The bailout: McCain is the Man who Got Action
Posted on September 29, 2008
He secured the compromises without which there was no way that House Republicans would have supported the bill. Obama talks about bringing people together. McCain does it
Weisman’s article sums up the objectives of both McCain and Obama:
“McCain has been trying to help the House guys, trying to get their ideas into the broader bill,” said a senior Republican Senate aide. “If McCain can do that, he can bring 50 to 100 House Republicans to the bill. That would be a big damn deal.” . One Republican in the room said it was clear that the Democrats came into the meeting with a “game plan” aimed at forcing McCain to choose between the administration and House Republicans.
If Democrats did succeed in forcing McCain to choose between House Republicans and President Bush, McCain chose wisely. President Bush is effectively a lame duck and without the support of House Republicans John McCain cannot be elected President. But more to the point, without McCain’s action to stop the runaway freight train that the Obama-Dodd-Frank-Paulson bill had become, the bill might very well have failed to gain passage in the House causing further panic in world financial markets.
In an orchestrated attempt to showcase Obama’s leadership ability, it’s clear that instead, Obama only served to foster division by stoking the unease House GOP leaders felt over being pressured to sign off on what they knew was a bad bill. Weisman described Obama’s participation at the White House meeting as a “hectoring performance” certainly not one designed to win over converts to the Democrat plan.
McCain’s performance was much more presidential. Instead of doing all the talking, he LISTENED to what House GOP leaders were saying instead of trying to browbeat them into a bad agreement. And in the end, McCain is motivated by lifelong principles dedicated to protecting the taxpayer from big government boondoggles which is exactly what the Democrat plan pushed at the White House had become. If the current compromise passes, as many insist it must to avoid financial disaster, there will be only one man to thank: John McCain!

We all know how this whole bailout vote is going to turn out don’t we.
Congressional leaders are going to count noses to make sure they have enough votes and then they are going to allow those in tough competitive races to vote against it.
That is why I often compare this whole thing (politics) to a wrestling match. All choreographed ahead of time.
That is why even if my Congressperson votes No I am still not very inclined to let him or her off the hook as they are still just playing the game.
I need to see some very strong opposition otherwise a mere no vote will not gain anything with me.
I guess the Nation is always going to see this financial bailout as being the Republicans Fault. And you know, if the McCain Campaign won’t stand-up for themselves then they deserve to lose.
Here is the truth about who caused the financial crisis.

But truth doesn’t mean as much as people think it does.
Here’s another video you might find interesting.
But again, if McCain isn’t willing to fight for himself, then why should I put much energy into fighting for him.
A good tv ad on this would just totally blow Obama away.

The Republicans should have walked away from this and told the Dems to pass it themselves. They have the majority, why are they so afraid to lead? Then every Republican can campaign on the Fannie/Freddie bailout and tell America the truth; that they wouldn’t use the tax money of responsible Americans to bail out Wall Street or K Street, but the Democrats did.
Hey, Matt? You do know that your party has a majority in both houses and can simply vote for the bailout bill without one single Republican vote. Fail PSCI 1100 much? Why did 90 of them vote nay? Why won’t they simply pass the bill and take credit for it? Fannie, Freddie, and Goldman Sachs Democrats! Main Street, my a$$! These people are watching the backs of their largest contributors.
John McCain is total idiot. First he picks a VP who has zero experience and much less common sense. His campaign is run by lobbyists who only know how to use the republicans to make money out of America. Then he goes off to create a mess of the bill that was more important than any bill since the last great depression. The American people can see through this idiot.
Bush and McCain has effectively destroyed the GOP and any goodwill it may have had. The Perfect combination of Dumb and Dumber and then they picked Palin .. the dumbest.
The drop in people’s savings because of this vote will resonate through the next month and the GOP is looking at a political armageddon. too bad they had to eat all our savings with it …
I cant believe McCain is not naming names and exposing the Democrat politicians and the Fredie and Fannie CEO’s that are on Obama’s side… What an Idiot.. I am so disappointed in McCain.. He had a perfect opportunity to expose these people and blow Obama away on the debate. There were 54 million viewers.. He blew it and with it the election. The american people want blood for this mess and McCain can point out the names of these people!!! Instead he states that no blame should be placed yet… The dems are placing this mess at Bush’s feet and by extension McCain’s. Can’t he see this??? Is he senile???? He is supposed to be the reformer.. He should be acting like he is outraged at the corruption and instead is trying to make nice with Pelossi… Unbelievable
