Couple of things on Gov. Palin’s brilliance

The Community Organizer and The Commuter are both shivering with their heads under the covers crying for Momma.
She even threw a wet blankie on the CNN crew.
Anyone think Joe Biden reeeeeeeeeeeeeally wants to step into that debate?
Bet The Memoirist didn’t count on a handicap match.
Why did several commentators insist on mentioning that someone else wrote the speech? As Brit Hume pointed out, EVERYONE has their speech written for them. Sounded like she had a a lot to say about what she said though. You can’t be that authentic, or that frikkin’ funny, without having had major input.
Team Lame-O(bama)’s weak-arse respose from Politico: Obama camp responds to Palin
Says spokesman Bill Burton:
The speech that Gov. Palin gave was well delivered, but it was written by George Bush’s speechwriter and sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years. If Gov. Palin and John McCain want to define ‘change’ as voting with George Bush 90 percent of the time, that’s their choice, but we don’t think the American people are ready to take a 10 percent chance on change.
They don’t have a clear line of attack on Palin herself in there.
Understatement. They obviously have no idea what do and had no idea what they were up against. Team JObama is in crisis mode. Just say “change!” Just say “change!” Say “Bush,” too! ErrrrrrArrrrrgghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
She not only made me love her, she got this skeptical, hesistant guy to board the Straight Talk Express.
Gov. Palin delivered one of the best political speeches of our generation, but as someone wise said today…the battle is not won on the air, but on the ground. Time to get to work now.

Former LA Times religion beat reporter William Lobdell: Blogging Sarah Palin — LIVE!
8:09 p.m.: Palin has just hijacked the presidential campaign. I’ve got a skeptical, Obama-loving wife and some liberal sons, and they all think she killed it.
8:05 p.m.: Palin has managed to make Obama look insignificant, McCain appear heroic, and herself: a grassroots American who won’t back down from a fight.
8:03 p.m.: I wasn’t prepared to like her, and I don’t. I LOVE her.
8:01 p.m.: Holy crap! She’s a pitbull and has opened a can of Whoop-a** on Barack Obama.
7:57 p.m.: I’m guessing Jack Bauer of “24? would vote for Gov. Palin.
7:56 p.m.: Oh boy. She is Obama’s worst nightmare. An attractive politician with a great sense of humor is a lethal combo.
7:54 p.m.: The line about “authoring two memoirs” but not a single bill in the Senate was great.
7:52 p.m.: She’s made a great impression. Tough administrator, not a part of the old boys’ network. As my wife just said, “She makes me want to go to Alaska.”
7:48 p.m.: Governor’s jet on E-Bay? Classic.
7:46 p.m.: Do you hear that? It’s America falling in love with Sarah Palin.
Hugh: She Winds. She Shoots. She Scores.
The contest has changed. Her character and candor have changed it, and John McCain’s judgment is vindicated.

Tonight, we either saw a watershed in American politics, a tour de force, the most striking and graceful debut in our nation’s political life, and a national introduction that makes Barack Obama’s 2004 convention address look like small potatoes… or we saw what we wanted to see, and the country’s persuadable independents saw something else. I’m afraid to believe. If I’m wrong, I don’t really know what Americans want. I know conservatives are thrilled to pieces, and they ought to be. She knocked it out of the park. I don’t think she could have delivered that speech any better. Even if I hadn’t suggested a line, I would say that the speech hit almost every note just right. (Did the Obama fans feel this way? Is this what their exultation feels like? Wonderful. I’m glad they get to experience it too.)

Ben Domenech on fire: Barack Obama vs. Sarah Palin
Barack Obama came to Denver to give a Democrat speech. It may eventually be remembered as the apotheosis of a conventional Democrat speech: the images taken from places he did not live, jobs he did not work, wars he did not fight in, to connect with the broadest possible audience of people. It could have been given, nearly all of it, by John Edwards, man of the milltown – before he ceased to exist – or by Hillary Clinton, the original blue collar warrior from Chicago. It was a speech for Democrats, and delivered to Democrats – and hence the lack of the true outline that makes for powerful remarks. Like the State of the Union speeches given by the eloquent yet fickle President Clinton, it is assumed that this laundry list, a litany of campaign promises that merge together into a mushy feeling of warmth and contentment, would be met with glorious clamor, as if proceeding from the mouth of a god. And they were.
Sarah Palin did not come to speak as a god. Her words proceed not from the bowels of Olympus, but the heart of the enduring American spirit – the driving force that calls out from the rough frontier for young men and women to go West, and ever West. It asserts the worth of the seekers, the pioneers, and all those who are ever unsatisfied with the limits of the status quo – that things are as they ever will be, and you should accept it, and move on. She speaks to those who heed the call to carve out a spot of land and make it your own, to build a good home, to raise a good family, and to be ready, should they ever call for you, to defend the freedoms that made all this possible – to defend them with your all. This is an ordinary action – but in the course of doing it, it can become extraordinary.
What Sarah Palin said tonight matters. She asks you not to vote for her because of what she claims to be, but because of what she is – because of the principles that undergird her, that motivate her, that made her challenge the old guard in her own party and the bureaucrats in others – and now, to take on the self-proclaimed Arbiter of Change. What she said tonight shows that underneath her pleasant exterior and her mother’s smile is a sharp, talented executive – one who knows how to throw a punch, and how to make change a reality, not a promise. She is tough – she is a fighter – and she is not about to blink.

The MSM can explain themselves or destroy her now. This was a remarkable moment of political theater. And the MSM credibility evaporated somewhere between the Ebay joke and the discussion of the pipeline in the Caucasus.

Gee, the media is getting a little nervous that maybe they overplayed their hand. Gregory just implied that because of the controversy millions of people probably watched this speech who might not have before the attacks.

Seriously, who in their right mind could ever confuse Bush and McCain?
Desperate men in desperate times, my friend.
After helping “celebrate” the DNC Convention last week, the MSNBC team of commentators covering the Republican convention reminds me more of a pack of hyenas picking apart the carcass of a zebra. This is not news coverage; this is propaganda in action.
Tonight’s crew of pundits was led by Keith Olbermann in New York, who, as a partisan commentator, needs no introduction. He was joined in St Paul by Chris Matthews (who melts at the sight of Barack Obama), Eugene Robinson, the Washington Post leftie, who is on Olbermann’s show almost every night, Rachel Maddow of Air America, Nora O’Donnell, who has made it crystal clear that she thinks Sarah Palin’s selection was a mistake, David Gregory, Andrea Mitchell, Chuck Todd, and, oh yes, Pat Buchanan, the token conservative (sometimes).
With the exception of Buchanan, the slant on the reporting of this convention is pretty unanimous: The Republicans suck. McCain sucks, and Sarah Palin has a pregnant 17-year-old daughter.
Some analysis!
Tonight, Chuck Todd pointed out that Palin had sold a private jet on E-bay, the implication being that this woman is out of touch with ordinary Americans, who can’t afford a private jet. Just one catch: The jet belonged to the state of Alaska and was sold to cut down on state expenses.
In addition, Olbermann immediately followed up on Mike Huckabee’s speech by jumping on two factual errors Huckabee made dealing with American history. Good job, Keith!
Matthews, for his part, struck out against those critics of the MSM coverage, pointing out that they (the media) were “doing their job” in pointing out the stories about Palin. (”We have a job to do.”) Yes, Chris, it was the media’s job to jump on the Daily Kos rumor about the Governor not being the real mother of the baby born in April. It was the media’s job to make a big deal out of the news that her daughter was going to have a baby out of wedlock.
Then Matthews informed us that Palin’s speech tonight (which supposedly attacks the “boys club” in politics) was being written by some guy he described as a member of the “boys club”. Chris, you are supposed to be an anchor. You could have let Robinson or Maddow mention that.
Robinson, who usually likes to write about racial victim hood issues, pointed out that the Republicans are “playing against the media”. Why shouldn’t they? Media bias is a fact, and it is nowhere better illustrated than at MSNBC.
Most importantly, the reaction to Palin’s speech:
Olbermann immediately commented that it was a great speech, but as to content….then went on to quote some Lincoln-era quote-implication: Her speech was devoid of content. He later went on to bemoan the “condescension” shown to Obama, Biden and the Democrats. This from the lead anchor of the convention coverage.
Matthews, the co-anchor, made a curious reference to Palin being a torpedo aimed at Barack and Michelle Obama on “cultural terms”. Curious indeed, but Matthews has been making curious comments with increasing regularity lately.
Eugene Robinson described it as “two speeches”. He liked the personal part but dismissed the other half as “canned-written by a McCain speechwriter”.
Rachel Maddow described Palin’s speech as “Sarcasm, mockery, insults, nasty sniping, and belittling” (toward Barack Obama). She should know.
White House press gadfly David Gregory described it a strong presentation that was well received (faint praise).
Buchanan: “Sensational”. That was about the only word he got out before they cut away to someone else, and Pat disappeared.
Then NBC News Anchor, Brian Williams came on and read a blog entry from “anonymous” author, Joe Klein, who blistered Palin for her policies in Alaska. (Klein is the stand-up guy who wrote the book, Primary Colors, by “anonymous”, denied being the author then admitted it. So much for his credibility.)
So MSNBC has a two-fold mission, as they see it: First, to defend themselves against criticism being directed toward the media for being biased and trying to tear down Sarah Palin; second, to tear down Sarah Palin.
None of the above is to deny news commentators the right to offer criticism of the convention, the Republicans, McCain or Palin. However, it would be nice to see some measure of balance among the commentators. In addition, how can MSNBC justify having two blatant partisans (Olbermann and Matthews) acting as anchors? Olbermann, for his part, detests Republicans, yet, here he is leading the coverage of the RNC Convention.
In my own view, Palin gave a fine speech. She has poise and charisma, and the convention has received her enthusiastically-contrary to what the press would have us believe. She has a tough road ahead, and, unfortunately, the attacks on her are just starting. Just wait till Keith and his pack of hyenas get back to “Countdown.”

All speeches are done with the help of a speech writer why do they have to point it out ONLY in her case.
Is it because she is a woman?…can anyone help me.
GOP has leveled the playing field tonight. Let the fight begin.
“Sorry for this, but on a more personal note, they were all white people. No diversity whatsoever in that audience, so much for “unity”. But once again that’s a personal qualm.”
I guess you blinked a lot John. I actually remarked to my wife that there seems to be a lot of different flavors on the floor. Anyway, the Dems are pretty white bread themselves…and have you forgotten, W has appointed more “diversity” in his admin than any other Dem regime.
The emphasis Obama and his supporters put on Palin’s speech being written by a Bush speechwriter is ridiculous and desperate. Oh, yeah – typical, too. It also boils down to a simple admission – “Sarah Palin scares us.” And why shouldn’t she? Joe Biden would be wise to be on guard for their debate. Palin can obviously dish it out.
THOUGHTS ON SARAH PALIN’S RNC SPEECH – In a word, nauseating. Gov. Sarah Palin, who we are being led to believe is a ‘conservative’s conservative,’ had the opportunity to outline her policies in a clear and coherent fashion. She had the opportunity to share her vision of America, and how starkly it contrasts to the socialist vision of Barack Obama. Instead, we got sarcasm, whining, and just plain old nastiness. The partisan hacks in attendance ate it up with a spoon, of course; but I can’t help but feel that 75% of America was watching and thinking ‘this is Dick Cheney in a skirt,’ only nowhere near as shrewd. We got the tired neo-con lines about terrorism, Islam, protecting poor little ole’ Israel, so on and so forth. Absent a 9-11 type disaster sometime in the next 63 days (always a possibility, I suppose), that is not going to sell in the year 2008. Not a chance, as most Americans have woken up to the GOP fear mongering, which is why Obama’s pie-in-the-sky rhetoric of ‘change’ and ‘hope’ is working as well as it is with the still-quite-ignorant masses.
Very little was said by Mrs. Palin about our flat-lining economy, only the standard GOP line about cutting taxes. Worse, however, were the unfunny and grossly excessive one-liners, solely focused on Obama’s lack of executive experience and the fact he will raise taxes. First off, Barracuda, you are running for vice president, not performing stand-up at a comedy club. Secondly, and more importantly, she failed to truly present just how dangerous Obama and his ideology really is for America. Par for the course for the entire McCain Campaign to date; they won’t dare touch the really juicy stuff, such as Obama’s communist and terrorist connections, or his sordid affair with the homosexual Larry Sinclair. If Sarah Palin really wanted to jab Obama, she would have called Obama out, in front of millions, for what he really is … a Marxist! Mrs. Palin, to her credit, has been a very strong pro-life voice. Yet, did we hear the word ‘abortion’ mentioned even once in her spiel? She had the opportunity, in front of the whole world, to bring attention to Obama’s enthusiastic – and documented – support for the cruel practice of partial-birth abortion, otherwise known as infanticide. No, instead we got lame jokes about him being a ‘community organizer.’ Yeah, you really came out swinging, Governor. Finally, the whining about the media was just plain pathetic. However bad the MSM is, it’s not their fault that Mrs. Palin’s 17 year-old daughter was stupid enough to get herself knocked up.
I was prepared to perhaps put aside my eternal cynicism and give you a chance, Sarah Palin. Although skeptical, I thought maybe – just maybe – a true American and true Christian had somehow managed to sneak herself onto the top of a major party ticket. On the surface, Palin’s record looked pretty damn good. What’s beneath the surface, however, is truly scary. One of only two conclusions can be drawn: Either Gov. Palin is a typical politician knowingly masquerading as a ‘maverick’ (like McCain himself) and laughing all the way to the bank; or, she is an ignorant, airhead dupe who is being used by McCain and the GOP in the most disgusting way possible. Either way, I feel a deep sense of sorrow for the Palin children – even the stupid one who got knocked up by her loser boyfriend – much in the same way as I do for Obama’s little girls. The one thing I could always respect about George W. Bush, if nothing else, was that he refused to use his young daughters (now grown) to grab votes. Perhaps the same can be said for McCain today, as we never see much of anything about his children. Palin and Obama, on the other hand, only seem too happy to parade their families before the camera. Palin is actually showing herself to be worse than Obama in this regard, if that’s possible, but that may be only because Obama’s girls are too young to get pregnant, and were fortunate to be born healthy. Perhaps, Mrs. Palin, if you really have conservative family values, you should quit the campaign trail, resign the Governorship, and stay at home and be a mother to your infant, special needs son. Sarah Palin is so typical of women these days: They want their cake and want to eat it, too.
All of this has only served to cement my conclusion that McCain is the designated loser, and thus is throwing the election. The fix is in, Obama will be president, and the country will go to hell once and for all. Sarah Palin will go back to Alaska, and the dopey people up there will think of her as some sort of folk hero for trying to stand up to the big bad wolf (Obama), when in reality she played a great role in handing him the presidency on a silver platter! McCain himself, like his friend John Kerry before him, will spend the rest of his days in the Senate, fat, rich, and happy while the country crumbles. The cycle of deception and death goes on and on. I hate to sound like Michelle Obama, but on this evening I am most definitely NOT proud of my country! At least not the shell of a country it has become.
Merriam-Webster definition of ‘Barracuda’: One that uses aggressive, selfish, and sometimes unethical methods to obtain a goal especially in business.
Oh, not again Sunking. I’ve found this same cut-and-paste talking points message from you yet again on at least 5 sites.
Can you at least be original and try to think for yourself.
Well Carol, you make several assumptions with no supporting facts to back it up. You obviously don’t know who wrote the speech since you could not EVEN identify the writers gender. Several speechwriters have written speeches for both parties. This is a great illustration of media tactics to spin the outcome their direction. Good assist there, Carol.
Bush is not running, so everytime you bring up his name, it shows the bias in trying to tie these candidates to him. If one cannot attack the candidate, redirect the attention somewhere else. The media loves this approach.
On pointing out that you saw no diversity, there were several people there of different ethnic backgrounds. I don’t know how many because I don’t count them nor do I judge people on the basis of having a different skin color. Second, only a racist would sit there and count “white” people to see if there were too many. Third, Palin did not choose the people in attendance.
In addition, you seem bitter over the fact that the democratic party lost the election twice. One cannot follow simple directions on filling out a ballot properly so the country should just accept it that the other guy won. Give me a break. This year showed again the ineptness of the democratic party when again Florida voters could not participate in the primary process. And while on the subject, it is the democratic party with the super delegates that is designed to control the outcome of the primary so that voters matter much less as to who the nominee is.
Lastly, Palin is not running as a hockey mom, but as a governor of our largest state with resources like no other state. She was letting the country know who she was as a person and as a leader and what her core values were, Family, Country, Service, and faith. That’s my take anyway.
Nice to see so many people lap up this ridiculous elephant party drivel. Do you ever open your eyes to reality and truth or just mindlessly accept the garbage spewed your way. I can only hope enough people in this country are smart enough this time around to know the difference between right/wrong, good/evil and truth/lies or it’s four more years of embarrassment for the USA to follow up the eight screwy years of bushies.
All I can say is WOW!!!! Sarah Palin is the Real Thing. The real thing!!! I have waited for something like this ticket, all my life. This is the one.
I think the GEEZZERS are Scared
For the first time I am voting Republican, and am going to stay that way.
