Lynn, I’m not sure “return to” would be accurate. Molestation is as old as man, but the parents should have the responsibility to prepare their young children.

Today, if older children are abusing the younger, of course, that isn’t right. We have some checks and balances. They usually work…sometimes they fail. We cannot right every wrong, try as we might. There’s no way to know who is right, so I choose the parents.

I have a sex education book from 1911 that discusses the rampant molestation in a school amongst the students…by older students..the book is called “Herself…Talks with women Concerning themselves” by E.B. Lowry, MD. Probably highly controversial for its time; the good doctor was prohibited by law to discuss any type of contraceptive in the book, but had lots to say about “self-abuse”..his term, not mine. anyway…this had apparentloy gone on for a long time, because the students did not talk about sex with their parents at that time, and some were too afraid..this was 1911!!!!!! Come on..is this what you want a return to?

From Hyscience: This is the exact SEICUS curriculum. While it may be correct, only a parent should be teaching this at kindergarten to 5th grade.

To the John McCain poster: That was my point. SEICUS went far beyond inappropriate touching, and I put the words in the article.

Obama did not tell the truth about his intentions for the Bill.

Frank,what I intended to say is: I don’t know how inappropriate touching can be taught in schools. I gave scenarios demonstrating how ludicrous it is to tell multiple children about a situation they are not able to separate from Mom and Dad and other people, at the age of 5.

Parents understand this. They don’t need the education. They just need everyone else to leave their child alone. I don’t think parents are ignorant on inappropriate touching – maybe on other parts of sex ed, but not this.

If you have young children, take some time to educate yourself, for their sake. It is because of parents as ignorant on this subject as you that our nation’s kids need and deserve age-appropriate sex ed at school.

We have 7 kids. We taught 6 about inappropriate touching at 4 years old. One is three now and we know that at 4 he will be able to understand what a safe touch and a bad touch is as we, the parents, teach it. They also know what appropriate relationships regarding gender and age is, no thanks to the schools and the media.

So parents take heart, because there is a such thing as appropriate teaching!

AirborneVet: I agree. I’m not even sure if, in the lower grades, a parent sitting in is sufficient. I guess it depends on how often the classes will be conducted. Who knows what they say when you’re not there.
