Oh, I won’t disagree, Libertarian Girl, methane is the largest output of greenhouse gases from man, coming from agriculture and garbage dumps. Not much can be done with agriculture, even if we switched to a vegetarian diet, since plants release methane, too. We could do something about garbage dumps, though

Just to be clear, I am not making fun of vegatarians, but, climahysterics who are vegetarians who want to force everyone else to live their lives a certain way.

You are correct on the methane on ocean beds, particularly around the Mid Atlantic Trench, where the vulcanism has been more active then normal, melting the methane beds, Angie.

Interesting, though, that they no one mentions anything about the massive amounts of methane lying in the ocean beds, or that it is believed that warming and release of said methane may have contributed to global warming loooong loooong ago.

I’m a vegetarian, and I do believe the core of this argument is correct. Vehicle emissions are a small fraction of greenhouse gas emissions, and methane is a large cause of it.

That said, this is exactly why I’m firmly against any type of regulations on carbon emissions– they’re absolutely pointless unless the cause of the problem is dealt with. Carbon emissions are a tiny fraction of methane emissions.

For the record, I also attend weddings, backyard barbecues, football parties, baseball games and have a fine time on Valentine’s Day without any problems as a vegetarian.
