A note from Radarsite: Now there is something else we know about Sarah Palin, isn’t there? We now know that when she was viciously attacked for her lack of Foreign Policy experience she could have used these facts to her advantage but chose not to. And that, my friends, is what is called character. – rg

So I guess as Commander in Chief she has the ability to launch the missiles whenever she wants?
The governor is Commander in Chief in name only. She has no power to order these troops around because they are under federal command.
Nice try though.
Given Comrade Obama’s ties to organizations such as the New Party, he would, under any normal circumstance, likely be ineligible for ANY security clearance. And *this* is the man that many think is somehow qualified to lead our country??
mj doesn’t seem to know too much about the posse comitatus.
mj also doesn’t seem to understand what missile defense means.
No sense in launching missile defense when there is no incoming missile to defend yourself from. They are not offensive weapons.
duh.
!
Does “mj” stand for what I think it stands for?
Moot point.
BO… You need to disconnect from the Demoncrat/MSM hive mind. It was totally disproven that Gov. Palin ‘conducted official business’ with yahoo mail a very long time ago.
bo, even if that were true, that doesn’t invalidate any of the points listed in the post. Nice try, you fail.
mj doesn’t understand class or why there are briefings. What a maroon…
MJ, you’re missing the point of the text.
Let me spell it out for you: She does have background & experience in Foreign Policy.
The fact that she may not “make the offensive call” is irrelevant for the attack on her experience.
“Nice try though.”
She does not have a security clearance. She does not “sit in” on briefings. She has sent the troops out for floods. This according to the military person in charge of the Guards.
I see she has a red leather jacket to match her lipstick.
“I see she has a red leather jacket to match her lipstick.”
And Katerina, your point is what?
I think she would also look good in a Black Leather Jacket …
Is it that she seems genuinely happy that really frightens you?
Her life choices have kept her happy, this depresses you.
All of the information about Sarah Palin above may be correct, but the conclusion that
she’s “in charge” of this outfit is a little overblown.
When Missiles are coming from Korea is it Gov. Palin calling the shots? or is the President of the United States? Is this situation an Alaskan issue or is it a National Security issue?
It may be within her purview to have this post help out in a state state disaster like
Schwartenegger w/ the California Wildfires.
As far as briefings go, there are plenty of Governors in charge of National Guards in their respective states who get briefed on security issues, Patterson of NY for one.
None of these Governors as far as I know have
broadcasted their knowledge of briefings. They all seem to know how to keep those secrets.
I’m sure also that senators serving on Intelligence Committees are expected to keep secrets that they’re told in private briefings by the CIA, FBI, NSA or whatever.
I take nothing away from the importance of the role of interacting with a National Guard as a Governor of a State, but as has been demonstrated by governors who have served as Presidents, not all have used the information that they’ve been given about national security wisely.
Naturally, when I see rather shrill verbiage like this and then discover the source from an original link, which includes “stop the ACLU,” it’s hardly necessary to forward this stuff to Snopes.com and/or FactCheck.org.
But as long as we’re chatting about it, here’s something readers should consider: Were Sarah Palin deeply involved with “security briefings” and the heady business of “protecting our homeland,” the McCain-Palin campaign and most certainly the RNC (not just Sean Hannity) would be hailing this as further proof “She’s got the mettle to lead!”
As mentioned before, the usual and ordinary tactic associated with these types of sites turned hot forwards is that they just barely skew truthful information, be it for candidate or issue campaigns, to fit their party’s given political agenda.
In this case, the sad truth of this matter is that the Bush administration deployed $60 bil worth of unproven weapons technology to two states — California and Alaska. (You may recall tests where they couldn’t hit a barnyard door from 10-feet away?)
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=94897789&sc=emaf
And bottom line, it’s is a Federally run defense program. Neither Palin nor Schwarzenegger have “security clearances” and they do not “sit in on briefings…” They do, however, deploy troops to fires in California and floods in Alaska. And of course, Guard troops are sent from both states to fight a $3 bil a week war of choice.
Keep in mind, if it sounds outrageous and is not reported in the mainstream media (which rightfully excludes Roger Ailes and “Fox News”), then it’s probably worth a closer look. Simply forwarding this stuff to like-minded friends does nothing to improve the level of intelligence or the quality of information you’re passing along.
first time here, so don’t bite my head off.
the way i like at this, is it’s wrong to let any of this information out on a gov. or sen. that holds our security in their hands.
to let any of this information out is to put their life indanger but their families life also along with the whole U.S.
During the entire ‘cold war’ with nuclear devices and missles on both sides this defense was not needed although Alaska is closer to Russia than it is to Korea. Am I alone in my thoughts as to why?
Oh, and to Mike Thayer, maroon is a nice color!
Why do you Obama trolls underestimate her knowledge, understanding, experience and expertise when you have a Presidential Candidate that considers Iran a small nation and Venezuela a small threat?
Talk. talk, big talk but never done the walk.
two items about the obuma/biden ticket’s funding and active support by the foreign terrorists and their agents in the U.S.:

Foreign deployments of Guard units and the operation of national defense assets like the Ft. Greely missile interceptors are not the responsibility of state governors. Those functions come under the regular U.S. military chain of command.
According to the Book of Revelations the ani-christ is: A man in his 40’s of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ like appeal…the prophecy says people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything…
Hmmmmm I wonder who this is?
Rick, I’d like to run your crap through snopes but there are no facts to check. Regardles of what you “think” about Gov Palins experience for the VP, your ignorance in these matters is blatently obvious. “Bush administration depoloyed” etc. Can’t you stay on subject? By the way, here’s a news flash, Bush is not running, can’t run.
Tall: I don’t care for Obama but I do know my scripture and I suggest you go read the book of Revelations now. Muslims did not even exist at the time the Bible was written. It says nothing about a Muslim man or a man in his 40’s. Also, please go read 1st and 2nd John, where the “antichrist” is mentioned several times. It is described as ANYONE who denies that Jesus is the Christ and Paul also writes in 1 John 2:18 that “even now many antichrists have come.” It is not even one specific person, but many. The scripture is God’s word. If you do not know it, don’t pretend to quote it and make up wild things that are not in scripture. That is blasphemy!
Actually, as a National Guard Unit, it may be overseen by the feds, but Sarah Palin has supreme authority over any goings on with the battalion. And, since it is not an offensive unit, as has been so astutely observed, she does not have the power to launch counterstrike missiles. She has the supreme authority to defend the nation, and given the way Putin has been acting, I would not say that this is anything to be taken lightly. She is debriefed regularly because ultimately- She Makes The Call.
Palin has no control over the primary mission of that unit that is on active duty and under control of 100th MDB which is HQ’d in Colorado. As a unit of NORTHCOM, it comes under control of the Army Space & Missile Defense Command. Palin isn’t in that chain of command and she hasn’t any launch authority. All she can do is use them (the Alaska National Guard) to help in state natural disasters, and then not the active duty units like this missile unit. Her highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism briefings and basically the same as the briefings that all state governors get about their Guard units.
BobW thank you for pointing out the fact everyone else seemed to have missed. And I’d point out another fact, while she may be commander of the Alaska National Guard, the Commander-in-Chief of any U.S. military unit is in fact the President of the United States.
either way you people look at…sarah palin has more experience than obama the community organizer. People can say what they want about him but all the obama kool-aid drinks will see where this country is in 4 years and see THEY screwed up big time for electing him.
And as far as the Anti-Christ thing goes…The last time i checked (which i do very often) the Anti-Christ will come from the East probably Russian…So you people who say Obama is the anti-christ are full of yourself and are Typical americans thinking the Anti-Christ is going to be from the United States. Just goes to show how selfish Americans are
How disingenuous and desperate of you. IN fact, Palin was the only person among Biden, Obama and McCain who was not cleared to receive security briefings and never did receive them.
