Theaters Defrauding Ticket Sales From ‘An American Carol’ Film?

Posted on October 7, 2008

-By Warner Todd Huston

An American Carol debuted this past weekend and there have been some disturbing reports that ticket sales for the film have been fraudulently credited to other films in cineaplexes all across the country. The rumors are so persistent that the American Carol folks have added a section to their website for movie-goers to report the fraud. The filmmakers are reporting that at least 10 theaters are being investigated for this fraudulent practice.

So, if you have attended this film and happen to still have you ticket stubs, take a look at them to see if you were credited with having paid to attend the right movie.

There has also been a few reports by Eric Odom that some venues have incorrectly identified the rating for the film as sporting an “R” rating instead of the proper “PG-13″ that the film rating board actually gave it.

We’ll have to keep an eye on this situation, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it turned out that certain people are trying to doom this film.

Judging by the reviews and clips I’ve seen, the film is trying to doom the film.

LOL. With that you may be right.

You might want to see the movie before you review it! Of course if you had a job you might not be up at 4:00am giving movie reviews based on trailers alone and you could probably afford to buy a ticket.

I saw it and laughed my butt off. Too funny! This is the only comedy that I’ve ever been to that at the end of the movie the audience broke out into applause because everyone could relate to just how true it is.

My teenage sister works in a movie theatre and told me that virtually no one went to see American Carol.

Conspiracy theories aside, maybe it didn’t look funny or have the broad appeal that you wanted it to have.

One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. Very, very funny!!!! Maybe not what the average liberal would call “politically correct”… but ya gotta laugh at some of this stuff! AND it actually had a pretty damn good message, too!!

Hey this movie was right on target. It was very funny and had a great message for those who were actually informed enough to get it. A good hard core liberal loving, rosie and michael moore loving person may be offended! And thats OK!

No doubt about it – this film is hysterically funny and it’s a major hit. Look at all the reviews flooding in here.! Wow, those sneaky liberals, trying vainly to keep a great film down. DAMN SNEAKY LIBERALS!!
