Jack Murtha: Senior citizens and military veterans in western PA are RAAAAACIST!
How very shocking of him to say so. I mean, the term RAAAAAAACIST!!!!! isn’t being used every time someone criticizes Obama or anything. Now, why exactly are the senior citizens and military veterans of western Pennsylvania RAAAAAAACISTS!!!! according to Murtha, Marine-slanderer extraordinaire? Because they took too long to like Obama! DUH!
Mr. Murtha said it has taken time for the state’s voters embrace a black presidential candidate.
“There’s no question Western Pennsylvania is a racist area,” said Mr. Murtha, whose district stretches from Johnstown to Washington County. “The older population is more hesitant.”
Mr. Murtha said groups he deals with regularly, such as military veterans and senior citizens, have come around to supporting Mr. Obama in the past three months. He credited Mr. Obama with being the most organized candidate he has ever seen.
Most organized candidate EVAH?! Uh, that’s not what I’ve heard, buddy.
Now, just imagine what four years under President Barack Obama will be like. Disagree with Dear Leader Obama? RAAAAAACIST! Don’t like one of his policies? RAAAAAACIST! Think that Obama’s brand of socialism is not the best way to run the country? RAAAAACIST!
Oh, wait… aren’t those his constituents he’s calling racist? Here’s hoping they’re listening.

Some good news unrelated to this story which I thought the contributors here might like. This, in spite of the ACLU:

Now, just imagine what four years under President Barack Obama will be like. Disagree with Dear Leader Obama? RAAAAAACIST! Don’t like one of his policies? RAAAAAACIST! Think that Obama’s brand of socialism is not the best way to run the country? RAAAAACIST!
Here’s the problem with the above line of attack: it will eventually create a “radicalizing moment” for millions of white Americans. One day a lot of them will look into their bathroom mirrors, grin, and tell their reflections, “Yeah, I guess I really am a racist and, damn, it feels pretty good.”
What that day comes, all bets will then be off.
What if Murtha is telling the truth? Why are you offended? He’s not saying that these people are lynching and burning crosses. He’s saying that they harbor prejudice against African Americans. Have you seen Richard Trumka’s speech? He’s from Western Pennsylvania and talks about the racism he’s seen in his own town.
Are you offended at the notion that racist people still might be in America and that Murtha acknowledged that?
Its not a great way to reap votes, MJ.
WPa is a pretty amiable area. They’ll support and pony up to just about any cause (Whiskey Rebellion, anyone???), but they don’t take kindly to being pidgonholled or being proclaimed something totally abhorrent.
Its as bad as going into Braddock or the Pittsburgh Hill District, with U-Hauls full of fried chicken/watermelons, looking for votes. I was raised in Aliquippa, and, its as ethnic and diverse as any Philly area. And, its the closest community I’ve ever been apart of. Its not perfect, but they know they’re all in it together.
Its as tolerant and diverse an area as you can get. And, they’ve suffered heavily after the heavy industry left the area, and Harrisburg left them high/dry. But, it endures, and lives on. Its home, and, will always be.
There is certainly racism still about, but casting such a broadcloth is unwarranted, asinine, and a bone-headed move.
But, you come to expect that from ABSCAM Jack…
Reminds me of many PA towns – we hate whites, blacks, Poles, Slavics, Jews, Italians, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Arabs, Russians, Straights, Gays, but most especially, we hate outsiders. We will defend our idiots from our town. Mrtha might find that attitude to bite him in the rear.
This may hurt Obama in Western Pensylvania as Jesse Jackson’s opinion might hurt him with Jews. We shall see.
