Aw, Those Poor Illegal Alien Sex Offenders

Sniffle

A teenage sex offender was removed from a custodial treatment facility because he’s an illegal immigrant and no one would pay.

The question of who gets to enroll in community college has sparked more debate, but this case touches on bigger concerns. Public safety is at stake.

The juvenile, identified as “D.G.” in court proceedings, admitted to a first-degree sex offense in Burke County three years ago. He was 15. The victim was a 5-year-old boy. (major snip)

The matter of D.G. is complicated and confusing, but cases like this should be handled with the public interest in mind. For a juvenile sex offender, the best course is to provide treatment in hopes his dangerous behavior can be corrected. Immigration status should not be considered. Denying treatment on the grounds that D.G. didn’t have a legal right to live in this country didn’t make sense because D.G. was living here, and it would be foolish to assume that would change.

Three points:

  1. We wouldn’t even be having this debate if the government would do what the majority of Americans want, and that is to uphold the law. In some instances, they do, more at the county level then anything else.
  2. Why should Americans have to pay to rehabilitate this scum sucker? Deport his worthless a** or throw him in jail. Last time I checked, 1st degree sexual assault on a minor was supposed to result in hard time.
  3. Can you tell what kind of story that is? News or opinion? When you cannot tell the difference, is it not time to question exactly what the media is doing?

As Warner Todd Huston pointed out earlier, we on the Right do not want to destroy the Credentialed Media, just highlight their biases, and perhaps get them to practice their craft with some integrity and some neutrality. Opinion is fine. If Mo Dowd or any of the BDS/PDS folks at the Grey Lady and other outlets want to go off the reservation, go for it. That is their job. Opinion. But, too often nowadays it is difficult to tell the difference between a news story and an opinion piece.

Why doesn’t the “journalist” offer to pay for D.G.’s treatment himself (or herself)?

I believe the saying is “Put your money where your mouth is.” Only this instance we need the follow up of “not MY money where Your mouth is.”

Now I must admit, I was a bit divided over the community college issue here in NC for illegal aliens. I figure if the feds are going to leave it up to the States (which they really shouldn’t…) then each individual state should do what is best for itself.

If there are illegal aliens who might become very good teachers, scientist, doctors, etc and prove themselves in high school by studying hard, staying out of the trouble and distinguishing themselves, then it would be silly for us to turn away the talent. Wouldn’t it?

Let them go to community college on the stipulation that they will remain in the state and use that education for the benefit of the people in the state.

But, that is a very small percentage–but it the percentage that is always used by the media to show what a big bad country we are, wanting to deny bright students their bright future.

(What they never tell you is that there are actually colleges in many South American countries!

How much does it diss those universities and colleges to suggest that the kid’s future is doomed because they cannot get into a college here because they were not supposed to be her in the first place!)

So, that is why I am divided. I think truly bright students should know what the reality is and plan for it–they are here illegally and should seek to enter a school where they are in fact a citizen.

But, I also consider that a state should do what would benefit it the most. Here in NC, there doesn’t seem to be that much competition for community colleges. They are very good schools, with teachers that are outstanding.

If you can transform someone from a smart and hard working “illegal alien” into a well educated resident who contributes time and talent to the state then that is great!

And that is why also in the case mentioned above, I agree with deported D.G. He has not proved himself. Even if he were able to be treated–what does that gain us? An “ex-sex-offender?”

How does benefit our community? It doesn’t!

Wow, I really hate doing this, but I only partially agree with you. I really do see what the county is doing and have a different solution. A couple of points, I will do this by the numbers and keep it short:
    1. Yes, the creep is here illegally–he probably came over with his parents, which is why the line of “he was living here anyway” came into play.
    2. The treatment centers in question are pretty much prisons. They used to be called insane asylums. The only reason DG is there and not prison is because of his age. He would either be killed in prison or subject to becoming like his victim. Really no sympathy from me either way, his victim was five, I would have shot him and saved everyone the trouble! I am just trying to outline the logic used not to lock him up for good!

Here is my quick and easy solution to address both. For the good of society, it has been decided that this kid must be kept separate from everyone else. Either prison or death. Since both were considered too harsh due to his age, they met a halfway point (yeah, I just loooove doing things halfway *sarc*). The solution is to keep him in the virtual prison of the “treatment center” and bill the government of what country he came from for the treatment. If that government does not pay up, ship his sorry a$$ back to said country with a full report and court findings for what he did and let them take care of him. No longer my problem.

I can hear the liberal canards about separation from family and all that. Tough noogies! This kid gave up being treated as a human when he raped a five year old! Period! Add a condition to his release if he is shipped back to his homeland: should he ever be found within the confines of the USA again, he will be immediately placed in maximum security prison to serve out his sentence as an adult.

Like I said before my way too long of a response, I see why the county is doing what they did, but at the same time, I like a hard solution to problems and issues like child rape. So, keep him and bill his country of origin or ship him back with a DO Not Return stamp.

    Apologies for being so long…
