Newest Nutroots Palin Conspiracy: Alaska Independence Party
Well, it is several rungs up the ladder from their normal cesspool. Still insane, though
As detailed here and here, questions are arising as to whether McCain’s candidate for vice-president was a member of or was in any way associated with the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP). The AIP is a political party whose aim, among other things, is to receive a vote on the secession of Alaska from the United States of America. (snip)
Was McCain’s VP pick truly a “member of the AIP,” as the video claims? It could simply be a fringe organization trying to take credit for an electoral success. But if it isn’t, and McCain’s VP pick was ever a member of such a radical political party, then that is something that voters deserve to know.
“You know, we’re just wondering.”
Nutbags.

Sarah Palin was a member which has been confirmed. John McCain obviously hates an America that has 50 states.
ABC News just confirmed. Country first?
pwned…lolz
So she didn’t even want her state to be a part of the USA, but now she wants to be VP of the USA? Laughable. This woman needs to go.
btw, it has just been confirmed, so you can pack the “nutbags” and “insane” part.
Wow. Imagine if this had been Michelle Obama.
the sexist attacks have just started esp funny since rev wright sure isn’t happy about being an american
People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
Site your source. Site your SOURCE

You Kos Kidz are so out there, so out of touch it’s pathetic.
Sarah Palin really really scares you doesn’t she?
But, whatever you do, keep talking because now the whole country is watching. Now anyone, including Newsweek and the NBC talking head that blogs there…and ANY POLITICIAN that even comes close to talking to you will be considered an “untouchable”.
There goes your control in the next administration. Even B. Hussein Obama wouldn’t touch you now with a ten foot pole….
But…keep talking. We are watching.
*Jake Tapper’s blog is your source?
sigh….get real.
“somebody said that a friend of their first cousin once saw a friend of Sarah’s that thought he heard her say she was for Alaska to secede.”
WOW….with “sources” like that who needs facts?
Lol, you’re so eager to prove she’s a saint that you’ll deny direct confirmation. That’s pretty darned funny. Let me also guess: in your world, she doesn’t want creationism taught in science class, doesn’t want to legalize the hunting of belugas, or the hunting of black bear sows and cubs, or wolves from the air, isn’t opposing putting polar bears on the endangered species list, and didn’t take money from the same convicted VECO exec as Stevens, and wasn’t Stevens PAC chair, and wasn’t a huge advocate of earmarks, and didn’t use to be a huge backer of the Bridge to Nowhere, and didn’t keep the bridge money after it became a political hot potato and she changed sides on it, and her chief of staff wasn’t recorded trying to get her ex-brother in law fired, and didn’t fire two people for opposing her mayoral run back in Wasilla, and on and on down the list.
No, she’s just a nice, happy hockey mom who’s in line with mainstream American values. Right?
Face it: she and her husband were part of a party that wants the US to have 49 states, has as a founding principle “Alaska First”, has resolutions calling for the dissolution of the federal government if they try to pass stricter gun control laws, calls for its members to infiltrate other political parties to enact the party’s goals, and on and on down the list. It’s about as much of a crazy radical fringe party as you can get, and face it, your golden girl and her husband were members, attended at least one of its conventions, are spoken of highly by its leaders, and only joined the Republican party as she was advancing through the ranks.
The sources are leaders and activists of the Alaskan Independence Party…J.R. Meyers, Lynette Clark, Bob Bird, and Dexter Clark. Both Sarah Palin and her husband were members from 1994 until 1996. When she decided to run for city council, she switched to “Republican” and her husband switched to “independent.”
So the couch potatoes find a golden nugget? This will not change one vote. I’m glad people are searching for something better, the adults go conservative, the libs go crazy. Obama campaigns for Sharia Law in Kenya and it is swept under the rug. If he thinks that better then let him go for it. No one is perfect, some just do not learn.
AIP, which I’ve never been a member of, is about as close to actually sedition as is a sam’s club membership. They basically argue an obscure point of law that state residents did not have a proper plebiscite and should have a chance to a vote which included all options. Statehood, Independence, remain territory, Commonwealth status (hell there’s probably more).
No one up here is the least concerned if she had some very vague and distant connect to AIP through some libertarian party associations. Some of you Southerners need to get out of the hot sun more often.
This AIM affiliation is going to make Trinity United look like Romper Room. John McCain is about to become George McGovern redux.
PS On Alaska ballots the AIP, Libertarian Party and the Green Party are all recognized right along with the Dems and Republicans. Some Republicans also work with the libs, some of them even work with the AIP. I don’t know anyone loony enough to work with the greens though.
The governor of Alaska in 1994 was an AIP member. He was elected as an AIP member. They don’t want to secede.
It was more a property rights government get off your back party. Sort of like Ron Paul.
She had never been in politics before.
REI……..”her chief of staff wasn’t recorded trying to get her ex-brother in law fired”
You do realize that this ex brother in law was drinking on the job [he's a cop] and was hunting illegally, and used a tazer on his 10 year old stepson…right? And the commish she fired she fired because he wouldn’t fire the dirty cop. It doesn’t make a bit of difference that the cop was her brother in law. That falls in the color of hair category. She did what was right.
I realize that politics makes strange bedfellows but really, you are stretching it a bit don’t you think?
If I were to use your line of reasoning then I would have to say that *you* must be FOR cops drinking on the job, hunting illegally and tazing ten year old boys.
Is that right?
I’m pretty sure that isn’t how you feel.
Do I agree with her on the hunting issues?
No I don’t. But then I think she is a very decent strong woman and has a lot to offer.Creationism doesn’t worry me as long as they teach it along with evolution. More info is hardly a hanging offense…as long as it’s true.
Why are you so scared?
At least she wasn’t friends with a terrorist that bombed the Pentagon like Obama. Lets talk about that.
Think this is all ancient history?
You can see a video of Palin welcoming the 2008 convention AIP here:
http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/09/the_alaska_independence_party.php
Exactly what is the purpose of the AIP other than a vote on secession of Alaska?
All the little moonbats here are truly frightened by Palin. I find that terribly amusing.
What’s the problem people?
And here you are trying to find anything, any dirt you can scrape up but all it’s doing is galvanizing the republican base AND pointing out to average not very political [usually] Americans that the democratic party has been taken over completely [pod person style] by socialists that are violent and vile and really do despise America…and them
Keep it up…you are doing our work for us.
But I’ll laugh all the way to the voting booth…thanks.
OH.MY GOD….you are quoting *The Atlantic*?
What next? Little andi sullivan?
Good grief!
I suppose you think Geraldo is an actual journalist too, huh?
Read your source: “several members say”
Several people say that 9-11 was an inside job, they all drink the same kool-aid.
in 1994, this group had their convention in Palin’s town of 8000 people. And the Palin’s went to the convention — gee, there are lots of things to do in a town of 8000.
Plus, this Alaskan Independence Party does not promote violence, they seek to peacefully and legally allow the Alaskans to vote on leaving the union. AIP does not use terrorism to promote its agenda.
So let me get this straight. Being a member of a subversive group is fine. Being on a board with a person who was a former member of a subversive group is unamerican?
Or wait is it being a member of a multi ethnic church where the pastor is a real war hero (marine who served two combat tours in vietnam and saved the life of lbj) that is the issue.
I see your point. lol
Liarbuster:
The word you are seeking to use is “cite,” not “site.” Credibility suffers when ignorance flourishes.
From the AIP Website:
The Alaskan Independence Party’s goal is the vote we were entitled to in 1958, one choice from among the following four alternatives:
1) Remain a Territory.
2) Become a separate and Independent Nation.
3) Accept Commonwealth status.
4) Become a State.
The call for this vote is in furtherance of the dream of the Alaskan Independence Party’s founding father, Joe Vogler, which was for Alaskans to achieve independence under a minimal government, fully responsive to the people, promoting a peaceful and lawful means of resolving differences.
