McCain is too old for this job. He’s too out of touch and his VP doesn’t know anything. I’m just being honest.

Obama is clearly the best man for the job. Period.

Obama won. McCain just keeps highlighting that there are two Obamas running in this election and McSame is one of them. He sounds very much like a democrat and Obama even had a real conservative view on trade. I mean the Goldwater type of conservative, not these Socialist Republicans. Bottom line, McCain sold out a long time ago.

Which one of the candidates opposed the bailout? Neither Obama or McCain.

First answer McCain gave of the night…”Outright liberalism…he’s no real conservative…buying mortgages for irresponsible people…sounds like something Obama would do.”

Romney was the guy, but republicans are stuck with an inept, McCain. He’s nothing.

Then McCain’s shameful, low moment…McCain pandering to a plumber…telling him what he’s going to do for him. Shame, shame.

McCain is pathetic and Palin is a nobody. She’s just like a street kid playing the dirty dozens on a corner. All she has are lies and insults. That’s it. She’s an empty dress. Empty headed fools. Both of them.

If nothing else, the debate last night proved once and for all that John McCain is simply not up to the task of leading the free world. He was impetuous, sarcastic, and (again), seemed angry.

Obama on the other hand was Cool Hand Luke on all the issues, including the mine field that goes by the name of William Ayres. Clearly, there was no “there” there, and Obama’s masterful handling of the topic left McCain looking petty and small.

Having said that, I think that this was McCain’s best performance to date … which is to say that it was too little too late, and he’s simply not in the same league as Obama. McCain won by a nose on points, but on style, grace under pressure, and sheer ‘presidentiality,’ he never had a chance. Barack Obama WILL be the 44th president of the United States, and it is my hope that Republicans will get behind him as the Democrats did just after 9/11. We’re all in the same leaky boat right now, and it’ll be a lot easier to bail if we’re all in rhythm.

You’d better hope the wingnuts win the election fraud war, and you are installed as veep. Because life in Alaska will be very, very dark if you don’t — and I’m not talking about the lack of sunlight in winter. I’m talking about you, in your basement, scrambling to find paperwork to give Mr. Auditor when the IRS audits you back to the Stone Age, and the citizens are pounding at your door with a recall petition.

McCain DID NOT need a “knockout blow” tonight as the MSM would have to believe. He did what he had to do and in the way he had to do it. This race is closer than we are led to believe. Most of the “undecided voters” are nothing of the sort. They are McCain/Palin voters that don’t want to admit it to pollsters and pundits. I think there’s only been one election since Jimmy Carter that was even remotely close and every one of them had the Democrats either winning or the Republicans with only a slim lead when in fact they were on the verge of a landslide victory. I also believe there are a lot of voters that will say they are voting for Obama for expediency yet when the curtain closes, they will vote for McCain because of Sarah Palin. This race is a lot closer than what is being reported and if voter fraud in swing states is kept in check we’ll see a McCain victory.

McCain did great. I agree with Rove. When McCain wins, the media will just say it’s a sad day in America, racism is still prevalent. The media has so many attorneys posing as reporters that they have lost the “reasonable person” standard in assessment of elections. Too much parsing everything. That is why “Joe the Plumber” has taken center stage. He represents the reasonable person in America. Trials are decided on the “reasonable person standard. The so called media, including Fox has spent too much time around each other vs. the real American person!

FOX News is becoming a disconnected blog of beltway blather.
Fred Barnes lives in never never land. Juan Williams is a bitter moderate who wants to be liberal but is covering his a** to keep the exposure he gets on FOX.
Bill Kristol seems to be suffering from early Alzheimer’s. Charles Krauthammer is so far removed from the average American he doesn’t know how to evaluate political lingo so it resonates with them. He is also very much pro choice so this colors his political thinking greatly.
Brit Hume is basically always steady and balanced.

Substance — McCain in a walk.

Style — Obama in a strut.

McCain needed to establish a real theme and hammer it. Namely — no matter what Obama says about securing your economic future, his extremist allies and his record on the life of unborn children, cut through the steam and the stage smoke and look at the facts. He did that to a degree at times, but he has such a hard time confidently slamming the manhole cover down on Obama’s head on the numerous issues on which he could have done so.

Unfortunately, most people in this celebrity culture are more drawn to stagecraft than a solid, if unspectacular, proven commodity. So even though McCain is clearly the more substantial figure, which he proved again tonight, Obama will be judged to have won this debate.
