The Doomsday Poll: Obama Gains 14 Point Lead

Posted on October 14, 2008

Woe are we! It is doomsday once again. Another poll by the “trustworthy” sources of CBS and the ever “patriotic” New York Times have spoken, and we may as well just give up. Yes the numbers are jawdropping!

Maybe I’m lame, but I’m gonna have to agree with the McCain camp on this one….this poll is an outlier! Other polls are not reflective of this kind of wild swing. This poll is five points higher than Gallup, and nine more than Rassmussen. Calm down folks, this poll is nothing to hit the panic button on.

Hillbuzz breaks it down:

The CBS/NYT poll uses a party ID sample of: 37% Democrat, 29% Republican, and 33% Independent.

That means the CBS/NYT poll creates a party ID advantage for Democrats of 8% = doubles the party ID advantage Democrats have ever enjoyed historically.

There’s no valid explanation for giving the Democrats DOUBLE the party ID advantage they should have — unless you just want to skew the poll so you guarantee Obama is a big winner.

Also see Hot Air.

As AJ Strata explains…garbage in, garbage out. Math isn’t for everyone. if you really want to see something scary , watch this!

Update: Zogby only had a six point lead for McCain today as well, and according to Drudge will show a narrowing on Wednessday to a four point spread. Within the margin of error. Stop sweating, just make sure you vote.

CBS/NYT polls are designed to discourage and are skewed to favor Obama. Hopefully, the Rep base can hold it together, and not shoot down the ticket themselves. McCain/ Palin
appeal to the base and to many disaffected democrats. I am a democrat who is voting for McCain and i know there are many other democrats not supporting the phony Obama. I see all these polls, but a lot of people are very silent about this race for fear of intimidation and resent Obama being shoved down our throats. McCain needs to be presidential in the debate, but also talk about drivers licenses for illegal aliens and other hidden positions of Obama. The economy is important, but so is the totality of the character of the presidency as well as which man really deserves the job.

Theresa, you are very right and I am one of the people you are speaking of. I’m a black democrat and WILL NOT be voting for Obama. Trust me, we all see the biased media, the incorrect polls, the “racist” fear tactics and we are not fools.

Obama and his supporters have turned many off. The magnitude is far greater than you can even imagine.

Um, party weight advantage in polls went from 4% to 8% because *party* advantage went from 4% to 8%–Democratic party registration numbers are up, everywhere. This has been documented for months and months, you folks need to pick up a (normal) newspaper.

CBS and the New York Times are skewed to favor Obama and any other liberal democrat period.
