live in the best country in the
    world.

For those of you who think tax cuts creates jobs, your nuts. The GOP has been the majority party, for the most part, for the past 35 years. And have been cutting taxes for many of those years. During the same time they have made it possible for corporate America to abandon the American worker in favor of the Chinese communist worker. I don’t know where you live, but good paying American jobs have been going overseas ever since this tax cutting BS got started. And please don’t tell me that a anti-union, anti-benefits, anti-health insurance, minimum wage Wal-mart job counts as a good paying job. Those tax cuts aren’t going into capital improvements, they are going into the pockets of the already rich. Please don’t ask me to shed a tear for these poor over taxed greed merchants. And for those poor small businesses, if they need a tax cut to keep their business alive, then it will probably fail anyway.

BTW, the highest taxed country in the world (Sweden) has a lower unemployment rate then the US.

Also, if you look at the historical data, there is no correalation between tax cuts and increased private investment. And that comes from the 2008 Office of the President Budget Report.

People, think before you vote. Don’t let either party bs you into thinking the other party is going to cause some kind of a calamity if they are voted into power. Afterall, they both have the best interests of the country in mind. They just disagree on what will make us better.

    We are all Americans.

  53. Tony R on November 1st, 2008 6:19 pm

The only color that concerns me is green. It concerend me last election, and it troubled me that the rest of the country didnt vote according to their economic interest. Cause in the end, that is all that matters. I dont care if my candidate belives in god or abortion. Just belives in due diligence of preserve and protecting the American Way of life. If, the 5th grade had an economics class, it would be an easy concept for even them to figure if my parents dont have a job, they can pay for anything. How can I as a tradesmen, buy a new Ford or Chevy truck, if the plants where I normaly would be installing the conveyors in, was in Mexico or China. Simple math. Cause and effect. We used to have a saying here in Michigan. “Vote democrat, live like a republican”. If they want to tax me 3% more if I make over a certain ammount, go for it. If I’m not working what differance does it make?

apparently you don’t read into what Obama plan is he will bring 50,000 people back from Iraq leaving 50,000 there and the shift the ones he pulled out to afganistan which all experts say is a war that cannot be won ….russia couldn’t beat them what makes you think our preshrunk Bill Clinton army can do much more your just another listening to obama run his mouth without checking what his plan really means war is Hell Desi since the begining of time war kills people it just didn’t start in Iraq silly woman

  55. Sam on November 1st, 2008 6:24 pm

You don’t think he’s a nice guy now because he tries to uncover lies and corruption? McCain has been a great representative to AZ. For people of both parties. You listinglisten to lies and change your mind. Think… Dirty campaigns are about low blows to someone’s personal non-politica aspects of their lives… McCain does not go there. But he is accused by Obama because it’s get’s the dogs off… And because of his celebrity he is able to demand his followers to obey and attack back. Not with facts, issues but with “dirty” attackes of his own… Everyone that votes for Obama will be responsible for the downfall of this country. For it’s slide into socialism. The banks are being nationalised. Obama will do the health care system for us. etc… If you blindly follow and vote based on charisma you deserve what you get. Those of us that think, and understand the difference between “talk” and “lies/subterfuge/twisting facts”… Obama picks up on anyone’s good work and claims it as his own. He denies any his that does not reflect favorably on him. The rest he just disavowes or refuses to answer. You are in love with a “character”. Some personna made up to fit a formula. And people are flocking to vote for this celebrity. NOT OUR COUNTRY. Obama was placed as THE MOST LIBERAL member of congress. Taxes? It’s our duty to pay taxes, and to equal out our wealth. Except for those that are at the top. Like him. Socialism is your fate. Read. Look at history. Bush more than once tried to stop the mortgage problems. Democrats stopped him. McCain co-sponsored a bill to try to oversee the problems. The democrats stopped it. Just because it happened in the last 8 years does not make it Bush’s fault. Was Bush the reason you got your last birthday present? Obama will blame anyone convenient and his followers blindly follow. No facts. Nothing behind what he says. But if you try to question it you are racist or guilty yourself. Commrad get your salute polished up. It is comming. You enjoy your free speech here… not for much longer.

Nobody wants welfare system, but if people have all these kids, including teenagers…so well publicised by Palin’s daughter( so much for being conservatives with no shame in premarital sex and pregnancy) there is going to be an increase in crime. It is Embarassing however when I speak with my cousins who live in The Netherlands, and they are amazed at how Americans are acting about Senator Obama and the color of his skin, we seem to be in a time warp! how disgusting the world is laughing at us, and the clowns keep getting out the litte clown car! For the sake of our future I hope that the majority of intelligent, common sense Americans, understand that this country needs to go in the direction of level headed, non violent communication within this country and abroad. We are at a great point to start from scratch, That is why Senator Obama is the only logical choice.

  62. Dave C. on November 1st, 2008 6:50 pm

Michael Bolesworth: I humbly apologize for my few mis-spellings that you hasitily took note of. I was more focused on a message than I was getting an A on an essay. When I utilize documentation for my training classes, I have software to spellcheck, check for plagiarism and spend a great deal of time fact checking. I’m sorry for not going through those pains for this blog.
First: I stated that I’m an educator of men because that is exactly what I have been thus far, being a vocational educator that has yet to have any females, nor animals in my classes. When to day presents itself when I find a female in one of my classes, then I will surely alter my status accordingly, and I highly doubt that I’ll ever have to worry about an animal showing up, but who knows, right?
Secondly, the only finger I point is at truth, facts and history. If that leads you down a path you don’t like, then provide me with a substantive argument based on same, not on an opinion based on rhetoric or assumption.
A very brief research into the actual tax plans of Obama will immediately offer you clarity on your confusion as to what it’s really comprised of. I’m not in the habit of doing homework for my students, but rather, steer them in the direction that will provide them with the answers they seek.
Third: It was not necessary to disclose that you were a McCain supported, as that could be instantly surmised. You offer a mathmatical conclusion in stating that “The first 100 days of an Obama presidency would be 50 times as scary.” and I would like to see what substantive data you have to offer in coming up with that conclusion. Math is an area of my expertise, so that statment genuinely intrigues me.
I have not problem with anyone making any form of a choice whatsoever. When they volunteer the logic behind their choice in public as we do in blogs, and that logic eludes substantive data, then I feel the need to address the logic, or lack thereof, not to harrass so much, as to seek enlightenment on something I might not know. This is a process of education and a process in increasing one’s intellect.
I try to offer what I can to those who appear to be confused, and I always welcome someone who can help me if I am confused. This is why I do not rant, rave or curse anyone. I am eager to teach and just as eager to learn, but I insist on factual information in the process.

  65. Jake on November 1st, 2008 7:03 pm

For all you tax cutting, communist loving corporate and GOP sychophants, this is the result of non-oversight of corporate america – “corporate elites cocoon themselves in gated communities guarded by private security, fly in corporate aircraft, depend on golden parachutes and private pensions, and send their children to prohibitively expensive private schools. Gradually these corporate elites lose their motivation to support the police force, the municipal water supply, Social Security, and public schools. Any society contains a built-in blueprint for failure if corporate elites insulate themselves from the consequences of their own actions.”

The power should be back in the people’s hands. Not in GOP policies that have restricted our freedoms while supporting the corporations irresponsible behaviors.

  66. drsumanprasad on November 1st, 2008 7:12 pm

So McCain is trained for the job? He can’t even manage his campaign and how many budgets has he balanced, how many important decisions has he made… same as obama . he has only been a senator all his life

  67. Kallie on November 1st, 2008 7:13 pm

David M: Believe me, if McCain COULD have raised 3/4 of a billion for his campaign, he wouldn’t have spent it on “alot of food for the hungry” and “alot of morgages.” Considering his candidacy hasn’t generated much interest even among his “base,” he knew public funding was his best bet. Is it Obama’s fault that he’s just an irascible, impulsive old man grabbing for the brass ring — and Americans see right through him?
By the way, after 9/11, not everyone wanted the US “to go to war with someone.” Wars are costly, and they’re deadly. And if you have to borrow money to get into the war, you’d be better off finding some other way to solve your problems.

David M, Obama has raised the money from people that beleive in him, his past, his future. So he has the obligation to use that money to get himself elected. While spending that money right here in The great USA it get “redistributed” as McCain would say.All that money circulating helps support the economy in a very real and direct manner.Even the Millions tha McCain has spent goes right back in.

  71. Patti on November 1st, 2008 7:37 pm

So strange that Obama doesn’t have the credentials to be commander in chief because he hasn’t been in a combat war. However, Bush was not either, nor Clinton, nor Reagan. Kennedy was our last and most famous military man later elected as President, who has one job as Commander in Chief…and many other jobs. Get real folks…this argument abount Obama not having experience is a distracting statement. Study your history.

  72. leonardo on November 1st, 2008 7:42 pm

I agree with Kallie that not all Americans wanted to go to war with “someone”.A group of people developed a plan to take down the USA.At that time it was the responability of the President and his cabinet to develop a plan to find those people and bring them to justice, what ever you may think that should be.The adminisration had other plans and now we are living their dream. So to repeat not all wanted war but a proper police action was called for at that time.

  73. Susan on November 1st, 2008 8:02 pm

I am also one of those living from paycheck-to-paycheck type people so whether I vote for McCain or Obama I guess I’m in the clear as far as taxes go. However, if I were in the upper bracket that would be taxed according to Obama’s plan, I kind of applaud him for speaking the truth from the get-go. No, I would not liked to be taxed further but I especially would be furious if I was taxed by a President who made a campaign promise not to raise taxes for anyone. I guess I’m cynical but I just can’t ever imagine taxes not increasing at some point for some reason. Time and again we’ve seen taxes raised. I think it takes courage to say that out loud before being elected. I don’t know the statistics but I bet there will be quite a few people making over $250,000 voting for Obama based on integrity alone.

I’m amazed at how many people think that Obama knew that his aunt donated money to his campaign. Did she tell him that she did (nobody knows that this is the case…)? Does he review the names of all donors personally? (I doubt it). Would the campaign workers processing the donations recognize her name to be that of his aunts? (Unlikely…her surname is not Obama…).

You might question whether he was privy the denial of her request for asylum, but it seems to be quite the stretch to suggest he should have known that she donated to his campaign. Let’s try to be reasonable here.

    David M.
Obama’s campaign has been financed by freely donated money. Those donors gave the money to fund the campaign, ergo Obama is under a legal obligation to spend that money on his campaign. Prior to Obama next greatest political fund raiser was GW Bush, did you scream at him to donate to the hungry or give it to people to pay their mortgage?

If you don’t like how Obama’s campaign money is spent thats fine but remember its CAMPAIGN money.

There you go you asked for a response and you got it…your turn.

Could racism be the culprit? Ponder the following:
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to painkillers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Obama couldn’t read from a teleprompter?
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama’s family had made their money from beer distribution?
What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?
You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are? This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

yes Obama’s donations were freely given and if all are legitimate why wont he open his contribution records ?
Its funny that last week a lady from UK freely admited she used her credit card to donate to Obama and poof all the sudden nothing was heard about it again and like I said I suport Ron Paul not Mccain or Obama
but like everyone else with a grain of sense Id really like all the unanswered questions honest ones answered before Tuesdays and if he did Id vote for him but before 4 years ago much of his life is still a mystery

  91. tony on November 1st, 2008 10:32 pm

Well Im and European emigrant. USA have been great to me. I love my new country but im very suspiccious of MR OBAMA not cuz he is 1/2 black I dont care bout that. But he seems to much to the left and not experienced enough to led our country when we face threats from rogue states (such Russia, Iran Korea ) and terrorist all over the place. Yeah Mccain might not be a young man but he is stand up man with proven record. I dont like democrats grabbing all power checks of government. Yeah generally I would be a democrat not this freeking time. America should wake up turn to much to the left and we will fall on our face. we need to stand up now and elect Mcain

  92. David on November 1st, 2008 10:35 pm

Mae: What if Obama was a Naval pilot, shot down and was tortured as a pow by communists and McCain was mentored by a frank marshall davis, a known communist, hung around with marxist professors in college while using cocaine and pot.

  93. David M. on November 1st, 2008 10:36 pm

and one thing for sure Mccain has shown this country he will freely cross the lines and help make laws with Democrates heck Hillary and biden both claim to be mccains friend and Biden was a consideration for being mccains running mate which both Clinton and Biden both said and I quote ” obama doesn’t have the experience to be the man to run this country”
seems like democrate are abit two faced and the biggest lie obama has told this country and all of you for Obama know its true obama promissed this country and John Mccain he would accept public funds if mccain did he showing clearly he is a person that doesn’t keep his word

  94. David on November 1st, 2008 10:37 pm

Palin worked for her college tuition…who paid for obama’s?

  95. David on November 1st, 2008 10:40 pm

Why won’t obama show his long form birth certificate as McCain did instead of going to court to keep it under lock and key?

  96. David on November 1st, 2008 10:43 pm

obama not promised to accept federal campaign funds but also has promised the electorate everything to get the votes. Why did I have to read in an UK newspaper that he is taming down the claims for tax relief and such now as he won’t be able to keep his promises? Why not make the truth available in the States? I’m sorry to have to tell you dems this, but your messiah has no clothes; just lies to hide his shame.

  98. Winner on November 1st, 2008 10:46 pm

Oh just stop it already with this nonsense repub’s!

You had 8 years, count them 8 whole years to get it right and within that time frame terrorists were so sick of Bush and his cronie’s BS that they flew planes into the WTC to make a statement to the world, your party INHERITED a budget that was operating at a surplus and drove it straight into HELL,
you encouraged our greedy businesses to OUTSOURCE our AMERICAN jobs to INDIA and CHINA to make ungodly profits at the expense of decent AMERICANS, you allowed BANKERS to do whatever they wanted as profits soared and you were the first ones to suggest WE should all BAIL your BANK Friends out because “THEY” need help, you’ve kept us fighting a war for what, at 10 billion a month and OBAMA is your main concern?

Whah… boo-hoo! Your gravy train is coming to a stop so you’re pissed off at Obama? Let you tell it: he’s a Socialist, Muslim, Racial Hate supporter and of course Terrorist that will ruin the country.

OMG I can’t believe that so called “logical” people would even go to all those lengths just to justify being obstinate. That’s right stubborn to a fault!

The AMERICAN public, who thinks rationally, recognizes that the guy who’s winning right now has an IVY League Education, worked at the grass roots level in poor neigborhoods to help people and champion hope when he could have easily been on Wall Street ripping people off makng obscene money with the rest of BUSH’s BANKER buddies.

Obama is only 47 but exudes the confidence and foresight of a 72 year presidential candidate with 20 plus years in the senate but McLame acts so juvenile and has rarely been diplomatic about anything.

He’s a whiner and that may explain why a lot of repub’s are repulsively whining too!

Obama has proven he is the right candidate for president because he’s intelligent enough to run a campaign that defeated both Hilary and Bill Clinton and now McCain and Palin by usuing modern technology and shrewd strategy across battleground states.

That looks like the stuff of presidential material to me!

Let’s get AMERICA back on the road OBAMA!

  99. William Teach on November 1st, 2008 10:47 pm

If it was a setup, Barack must have been in on it. Or, maybe it was the EVIL powers of Dick Cheney, making Barack go to the one house at random that had the GOP plant.

Seriously, you Lefties need to come back to reality land.

  100. Md Voter on November 1st, 2008 10:49 pm

First of all, I am glad that Obama did not use my tax money to run for office. I have been so sick of “McPalin.” I lost so much respect for the negativity. I felt the same about Hillary Clinton. When people are losing, they resort to all kinds of trash talk. It isn’t worth it.

I have chosen to vote for Obama/Biden. I liek the way they ran their campaign and discussed the issues. I got bored with the hockey mom and maverick stories. After paying $500 a month to commute, and watch all of our monry go to Irag, I need a change. Our country needs some serious guidance. I think McCain wants it so bad he is willing to do anything. I am ready for the change that Obama will bring. McCain has shown what his leadership will be like. Don’t believe me, look at how his campaigm was run.

So whomever wins. will have lots of work to do. I just don’t want an extended arm of Bush for another 4 years, 4 days, 4 minutes, or 4 seconds.

  101. David on November 1st, 2008 10:51 pm

Mae, that’s BS what you are saying about Gov Palin’s child. People knew Gov Palin was pregnant, Gov Lingle of Hawaii for one.

  102. Juri on November 1st, 2008 10:54 pm

“and all you Obama supporters still haven’t had a reply to Obama pissing 3/4s of a billion dollars away on his run for office”

    1. This is the first time in decades that a democrating nominee has had more funding than a republican.
I doubt you were complaining about how much was spend then.

    2. Obama’s money comes from donations.
McCains money comes from tax money.

Now, to you, not having a choice in which candidate you’re paying for might be a good thing but not everyone is that stupid.

  103. David on November 1st, 2008 10:54 pm

Tony, This Vietnam vet is not racist, just anti communist, and I can’t vote for someone who hung around with commies and marxist bombers (ayers) of his own free will.

still Obama lied to the Us citizens and mccain what about that its very public knowledge……hwe always has a quick reply to everything that is brought up the preacher ayes the mobster his aunt its like he knows everything he has done wrong and he has a playlist with all the answers to everything crooked he has ever done ready to reply quickly when caught everyone STOP and think there are alot of intelligent people here isn’t funny to have an instant excuse whenever asked about something in his past that isn’t savory and guess what people this was in the news your Demigod ran to Hillary for advice when the Country sudenly went broke .
one question and answer it honestly What has Obama done for Ill. its going down the tube quickly everyday in the news people in Ill. are losing their jobs saying they have worthless heathcare and are losing their houses he hasn’t helped Ill. what makes you think he can help the US

  105. Robert on November 1st, 2008 11:03 pm

    Jake,

I suggest you check your facts before you post them. If you research at the Office of the Clerk US House of Reps and Senate.gov, you will see that the Dems have controlled the House and Senate the majority of the time over the past 35 years. To give the facts, the house has been controlled by the Dems 24 yrs out of the 35. They controlled the Senate 20 years out of the 35.

Also, many of the years the Dems controlled the house by a huge majority, not by the narrow one the Republicans had when they were in control. I used the time period you stated from 1973-2008. I didn’t check your other facts but put them in question based on your statement of House and Senate control over the past 35 years.

I’m not the one who seems to have a lack of understanding.
I’m not talking about specific ammounts.
    I’m talking percentages.

McCain is running on more money than Bush did as well.
Your argument is flawed but, I guess I can’t really expect more from someone that spends large portions of his day spouting of rubbish “facts” on online blogs.

  111. David M. on November 1st, 2008 11:15 pm

Korea Vietnam and the Gulf was the war in afganistan and now I relatives in iraq now I have a stake in seeing the USA last and Obama wont make it happen and its doubtful Mccain will either stop with the insults on Palin and Mccain and use something of the truth and one truth is Palin did alot for Alaska period

“Whitey” be prepared. Reparation #1 was with Clinton and the congressional Black caucus forcing Banks to make sub-prime loans to the supposed poor. ie: Black people and illegal aliens. These loans will never be paid back.(selling Crack isn’t lucrative enough)
Banks were on the hook. They bundled these insanely risky loans and created derivitives or Securities out of them. Then pawned many of these bundled loans off onto unsuspecting World Banks. Thereby spreading the loss worldwide.
Now Obama says “we can’t let people lose their homes in foreclosures”. Once he’s elected, God forbid, he’ll make sure these “Brothers and Sisters” stay in their home for free. This will be Reparations #2. And guess who will foot the bill for all the other give-away programs? That’s right,….you whitey. And everyone else who actually produces.
Isn’t it amazing how a Korean or an Irishman can immigrate to America with nothing and forge themselves a better future. Yet Blacks who are born here seem to still wallow in slums and their main source for income is drugs, guns, prostitution and theft.
Yes, we will all pay dearly for their collective failures. Barak Hussein Obama and Michelle will make sure. And Freedom and opportunity will be lost for all.

  119. David M. on November 1st, 2008 11:33 pm

You’ll be taken a lot more serious by people when you actually know what you’re talking about because now, you’re just yet again spouting off rubbish and looking a little foolish.

I think most of you the VOTERS are idiots and will listen to anything the television says. Do any of you really think that either party really gives a damn about you or I. If you do you are sadly mistaken and deserve whatever happens to you. Wether they are Democrat or Republican there is one agenda for them POWER. Untilwe vote out the people who are always in charge and lived a lifetime of politics we will see more of the same.

  124. MalikTheMailMan on November 1st, 2008 11:38 pm

The absolute hypocrisy of the outrage from the party known for illegal wiretaps and listening to conversations of american citizens is comical at best.
While all your heads were about to explode ala the old Scanners movie…there is one small item you missed. When John McCain mentioned Joe the Plumbers 24 times during the debate he made the man a star. When you become a star all bets are off and your life including all your baggage, now gets dissected and there is very little you can do about it. He saw the TV cameras following Sen Obama on his street…but he chose to ask him a question, therefore injecting himself into this campaign and everything that comes along with being vetted for credibility and possible baggage. Who is he going to sue? No one. He should just fade away like all people do when their 15 minutes is up.

  125. David M. on November 1st, 2008 11:38 pm

This is kind of late in the game to be so hostile to one another. All the media has been for Obama from get-go.I have read everything available about who he really is.I
can’t find out anything, except what he wants you to know. The media lets all of McCain-Palin dirty laundry aired, but not Obama. Why is he so secretive,is he trying to hide things? My main concern is where did he get all his money? I am talking about, when he went to Harvard, then bought a million plus home in Chicago and now the millions of dollars in the campaign.Desi you and the Democrats are the only people hollering racist. Most people (and I am from the South)
don’t care if his skin color is purple.I can’t recall McCann-Palin every making a racist comment. He is just trying to hard to be secretive about his personal life.Way to go David M.!When something like Rev.Wright,Ayers,Acorn, his half-brother and Aunt comes out,It is very quikly hush-hush.How many other things are still hidden?
    It is scary to me

Sorry Dianealee I am not your insurance provider, but I would be glad to contribute to a health care plan that would make affordable health care for all of us. Look how much big insurance and pharmaceutical is spending to stop it. That wasted money could have paid for my mothers needed chemo therapy and my disability issues. Obama’s economy policy not benefit middle class and poor.
First, his tax policy, tax rich then pay to poor, is a punishment on rich. That will force more investors will move out of our country and push more jobs oversease. The result is more middle class and poor will lost their jobs. And our country’s trade deficit will soar. National Treasury will earn less tax and has more debts. USD will more weak then no foriegn investors will come. Our economy will slow even recession. Obama is out of touch don’t know economy was globalizd. Invetors of our country can invest at any where around whole world now.
Where tax lower they will invest at there.
(China just used lower tax as a tool to attract foeiegn investors, include US, to invest at there. Let them had a economic bloom).
Second, his welfare policy has painted a beautiful plan for middle class and poor.
But it’s violate common sense. Increase welfare, which paid by government, the National Treasury must has surplus. But our National Treasury has sky-rocket debts now.
Our existed welfares all facing financial crisis. More welfare means more debts and need borrow mor from foriegn country. Maybe our country will bankrupt even become second
ICELAND. At that time middle class and poor will be the first victims.
My conclution is Obama’s economy policy not really benefit middle class and poor He use them only to attract peoples vote him.
So don’t influece by his smart performance
and irresposible promises. Use rationality to vote.

  140. Dianalee on November 1st, 2008 11:55 pm

Yes, to be a racist, you must be the race that has oppressive power over others.

Whitey was not the problem, it was your tone that non whites and illegal’s are lazier then all other Americans that was the problem.

That only blacks were given risky loans was the problem.

“Blacks born here seem to still wallow in slums and their main source for income is drugs, guns, prostitution and theft.” WAS THE PROBLEM!

Ignorant stereotypes and your inability to see white privilege is the problem!

  147. liberals-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 12:03 am

The facts—Joe from Ohio was approached by Obama,he was playing catch in his yard with his son when Obama walked up to him.
The facts–federal campaign money McCain has gotten is NOT tax money(its donated),it is from a fund where a box you check on your tax return. you VOLUNTEER to donate a few dollars to this fund if you want to.and by excepting this money you are required to submit to audits of every single dollar and how it was spent, unlike Obama who has yet provided paper work on donations to his campaign and where they have come from.
The facts–Just because people won’t vote for Obama doesn’t mean we are racist,it just says we won’t put a man in charge of this great country who needs 700 advisors because he knows nothing of running a government,is so insecure and unable to take criticism.he kicks off three newspaper reporters from the campaign plane after the papers endorsed McCain, then told the t.v. station in Florida
they were banned from any and all contact with Obamas campaign for asking Biden about statements he and Obama made,..
The facts–Obama has yet to submit any bills in the senate that would or could improve the lives of the voters he so dearly wants to help if he gets in the white house(bills wrote by others don’t count)if you check, his career in the chicago state senate has the same lack of subtance.in chicago they actually had other senators give him their bills to attach his name on them.this was a directive from the DNC so he could be groomed for this run for the white house, they proved this when the DNC had him speak at the 2004 convention and back then had praised him on his speaking ability and how he was a future star in the party and someone to look out for.all this is on film just google it.

THE FACTS–Change could be good, but to change just for the sack of change THATS DANGEROUS

Hey Juri, facts are facts. Look up the numbers. What is the percentage of the black population in the U.S.? Then average their group to everyone else when it comes to Prison populations, drug arrests, Crack cocaine sales, and crimes involving guns. They beat out every group in those categories. Hands down. Hell, black on black crime is high too. They don’t target just whitey. (Obama’s got that covered.)
Granted, some are good decent people and live successful, normal lives. But it’s the percentages and bold facts that speak the truth.
America’s sin of slavery has come back to haunt us. As Rev. Wright says “America’s chickens,…….. have come home to roost”.
And Obama will make sure we pay in “spades” for those sins.

  149. David M. on November 2nd, 2008 12:04 am

come on people say something about Dr Ron paul he is an honest man that had the answers to all the things all of us wanted intelligence honesty knowledge of the economy a true constitutionslist at heart and nobody is even bothering to run agaist him for his realection to congress cause he is so well respected

  150. Mark W. on November 2nd, 2008 12:05 am

    The Facts, vote!

  151. Dianalee on November 2nd, 2008 12:07 am

Why did Dr Paul not run for President then?? Or did I miss that??

  152. Juri on November 2nd, 2008 12:08 am

“Juri you said bloke so your from UK so anything you say means nothing here worry about where your from and stay out of what doesn’t concern you ok”

I’m from Holland, actually. (yet managed to master the English language better than you have, funnily enough)
And whoever the next president of the USA is going to be will have a huge impact on the rest of the world as well.
Just look at the current economic crisis and how it’s having an impact on the global economy.
Stay out when it doesn’t concern me?
Poor attempt of trying to get out of an argument because you can’t back up any of your claims.

    Try again.
    try harder.
Or at least try a little.

  153. Mark W. on November 2nd, 2008 12:08 am

Good luck everyone, try and play nice together.

I have to go to bed so I can make my McCain/Palin volunteer get out the vote obligation tomorrow!

  154. MalikTheMailMan on November 2nd, 2008 12:09 am

If you really thing about it. The real AMERICAN thing for ALL of us to do is pull up our bootstraps and EVERYONE pay through more taxes or whatever else we need to do to get our own country out of debt. In WWII Americans were asked to sacrifice…we are at war in two countries why should it be any different now???? Why does everyone want everything to be okay but no one wants to pay or sacrifice for the good of the country? The debt is not just going away because we wish it gone.

  155. Dianalee on November 2nd, 2008 12:09 am

  156. Mark W. on November 2nd, 2008 12:11 am

Juri, don’t let the bad Americans bully you!

They don’t always know how to play nice, and forget that they do have impact on the rest of the world!

That is the “Bad Americans” of course, thank God there is getting to be less and less of them as the years go by,

  171. James Brockton on November 2nd, 2008 12:23 am

And what has been threatened if McCain actually wins? What will happen if many white voters, once the curtain is pulled closed, vote against the Black guy?
It will be democrats and independents voting this way too.
Look for Obama to go quickly back to his community aggitator roots. American cities will burn for sure.

    Sorry David
Maybe next time. I need to do more research on Mr Pauls old news letter before I throw him my support. He might be a good guy and does have some good ideas, just don’t know enough about him. It just does me no good to think about what might have been. Hell what might have been if 1000 more people votes were counted in Florida 2000…you see what I mean?

But then I don’t think war is ever the answer

  188. Jill on November 2nd, 2008 12:40 am

Re Obama’s aunt giving donations to his campaign. Apparently it was a number of small donations given over time adding up to a whopping $265, most recently a $5 contribution. With all the small donations pouring in, many electronically via the internet, do you really think Obama has time right now to sit down and read the names of every small donor?? It’s all recorded, and someone did the research when they found out about her living in the U.S., someone trying to did up dirt on Obama. Just shows how desperate the McCain camp is, since it’s such a non-issue… I can’t wait until this election is over – BaROCK the vote!

Want to know what life under an Obama presidency would be like? Read about some of the people he associates with, has belonged to the organizations mentioned and contributed to their causes.

“Birds of a feather flock together.”

    1. – Bill Ayers – Weathers Underground terrorist which received its directions from communist Cuba.

    2. – Frank Marshall Davis – (Obama’s personal mentor from age ten until eighteen when he left for college). A Key member of a Soviet controlled network sponsored by Moscow and operating in Hawaii.

    3. – Jeremiah Wright – Pastor for over 20 yrs. black liberation theologian (a marxist movement).

    4. – Bernadine Dohrn – American former leader of the communist organization Weather Underground 1969 to 1980.

    5. – Koji Ariyoshi – A Communist double agent arrested in Hawaii under charges of attempting to overthrow the American government under the Smith Act.

    6. – Mike Klonsky whose father was an American communist convicted in the mid-Fifties for plotting the forcible overthrow of the United States government. Mike Klonsky is an unabashed communist whose current mission is to spread Communist ideology. Obama funded him to the tune of nearly $2 million. Obama gave Klonsky a broad platform to broadcast his ideas: a social justice blog on the official Obama campaign website. Klonsky in partnership with Ayers which Obama mightily helped underwrite, formed a Maoist organization, first known as the October League, which ultimately became the Communist Party (Marxist Leninist).

    7. – Sam Graham-Felsen, hired to run Obama’s blog, writes in Marxist publications that openly call for revolution against the American government.

    8. – Rev. Michael Pfleger, Alice Palmer. Quentin Young. The list goes on and on.

OBAMA HAS SPENT A LIFETIME CONSORTING WITH PEOPLE WHO HATE AMERICA AND WORK FOR OUR DOWNFALL.

IS THIS THE KIND OF MAN YOU WANT LEADING OUR GREAT COUNTRY? WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE !!

  196. Dianalee on November 2nd, 2008 12:46 am

I am sure Mr McCain has talked to people in his past that he wishes he hadn’t…did ya see him lookin all pervy at Anna Nichole in that video on tv lastnight

  197. Juri on November 2nd, 2008 12:48 am

Mythbuster seems to be about 6 months behind on his campaign info.

  198. military wife on November 2nd, 2008 12:48 am

I do not engage in political debates online as I believe it only results in mudslinging & I can watch the TV & BOTH campaign commercials if I want that. However, I have taken offense to several things stated here. Desi, I do not believe any military wife who sees her husbands paycheck as a “bribe” is actually a military wife. If you are one I really would like to know if your husband has gone anywhere. Regardless of what you believe your husband must believe in what he is doing or he would no longer be in the military as the Iraq war started in March 2003, I remember this clearly as my husband was there, and he has returned 3 more times. Anyways, if he believes the Iraq war was nothing but lies then why did he join after the war or why has he reenlisted? The other belief I take offense to is the belief that if you support McCain you either have to be racist or rich. I am by no means rich nor am I racist. I cannot prove to anyone online that I am not nor do I have the desire to try. I know who I am but I would like to know why? Why am I racist if I vote for McCain?

  199. James Brockton on November 2nd, 2008 12:49 am

Seriously. I’d like to know more. But this isn’t the right place for personal info. It seems an easy fix though, considering the inexpensive cost of such an enhanced ability. Can you suggest a way to inform me better of your situation outside of this forum?

  200. Dianalee on November 2nd, 2008 12:49 am

David I comend you for standing your ground with Dr Paul…..Could you tellus for whom you will vote??

  201. liberals-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 12:49 am

Gee David All i can tell ya, is when i sit back and light one up and get a look at Ron Pauls eyebrows i laugh so hard i almost wet my pants..Dude you have to admit it looks like two caterpillars screwing on his face.

    Just kidding!!! Goodnight all……….

  202. David M. on November 2nd, 2008 12:52 am

Jill Obama needs to open his contribution records with opra and warren buffet as his 2 biggest supporters and raising over 150 million in august it does look very fishy americans as a whole are broke the price of gas was choking everyone in august and no matter who you wanted to win I think every americans money was in a gastank and not being sent to Obama now….really think getting to work or donating money Im thinking 99% would pay for gas don’t you think

  203. Juri on November 2nd, 2008 12:52 am

So basically, David’s one and only reason for ranting and raving here tonight is because he’s upset his choice didn’t stand a chance of getting anywhere.

    Glad we’ve cleared that up.
Explains a lot about your angry behaviour.

“The other belief I take offense to is the belief that if you support McCain you either have to be racist or rich.”

As much as I disagree heavily with McCain on damn near everything, I agree with that.
Different people have different opinions on what is needed in a country.
Just because some people prefer McCain’s ideas does not automatically make them racist.

I sincerely hope that Obama wins the election but I don’t believe every McCain follower is a braindead redneck racist.

he went on meet the press last sunday and said he was going to win and he is alot closer to than Regan was at this point in the election Im just waiting for what he has up his sleve for Monday it will be a headliner and most likely smash Obama Mccain in 10 days has gone from way behind to almost even with Obama and thats not from the news at this point Mccain looks to have Pa wraped up

  210. James Brockton on November 2nd, 2008 1:01 am

Ken, your logic is typical of someone who is selfish and simple. Go barak indeed.
If you are working and filing a Tax return, you might get a small stimulus check in Obama’s plan. But he will not extend the Bush Tax cuts that end in 2010. And he will dramatically increase taxes on small businesses as well as large. Which in turn will lay-off millions of workers nationwide. Consumer confidence will fall. People will buy less and more lay-offs will occur. Eventually, the only answer to bailing out a deeply indebted system will be the nationalization of everything.
In closing, you’ve got to have a job if you want Obama’s tiny little stipend. But, in voting for that stipend, you end up losing your job. Try to think things through to the logical end.

  211. MalikTheMailMan on November 2nd, 2008 1:03 am

Juri you are right, all McCain supporters are not rich and not racist…but since guilt by association has been the norm for the campaign….

And if you are not rich why the hell are you voting for Mc….never mind….

  212. Dianalee on November 2nd, 2008 1:03 am

It is an amazing item that needs to be given more attention and if I have to go to every blog site and talk about it I will….I got to use it for a day……I knew by time I was done I would get one or die trying….so the more people know about it the demand will grow and the price will lower

Ken i didn’t know you have to be a perfect citizen to ask a candidate a question, look at the video file it was Obama who walked up and approached him and asked him if he was voting and if he knew of his plan for the country and that was when Joe asked about his tax plan and i quote Joe”Sir,if one day i buy a business and would be able to make 200,000 dollars someday, why? would you want to tax me more for being a small business and trying to hire more people”
Please get this right that is what happened that guy is not a McCain operative like some have suggested,he does not owe child support he shares custody of his son with his ex,and so what if he owes back taxes why would that exempt a voter from asking a question? if thats the case Then congress DEMOCRAT CHARLIE RANGEL of new york owes 10,000 dollars in back taxes i guess he better keep his mouth shut?

  219. Neo Cons-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 1:18 am

Joe the Plumber is a typical cool aid drinking Republican with lost dreams of riches that keep him voting for the GOP and in dyer financial circumstances. He has bought into the great American myth that he will be rich and part of the elite.

  220. MR on November 2nd, 2008 1:19 am

    This is for David M:

Posting government statistics is just my way of proving you’re an out-and-out liar:

“Causing an unemployment that has not ever been seen before, oh wait it happened before same following of under informed people we had a 30% unemployment and were waiting in lines for gas that was under Jimmy Carter want to guess what party he was in?” – direct quote from the liar Dave M.

  221. ANN G on November 2nd, 2008 1:20 am

DAVID M-you’re not the only one that owns a gun (I live in the deep south where racism is very, very real) I see and smell it every day!!!It smells like you! Here’s a thought-vote for Obama’s white half!!!To suggest that people will riot and destroy their own property or yours is insane-sounds like something the KKK would do(does burning crosses ring any bells)? I for one worked to hard to acquire a home to destroy it! No,I’m not a racist-I’m a professional healthcare worker ,how could I be? I just don’t want 4 more years of the same-our country couldn’t take that! If McCain talked with some sense and hadn’t picked that silly woman ,he probably could win, for me OBAMA just seems to be the better choice!

  222. Doty on November 2nd, 2008 1:20 am

I am shocked at the ridiculous statements on this site.
Does ANYONE remember 9/11? Bush went in pissed as he should have been. He stood strong against those who said to wait. To those in the U.N. that wouldn’t back him up! WE WERE ATTACKED! DON’T YOU REMEMBER? “Bush is the devil”…[edited]! Seriously! Imagine Obama as President and we are attacked again…he would fold. He has NO REAL EXPERIENCE! He has no substance. O.K. so he can paint a pretty picture verbally. That does NOT make for a solid PRESIDENT! Come on! I don’t believe much in either of them (McCain or Obama) but look, you really have to put your loyalty to your party aside in this election and think about the strength of either candidate. I am sliightly impressed that McCain was a POW and survived. That is amazing to me. I admire him as a person but his views on certain issues are too stringent. He leaves no room for circumstance. Yes, I am talking about abortion…I would never have one but there ARE circumstances when I believe with a heavy heart that just maybe it would be best.
AND about Joe the Plumber…who really cares about this “Joe the Plumber” seriously? Grown people with a bit of sense wouldn’t give him a second thought. COME ON PEOPLE! So what he confronted Obama? Who cares if he was hired? Big deal!
PLEASE, PLEASE stop bickering and nit picking and THINK!!!!! SERIOUSLY! There is a chance that Obama maynot have even been born in America…what then? If he wins and this is validated, what then? Come on!
Palin, well, at first I truly believed that she was the breath of fresh air that McCain needed to come alive again but everything about her is “busy”. I mean she is insubordinate for the most part. If you are running for the VICE PRESIDENCY you DO NOT stand up against your running mate! As a role model she is incredible. Honestly! I think that with everything she has on her plate, she is still energetic, positive, and always smiling. Amazing woman.
All I’m trying to say I guess is PLEASE, PLEASE vote responsibly. Think hard before checking that box! We have to figure out who is the lessor evil. Obama is NOT the best choice. We all know it and there is a long laundry list of reasons why but compare with any open mind.
No one will care if you vote outside of your party. WHO WILL KNOW! Do what is right. Become informed. Research ALL of the facts.

Barack Obama in an economic illiterate who poses a serious threat to the American economy. Any economist worth his salt knows that an increase in the capital gains tax will reduce tax revenues from that source. But Obama admitted to Charlie Gibson that he would still increase the capital gains rate out of a sense of fairness. This answer exposes him for the fool he is.

Anyone who really believes that Obama will only tax those making more than $200,000/$250,000 (individual/family) is sadly mistaken. His running mate has already floated the idea that the figure is going to be $150,000, and Bill Richardson dropped it even lower–to $120,000. Once Obama and the Democrats (i.e. socialists) have the power, we can all fear a tax increase to pay for his massive spending proposals.

What Obama counts on is the idea that a majority of Americans will gladly vote to increase taxes on those making more than they make. And once we, as a nation, concede that point, we then hand over to government the power to go after anyone it chooses. Joe the Plumber got in the way of that socialist scenario by stating that he doesn’t covet the wealth of somebody else who earned it. That’s why Joe had to be destroyed: by the media, by Ohio government officials abusing their authority, and by Obama and Biden themselves who held him up to ridicule because he hoped to make $250,000 one day.

Obama’s only appeal is to the political ignorant and morally bankrupt who have been hoodwinked by his slick campaign of narcissistic self-promotion. Let’s face it, Obama is an empty suit, a fraud, a charlatan, a hollow man whose only appeal is to easily led followers anxious to follow a “messiah.” From the hidden hypnosis techniques in his speaking style, the ubiquitous subliminal “Change” mantra, to the 1930s-era Soviet style posters, Obama is a radical elitist who, with the aid of David Axelrod, has manufactured a cult of true believers.

For all the glitter and guile, he is, at bottom, a presumptive emperor without clothes, sporting instead a record of no accomplishment (unless, of course, you count the Saul Alinsky-style training of ACORN staffers, the bag-boy errands for Tony Rezko’s real estate empire, and the waste of millions in foundation monies in the name of Bill Ayers’ crusade to bring revolution to the Chicago Public Schools).

I defy anyone here to research Bill Ayers’ communist revolutionary agenda through the educational system (as openly admitted in front of Hugo Chavez) and the joint role he played with Obama in the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and then explain how a Harvard law graduate would not comprehend what Ayers was about.

With Obama’s political baggage, character, trust, and judgment become paramount in this election. are front and center in this election. His lineup of radical associations define him far more accurately than all the lofty campaign rhetoric and mindless political pandering he dishes out along the campaign trail, from the haunts of the San Francisco super rich to the Pennsylvania hinterlands, where they ”cling to their guns and religion.” Obama hasn’t even surmounted the first hurdle. What were the Democrats thinking when they nominated this neophyte whose only positive attribute is that he can say nothing better than any modern politician can say nothing.

Obama sat in Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years because he bought into the black nationalism and racist rage Wright was spewing. It was a logical extension of what he had already learned from communist poet and pornographer Frank Marshall Davis, and his radical leftist professors at Occidental and Columbia. Indeed, he chose the church because of Wright’s radical worldview, a worldview which comported with his political goals. He came there not looking for religion, but for a springboard for political activism and agitation. Either that, or he was a fool from day one. Take your pick. There are no other choices. Obama was perfectly content to stay in Wright’s church until it threatened to derail his campaign. His public apologia only served to confirm that Obama takes the American electorate for fools.

On Thursday, Charlie Rose and Tom Brokaw had the temerity to admit on national television that neither knew who Barack Obama was (check out the Charlie Rose archive). Now they tell us. In fact, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC and PBS have all engaged in the most one-sided and incompetent reporting in the history of the medium. Only FOX, talk radio, and CNN’s Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck have consistently given us the truth about Barack Obama. For the rest, journalism has died, and Brian Williams, Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson, Chris Matthews, and the lunatic Keith Olbermann are among the pallbearers.

Barack Obama is, quite simply, the most radical and the least prepared candidate of a major political party in modern American history. He can’t be trusted anywhere near the reins of power.

Obama has lied, dissembled, distorted and omitted substantial portions of his biography to fool the gullible members of the American electorate. But anyone with half a brain should be able to see through this phony leftist.

How far back do you want to go, David?

    Under Truman, unemployment averaged 4.0%
    Under Eisenhower, unemployment averaged 4.51%
    Under Kennedy, unemployment averaged 5.5%
    Under Johnson, 4.18%
    Under Nixon, 5.0%
    Under Ford, 8.1%
    Under Carter, 6.5%
    Under Reagan, 7.53%
    Under Bush 41, 6.3%
    Under Clinton, 5.2%
    Under Bush 43, 5.3%

Can you spot the difference now? Can you see the trend? Each time there is a Republican administration, the Democrat administration which follows ushers in a period of lower unemployment rates.

  225. Doty on November 2nd, 2008 1:40 am

One more thing…Obama, why in God’s name would you spend SOOOO much money on frivolous crab when there are children in need of medical attention, food, housing, and clothing HERE IN AMERICA!???? You are showboating. You are addicted to the attention of the media. You should be in Hollywood NOT Washington DC.

  226. liberals-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 1:50 am

KENDELL-Thank you for putting it so eloquently, you have assured me there are people like myself who get the facts and refuse to allow the main stream media to tell me how to vote.i have become dumbfounded and saddened with the way all forms of media bias has tried to sway this election. I have hope the uninformed and even the sheep out there will wake up before tuesday and do the right thing for this country and vote McCain our next President.

  227. MR on November 2nd, 2008 2:02 am

But of course Joe didn’t say he hoped to make $250k one day. He said he was buying a business in the near future worth more than $250k. Which was a lie, just like a lot of the things he says.

More power to him if he wants to get rich one day. We would all like to make more money. But most of us accept that if we’re making that kind of money we will pay more tax.

I think the heart of the Joe The Plumber issue is this: He doesn’t like to pay tax (or bills) at all. Nice dream. The reality is, most of us hardworking people pay our bills and pay our taxes.

The other reality is that many of the ultra-wealthy in this country pay little or no tax due to loopholes in the tax system. See, if you’re rich, you can afford to hire fancy accountants and open offshore accounts and off-the-shelf dummy companies to hide your money from the IRS. That’s what most rich Americans do. So when they squeal about paying more tax – they’re still paying less tax than the rest of us, because they’re only being taxed on a tiny proportion of their income because they can and do avoid paying through these elaborate schemes.

As Keith Olbermann put it, “Both candidates want to spread the wealth – it’s just that John McCain wants to spread it to the wealthy”.

  228. Doty on November 2nd, 2008 2:05 am

    Kendal,
Thank you! That was beautiful. It is refreshing to read an article that has so much truth. I think you should post that exact blog on a website that will get the attention needed.
And for Neo Cons-are-hateful…did you even read the blog? I said that she isn’t ready but thankfully she WON”T be THE President…she will be the VICE President! And McCain will be JUST FINE while in Presidency. So no fear. By the time she IS President in 8 years she’ll be very well informed and experienced. Things will be just fine so go ahead and vote for McCain.

  229. liberals-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 2:53 am

MR where do you get your info about the tax structure? The facts are these—90% of the taxes in this country are paid by the top 10% of rich people & business, there is 40% of workers don’t pay any federal payroll tax at all and the other 50% of workers(middle class) pay the other 10% of taxes.almost half the people i work with will pay around 2,000 dollars to the feds and their tax returns they get back around 4,000 with deductions and kids so guess what?that means they have not paid the feds anything..get it?????GEE people are stupid.

  230. Neo Cons-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 3:07 am

So you share your tax info with colleagues, huh? Pay only 2000 in taxes?

Actresses and actors, book authors and others like them pay their fair share of taxes. It is almost impossible for them to hide their earnings. See Red Fox, Willy Nelson, Wesley Snipes… The business elites, continually hide their wealth and pay a minor share of what they make.

Secretaries pay a bigger percentage of their wages then gold parachute CEO’s!

  231. Neo Cons-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 3:21 am

Ever notice how the majority of gold parachute CEO’s support Republicans, and the majority of Actresses/Actors, Book Authors, Musicians…Support Dem’s.

They already pay their fair share and most of them started with modest means, so they can care about the average Americans plight!

The Admiral sons and Business nepatism favored kids DON’T!

  232. liberals-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 3:36 am

    NEO Wesley,Willie,pay fair share???
they both were found trying to hide assets and under reporting their income both convicted in a court of law..what planet are you from?? actors care about the average folks, some do,majority could care less about you and do more whining then you do.

  233. MR on November 2nd, 2008 3:43 am

Signing off now. In closing, JTP did nothing wrong by asking Obama a question about tax, but comparing the two tax plans, he will be better off under Obama’s than McCain’s on his current income. As an individual, he would only benefit more from McCain’s plan if he made $200k gross – and then only marginally (3-4% of taxable income over $200k).

For somebody earning $300k gross salary, the difference is something like $900.

JTP also asked Obama what he thought about a flat tax and Obama said he wasn’t opposed to the idea in principle.

The most important thing is to close those tax avoidance loopholes which average Americans don’t have the cash to take advantage of. They cost money to set up and you have to keep a big minimum balance in those offshore accounts, you see.

I mean, I’m don’t want to begrudge Bermudans or Cayman Islanders of their high standard of living because they live in a tax haven, but I think all that hoarded, hidden money could be going to better use here. Like investments in green technology to wean us off of oil, to provide quality education to our children instead of the crap system we have now, to help rebuild infrastructure so we don’t have any more bridges collapse in Minnesota, etc.

  234. Neo Cons-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 3:53 am

    Lib,

You missed the main point, THEY could not hide their income from the IRS. Big Business continually DOES! With GOP help to top it off!

  235. Neo Cons-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 3:56 am

    MR

Way to stay on topic and clearly make a point as usual.

I am done wranting for tonight, my homework is done.

  236. Neo Cons-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 4:00 am

    Lib & Doty,

Good luck finding a planet to come back down to when you are done drinking that GOP kool aid with your misguided McCain voting fear believing Sheeple.

I miss that man that I admired in 2000, too bad he took up the same (and worse) tactics of the one who beat him, and screwed us as well as him!

  237. liberals-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 4:04 am

this crap is getting to deep in here, getting to hard to take.i only deal in FACTS and all you Obama sheep need to open your eyes ,do your OWN research don’t listen to the pundits
read obamas plan add up the numbers look back at history for reference look at who he associates with, check his voting record in chicago and the u.s. senate don’t take my word for it check it out yourself, its the least you can do for your country.

it is wrong to elect someone when the strongest attribute he has is speaking well and able to follow a telepromptor well ,and the first thing people say when asked why are you gonna vote for obama? and they say”Cause he’s young and will do better then Bush,we need a change”
do you liberals know how government works?
the president can only sign bills into law that have been vetted and voted on and passed in both the house and senate, the president can’t make his campaign promises into law,it don’t work that way, thats why i don’t understand people who would blame the president for high gas prices he has nothing to do with it,if thats the case why don’t you liberals give him the credit for gas being down to 2 bucks a gal now??

  238. Neo Cons-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 4:12 am

I am blaming people like you Lib, for the mess we are in, way more then I am blaming the president. Like you said he/she can never really do that much, because the elite are runnning the show not the POTUS. That is what you said right?

Night, Night. I have picked on you enough. Just playing devils advocate for the hateful-liberals.

May God smile on you and our country on Nov 5th! Don’t forget to vote..

  239. liberals-are-hateful on November 2nd, 2008 4:28 am

NEO i don’t share with them they do with me because they bitch about paying that little bit and then brag what the return is going to buy when it comes in,even when they got the stimulus check bush sent them they bitched it should be more, some people you just can’t please. i pay alot more then 2 grand i’m honest on my w-2 and my returns unlike some of my co-workers. and plus i own my home and pay property taxes and still can”t get more then 600-700 bucks back at least its more then i use to get back under clinton.Iam not rich far far from it,i know we have to pay taxes, thats life…but government should use taxes for basic services not taxing anyone more then necessary just to create more depts and programs, they can’t agree and get some simple legislation passed why would anyone trust them to run a health care ins dept or think they will do or accomplish all those obama vote buying promises.NOT!

Of course Obama was in no way aware that this wonderful origination was in any way involved in such activity. He will personaly see to it that those behind this are brought to justice, (or just hold off till Wednsday).
And one, and two, and SPIN; right down the toilet, with a cup of Kool Aid to get rid of that nasty taste.

  242. Kendall on November 2nd, 2008 9:07 am

Cutting through the Obama rhetoric, it must be emphasized that the so-called rich already pay the bulk of the taxes in this country, a burden far beyond their proportion of the population. The latest data from the Internal Revenue Service indicates that the top 1% earn 19% of the income, but pay 37% of the taxes. The top 5% earn 33% of the income and pay 57% of the taxes. The top 10% earn 44% of the income and pay 67% of the taxes. Conversely, the bottom 50% (those below the median income level) earn 13% of the income and pay only 3% of the taxes. The above calculations do not include Social Security or Medicare.

Democrats have milked the refrain of making the rich pay their “fair share” so long it makes you want to vomit. They never really define what the “fair share” is. It’s an elastic concept, trotted out every election cycle to catch the next round of gullible voters susceptible to the class envy appeal. but you can be guaranteed that it’s always more than what the rich are currently paying. Otherwise, they would have no issue at the next election cycle. This continual jiggering of income tax rates is, as Milton Friedman used to say, the politicians? re-election program. That’s why so many fear such reforms as a permanent flat tax, or fair tax. Such reforms would provide an incalculably positive benefit to the American economy, not only by spurring economic growth, but by drastically reducing the enormous costs of tax compliance, estimated to total more than $600 billion annually. And we would have the additional positive benefit of adding to the unemployment rolls thousands of Washington lobbyists, many of whom are dedicated to gaining some benefit, or forbearance, from the federal tax code.

Obama would raise the top marginal rate from 35% to 39.6% for those families making more than $250,000 per year ($200,000 for individuals), assuming he would stop there. But he would also remove the cap on Social Security taxes for those earning more than $250,000. For the self-employed who pay both the employee and employer shares of the tax, this would amount to an additional 12.4%, pushing their effective tax rate to more than 50% for all marginal income above the $250,000 level. This change would also transform Social Security from a form of social insurance, with defined contributions and benefits, into a welfare program. Add in state and local taxes and you have a total tax burden of at least 60%, comparable to that of the most advanced socialist welfare economies in the world.

Ironically, when Ronald Reagan lowered the top marginal rate from 70% to 28% in the early 1980s, economic growth increased, people were encouraged to realize more taxable income, and the share of total income taxes paid by the wealthiest 1% of taxpayers rose from 18% to 27%. In the name of ?fairness,? Obama would reverse course and cause a drastic reduction in total revenues by punishing the rich. He has learned nothing from history.

What the American people have to ask themselves is: would you rather have more income tax revenues at lower tax rates to spend on government programs, or the lower revenues which will result by raising the rates on those families making more than $200,000/$250,000 per year. One approach achieves results, the other sacrifices revenue gains for the illusion of fairness. One is grounded in the fundamental principles of economic liberty, the other in the failed ideology of Marxism.

Revealingly, James Pethokoukis, writing in U.S. News and World Report, took a poll of delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver. His survey revealed that the vast majority of delegates do not share Obama’s taste for higher marginal tax rates. In fact, they don’t even know what the current tax rates are. The poll of 24 delegates revealed that 50% of them thought the rich should pay 25% in taxes, while 25% thought they pay should 20%. Only 12% said 35%, the current rate. Another 12% said 30%. The average response of 25.6% was about 10% lower than the current highest marginal rate of 35%. The results highlight the level of elitism and ideological extremism was captured the leadership of the Democratic Party.

Lest you think that Pethokoukis?s findings are a statistical anomaly, consider the results of a June, 2008 Gallup poll:

When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today’s consumer, Americans overwhelmingly — by 84% to 13% — prefer that the government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the jobs situation in the United States as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans.

Americans’ lack of support for redistributing wealth to fix the economy spans political parties: Republicans (by 90% to 9%) prefer that the government focus on improving the economy, as do independents (by 85% to 13%) and Democrats (by 77% to 19%). This sentiment also extends across income groups: upper-income Americans prefer that the government focus on improving the economy and jobs by 88% to 10%, concurring with middle-income (83% to 16%) and lower-income (78% to 17%) Americans.

Barack Obama?s tax proposals are not only dangerous, but woefully ignorant. They are based on fundamentally flawed economic assumptions about the ability of higher taxes to generate additional revenues. They are based on a Marxist hostility to wealth and a willingness to sacrifice revenues for the sake of the illusion of ?fairness.?

Fifteen years ago, San Francisco investment economist and Hoover institution president W. Kurt Hauser published a remarkable study which demonstrated that, regardless of tax rates, tax revenues in the post-WWII era have remained at about 19.5% of GDP. Hauser demonstrated that the federal tax yield held steady at about 19.5% whether the highest marginal rate was 91% (as it was prior to the Kennedy tax cuts) or 35%, (as it is today) and that tax revenue is directly proportional to GDP. His conclusion: if you want to increase tax revenues, you need to increase GDP.

Hauser also points out that economists of all stripes accept the view that a tax rate increase would have a negative impact on tax revenues. He discovered that rising tax rates encourage taxpayers to shift, hide, and underreport income, while higher taxes reduce the incentives to work, produce, invest and save, thereby dampening overall economic activity and job creation. David Ranson concludes that capital migrates away from countries in which it is treated harshly and toward those in which it is free to be invested profitably and safely, and the economics of taxation will be moribund until economics accept and explain Hauser’s law. Hauser’s findings expose the gross economic ignorance of Barack Obama.

I have a question for everyone and I have run across this several times …..why is it when a person disagrees with Obama winning the election that democrats will call you a racist bigot and it happening alot…. you know what is the biggest problem with Mccain and Obama neither speaks much about the most important issue at hand following the constitution and both if elected are going to raise taxes both will and I seem to remember from history we fought against taxation without represetation back in the 1700s I don’t want another war in the US it sometimes scares me so much we are heading that way I don’t know what to do…and …. if either Obama or Mccain would face the public tomorrow and say I lied to you citizens during the campain …But I will try and do my best to run this country as best as I can for the people thats who I would vote for

This is a letter I sent to Ms. Jones-Kelly,
    Re: Director (?) Helen Jones-Kelly,

You should be fired on the spot. You are the very reason that I hate government now. If you are a REAL leader you should go on national television and apologize to Mr. Wurzelbacher and the American people and then you should step down. As a woman, I can say in my humble opinion you have lowered the “glass ceiling” for all of us too. You acted on emotion and gossip and you acted as a follower, not a LEADER. You embody the problems that is our government in America today.

Ma’am, never, ever assume that your actions won’t come back to bite you.

Do the correct action. Resign, apologize and take responsibility for your inestimably horrific decision to give up Mr. Wurzelbacher’s privacy.

    You sicken me.

    Sincerely,
    Tracy Pfau
