Did Ayers Babysit Obama’s Kids?

As we all know, Obama wants to diminish his relationship with the unrepentant terrorist, William Ayers. However, the rumors are swirling that their relationship was much closer and personal than Obama wants to admit. Most of the rumors are swirling from a comment left at Just One Minute.
I live in Obama’s neighborhood and know some of the Obama / Ayers crowd. Ayers and Dohrn have babysat the Obama kids personally. The families are personal friends, not just professional acquaintances.
This is of course an anonymous, and unreliable source. However, WND is touting a source as a professor at the University of Chicago stating the same accusation.
“According to a professor at the University of Chicago who said he has known Obama for 12 years, the Democratic presidential hopeful befriended Khalidi when the two worked together at the university. The professor spoke on condition of anonymity. Khalidi lectured at the University of Chicago until 2003 while Obama taught law there from 1993 until his election to the Senate in 2004.
Sources at the University told WND that Khalidi and Obama lived in nearby faculty residential zones and that the two families dined together a number of times. The sources said the Obama’s [sic] even babysat the Khalidi children.
Khalidi in 2000 held what was described as a successful fundraiser for Obama’s failed bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, a fact not denied by Khalidi, who spoke to WND in February.”
I’ve seen no evidence this rumor is true, but Ace says this should go national this week. He is a cautious and reliable blogger. Maybe he knows something I don’t. If it’s true it will do damage.

I could care less if the Obama and Ayers babysat each other’s kids. What I do find disturbing is the FACT that Obama and Ayers collaborated together on the Annenberg project.
The Ayers-Obama relationship is relevant, not so much because Obama socialized with, collaborated on projects with, and accepted campaign funds from a known terrorist. What is even more relevant is what Obama and Ayers accomplished (or should we say, failed to accomplish) while they worked together on the Chicago Annenburg Project, and what this says about their shared educational & political philosophy.
The objective of the well-endowed Chicago Annenburg Project was to improve the education of Chicago’s children.
Ayers and Obama agreed that the core problem with Chicago’s education was that the children suffered low self-esteem due to being forced to buy into what they labeled “white” values and measures of success (such as work hard, go to college, make something of yourselves — which, of course, is what Obama himself did), and not having their own ethnicity affirmed. So they threw lots of money (millions) at programs that helped children explore their African heritage by going through African puberty rituals. Another significant reason they felt the kids weren’t learning was that they didn’t know how to resist the imperialist powers that kept them down; consequently, the kids were also taught how to be good political activists. Obama served shoulder to shoulder with Ayers on the Chicago Annenberg Project from 1995 to 2001, and during that time the children’s achievement scores saw no improvement (which is probably one reason Ayers dislikes achievement tests). The children still didn’t know how to read or write or do math sums very well, or compete in a high-tech society, but they did feel better about themselves and knew how to form unions for welfare recipients. After all, isn’t that what we send our kids off to school to do?
If this is what Obama’s educational philosophy is, and what he accomplished in his tenure with the Chicago Annenberg Project, it is scary to think what he will do with the national education system.
