Because it helps lower violent crime. States with a CCW law have much lower crime than states with out it. I hold a CCW Permit. In fact alot of law enforcement officers both active and retired not only hold a police officer commission they also hold a CCW Permit. President Bush in 2004 signed the natonal cop carry bill which now says active duty and retired officers can carry in all 50 States. Criminals and terrorists go after people they think are un-armed. They use knives as weapons amoung anything else including a kitchen fork. You maysay a kitchen fork? Yeah, a Deputy Sheriff was killed in the line of duty when a convicted felon attacked him with a fork, the Deputy sprayed him with pepper spray but it didnt work he got stabbed rght into the heart he died instantly. The criminal killed him, a man with all kinds of weapons on a duty belt. What makes You think violent criminals wont harm citizens? Did You know more citizens are killed by criminals every year than the police and military put together ? thats not saying police and military arent important or dangerous. They are dangerous jobs and very needed for defense of our country.
