Kim, because you post something, you might want to actually do a little research. That e-mail going around with Obama "refusing" to say the pledge has been discredited and explained since 2007. I'm not even a huge fan of either candidate, and even I know to do a little research first. And just to save you a little future heartache ... those e-mails you're sent concerning getting money from AOL for forwarding their e-mail, making money from a foreign bank that has a bunch of money to release and they only need your bank account number to do it, and the ones concerning a national "gas out" day ... those are all fake. Educate yourself a little bit before spouting off next time.

What makes Americans somewhat unique and great is our not always pursuing our own parochial interests. Saving a people from a genocidal tyrant at great cost to ourselves in lives and resources falls into that category as does the desire to see everyone in the world enjoy the blessings of freedom and democracy that we all share. I imagine most people in Kansas realize this.

Obama has made clear he intends to gut the military in his own 52 second clip on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxL8NcNACBY

Set a goal of a "world without nuclear weapons"? Someone tell Obamessiah, you can't uninvent weapons of war. You can ban them, but without a strong military, how can you deter rogue nations from building their own nuclear weapons? Soft power has its limitations, see Czechoslovakia in 1938.

Obama has no military record, no foreign policy record, no economic record and has authored no significant legislation. John McCain is a combat-veteran and POW that commanded the largest squadron in the US Navy, he's authored significant legislation on campaign finance reform, and will cut taxes so that companies can create more jobs instead of Obama's plan to tax companies and destroy jobs so he can send out $1,200 to people that are not net taxpayers.

What good is $1,200 going to do you if you lose your $30K a year job because your employer's business taxes were raised? Only a spoiled child prefers a one-time handout to long-term economic stability.

But then again, "spoiled child" does perfectly describe many of Obama's supporters, doesn't it?

Bush's war is probably the most damaging event any American president has ever perpetrated against Americans. As an Army Vietnam veteran, I submit that Bush's war is many times more calamitous than Vietnam........I would urge those of you who are smug in your hatred of Obama, and are, like Bush, averse to facts, to read the book by Frank, "What's the Matter With Kansas". It lays out how the Rove strategy served to gull folks who do not think for themselves to vote against their interests. I probably support the troops more than any of the writers herein, having been there myself....I support to the extent that I don't want them to keep dying for Bush's lies......

Um, actually, yes, the Iraq War has been, and still is, a mistake. And it's a mistake that I strongly believe that only Senator Obama has both the will and the ability to rescue us from.

Obama"s book as well as his public positions make it clear that he would not hesitate to use force, if force was the most appropriate option. However, Mr. Bush’s and Mr. McCain’s choice to use force would come sooner, before options have been exhausted, because their decision to use deadly force is really an effort to garner support and therefore fire up and preserve his political base. Iraq was not the result of “no other choices” being available. It was a political decision. With Bush-McCain, the choice to use force would, as it did in Iraq, cost more lives on both sides, both military and civilian. It would also result in us being more hated in the war zone.

Obama's plans will result in better relations with allies as well as a reasserting of America’s moral authority in the world. A vote for Obama is a vote for a more patriotic America, an America in which the president sees our military forces as a precious natural resource, not as a commodity to be spent foolishly and to be spoken about as a punch line.

So far as patriotism is concerned, I submit that as a half-white agent of change, Barack Obama puts his life on the line every day as he goes forth and asks us if we really, really want to continue a war between ethnic groups in Iraq that we got into under false pretenses and that has been going on for 1500 years- That’s not a typo- 1500- This man who some of you think has no business running for office in the first place, puts himself in the sight of the potential assassin’s bullet daily, as he asks us to consider his proposals for a better, smarter and more honorable and humane America.

Many people are struggling and failing daily to find some substantive reason why Obama is not the best thing to happen to America, struggling to find some reason that will mask the true reason for this column in the first place.

Thank you and God Bless You! You are absolutely right! John McCain has my vote also. I will not vote for a man who will not put his hand on his heart and say the pledge of allegiance, honor America, or support our troops. If he cannot respect our country - then why does he want to be the leader of it?
My vote may not mean anything but one vote, but to me, I am giving my vote, my entitlement of making a choice to someone who not only loves our country but has fought for it. We owe all of our servicemen and women who are away from their families, who sacrifice everyday respect and voting for B.O. is like a slap in the face to them and will be to us if he is elected into office.
