Bristol Palin Pregnancy Conspiracy Smear Totally Debunked

Posted on September 1, 2008

Update: Totally debunked. Bristol is pregnant now and chooses life!

A picture worth a thousand words. So the original conspiracy in a nutshell is that Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy with Trig, her Down Syndrome baby, to cover-up her teenage daughter’s pregnancy. How many ways can we say debunked?

Heartache at Daily Kos!

Personally, I don’t give a trig. On the one hand, if Sarah is the mother, her story shows that she does not possess the requisite sober judgment to inhabit the Oval Office, as she put both herself and her child at grave risk in flying back to Anchorage after her water broke (yes, even partially) and contractions started, as (1) the risk of infection is quite grave, and (2) the risk of her giving birth on the flight is substantial. Try delivering a baby in the middle of in-flight turbulence, three hundred miles from the nearest airport of substance.

On the other hand, if Bristol was the mother of Trig, it could turn out to be an enormous political opportunity — but only if Palin comes clean, and now. Imagine her giving a modern-day “Checkers” speech, and asking the audience whether she should step down from the position. Want to bet on how that would turn out?

  3. changer1701 on September 1st, 2008 12:18 pm

    Robin Hood,

The “she endangered her baby, therefore she is unfit for office” meme is absurd. She was in the 8th month of the pregnancy and amniotic fluid started leaking…she talked with her doctor, and there was obviously no other indication that she was in labor BECAUSE THEY HAD TO INDUCE IT THAT MORNING.

You idiots ought to be ashamed of yourself…

Bristol Palin is pregnant and apparently the McCain campaign knew about it when Palin was selected.

Sarah Palin allows her children to engage in premarital sex. I’m disgusted by her mockery of Christian values.

  6. john Kuehne on September 1st, 2008 12:53 pm

Lucky Palin isn’t FLDS! Had she been, Texas Child Protective Services would have flow up to Alaska and seized all her children.

Seriously, the problem here is that when Palin’s teenage unmarried daughter has sex, it’s okay: they’re Conservatives (TM). But when this happens to an evil Liberal family, it’s yet another example of the demise of America.

I would expect this from Lynn Spears, (jamie Lynn, Britney’s mother) but for a conservative VP candidate?

It is not debunked at all. Palin could be lying about the 5months .. in 4 months if the baby isn’t born yet, the election will be over.

Bristol doesn’t look 5 months pregnant to me.

Palin is lying to buy time . Bristol doesn’t look 5 months pregnant. In 4 months the election will be over, she is just buying time

  9. and so it goes on September 1st, 2008 1:45 pm

Robin Hood: No Doctor would say it’s ok to fly from Dallas to Alaska after your water broke! NONE.

A 5th child comes too fast, usually AND this one was already at risk.

    Her story makes no sense.

To most of the folks above:

Thanks for sharing your collective insanity with me…it’s simply breathtaking.

You folks are sick and need psychological counseling. How do I know this? Because your own words betray the fact that you’re convinced you’re sane, but everyone else is engaged in a conspiracy…and you’re the only ones who are on to it.

Wake up and smell the cooperative-grown, peasant-picked coffee: you’re utterly unimportant, and the only thing that gives meaning and enrichment to your lives is projecting your paranoid fantasies onto other, better-adjusted people. Do yourselves, and the rest of us, a big fat favor by staying away from sharp objects, okay?

They proved the “Bristol had an illegitimate baby in April” myth false by pointing out that she’s pregnant with an illegitimate baby now! Way to go!

Nice, McCain. What kind of soldier uses a pregnant 17-year-old girl as a political shield? You knew what this was going to do, how it would divert attention away from your policies. You are throwing her under the bus.

Abstinance does not work, and these people are hypocrits and liars.

  18. Willem on September 1st, 2008 4:32 pm

    What’s the big deal?

It only shows that Bristol (17) and Obama’s mother (18) both had sex when they were young and choose to have the babies rather than abort.

    Criticize all you want……BUT
How many of you had sex when you were in your teens?

Stupid kids will always be stupid kids.
    Use condoms you morons!!!!!

  19. Willem on September 1st, 2008 4:41 pm

Abstinence programs are only there to make parents feel warm and fuzzy while trying to teach their own children how to live responsible lives.

It should be taught however taken with a grain of salt.

Teenagers will have sex……….. didn’t you?

It only shows how Palin is common among other parents around the world dealing with a teenagers.

  20. No to abstinence only education on September 1st, 2008 4:58 pm

This is exactly the reason sex education in America is horrible.. yet Republicans will not budge on the issue ‘abstinence only’ sex education in our schools. Here is a nice quote from Republican Senator John Ensign.

“While I believe that abstinence education plays an important role in sex education, there is no substitute for parental involvement in our children’s lives, especially as they reach this critical point in their development. It is essential that any school-based sex education program be reinforced through parental involvement and frank discussions regarding proper moral values. As parents, we must arm our children with the facts necessary to make the right decisions.”

Obviously, Mr. and Mrs. Palin didn’t really have a talk with their daughter about “proper moral values.” For gosh sakes people, tell your kids to use a condom! Whether you are republican or democrat, religious or atheist – tell your kids if they are going to have sex to use some type of birth control.

  21. Belial on September 1st, 2008 5:23 pm

So far, this appears to be the genesis of the lie about the 5-month pregnancy of Bristol Palin.

    Reuters today, 9/1/08, says:

“Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin’s five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate.”
    http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSN2944356420080901

So, according to Reuters, the 5-month pregnancy lie originates in what “the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate.”

So, if you’re not a liar like GC, the first thing you do is check out what “the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate.”

Statement from Sarah and Todd Palin

ARLINGTON, VA — Today, Sarah and Todd Palin issued the following statement regarding today’s Reuters story:

“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.

“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”

    http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/News/PressReleases/ab547fc8-d96d-4f87-aa8a-2e52be2b66fc.htm

The “statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate” talks about “five wonderful children” of the Todd and Sarah Palin, but says nothing about 5-month pregnancy of Bristol.

So, Reuters is lying when it reports “”Bristol Palin … is about five months pregnant … the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate.”

Note how Todd and Sarah and the McCain campaign explicitly pimp “today’s Reuters story” without acknowledging or vouching for ” today’s Reuters story” lies about the 5-month pregnancy, left unmentioned by either Bristol or her parents or the McCain campaign, but simply made up out of the blue by “today’s Reuters story.”

Gop whores will jump at the invitation to be misdirected by the mysteriously alleged “5-month pregnancy,” but the real story is already out there.

  22. Ron on September 1st, 2008 5:54 pm

Governor Palin says Levi, the apparent father of Bristol’s baby, is going to marry Bristol.
Noting that Governor Palin is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, I would not bet against it.

  23. Jesse on September 1st, 2008 6:23 pm

Here is my problem with this… I don’t think it is refreshing that Sarah is dealing with a problem faced by other families. Her outspoken moral values should be reflected in her own family. Lead by example… don’t just talk the talk.

As a conservative, I want someone who actually practices what they preach, and whose message is truly effective, and since it was not effective in even her own family, I cannot say she is walking the walk.

My problem is we were all in agreement when Jamie Spears was found to be pregnant, out of wedlock, at 16 (Bristol was 16 I believe then during conception), that this was likely a result of not enough true guidance and parental involvement, along with instilling the proper values which led to her irresponsibility.

Now, because Sarah claims to be a conservative, it is OK and she should be applauded? I just don’t get it my fellow conservatives, this is not examples we want set for our country or children. The example she is teaching and you are all reinforcing is it OK to have sex before marriage and as a young teenager, because “these things happen”.

Wrong… when you follow a moral code and pass those down properly, and stay involved it doesn’t happen. Even liberals in my community, they don’t have the same moral compass as me, but they do know how to set example and keep their kids from making the kind of irresponsible choices like this.

I hold her higher because she claims to be conservative, but the fact she can’t keep her own kitchen clean so to speak tells me she has no authority to lead the rest of us on this issue.

McCain made a terrible mistake, and unfortunately this issue and a couple others are making it very hard to vote for him.

We need leaders who lead by example, not by telling us what we want to hear.

    So frustrating…

  24. Michelle on September 1st, 2008 6:31 pm

Interesting comment from Krissy on here that I must respond to:

“Sarah Palin allows her children to engage in premarital sex. I’m disgusted by her mockery of Christian values.”

Are you for real? As anyone who was a teenager will tell you, most parents don’t condone premarital sex so I’m pretty confident Sarah Palin didn’t “allow” her daughter to engage in it.

As teenagers are want to do…they have sex, usually without their parents knowledge. Get a clue.

  25. Thomas on September 1st, 2008 6:40 pm

Rememeber the hammering that John Edwards received. Why should the Palins be treated differently?

  26. Michelle on September 1st, 2008 6:55 pm

Why should a 17 year-old unmarried girl be treated the same as a MARRIED man when it comes to the “mistreatment” by the media??

She obviously made a mistake, as many, many teenagers have. She is doing the Christian thing and having her baby and raising it with both parents.

John Edwards is a MARRIED man…yes he made a mistake and tried for 2 years to cover it up and mislead the American voters that he was a “good man” He should be totally ashamed of himself, although I agree that there is nothing that the media could do to him that is worse than what he does to himself. Sounds like Bill Clinton when he said that.

Everyone makes mistakes, it’s how you deal with the mistake and change your life is what it is about. God forgives…what about us?

This is a plus. As Mark Steyn points out in his recent best seller, America Alone, if our western civilization is demographically to survive in the increasingly “hostile to the west” islamic world — and not end up like the sinking European populations — these are the precise people (the Bristol Palins’) we should thank for increasing their progeny.

  29. Candy on September 1st, 2008 8:39 pm

I am very proud to see that liberals and conservatives alike have similar feelings about this issue. Unfortunately, feelings usually run along party lines. Sarah seemed awfully busy to me when they said she was hunting, fishing, eating moose burgers, snowmobiling, raising 5 kids and being the governor. As an up and coming conservative leader she should have been home spending a little more time with her family, or at least having moral discussions with her family about what would be expected of them. She is not a conservative leader plain and simple. No question at all about that. Please notice that I am not criticizing Bristol at all. John McCain should not have made the offer, and she should not have accepted. Conservatives cannot set examples and lead by this type of behavior. I cannot vote for her and hope other conservatives, and liberals too, will not vote for her either. She is a hypocrite enabled by John McCain.

  30. Dave on September 1st, 2008 9:03 pm

I cannot believe that people are so ready to blame the decisions / behaviors of a young lady who is almost an adult an obviously capable of making her own decisions – albeit right or wrong on her parent?. I can teach my children every possible thing I want to instill in them and they can CHOOSE to ignore my instruction and do what I tell them not to. In fact, how many of us rebelled against our parents teachings? I don’t care who you are, it is not right to be judged by the lives your children choose to lead or the decisions they choose to make. I would hope that my children would follow my teachings and my moral instruction, but if they do not, they are no less my children and they must be held accountable for their decisions -NOT ME!

  31. Sharon on September 1st, 2008 9:09 pm

I question her priorities. As a mother, I would have rejected the nomination rather than parade my daughter’s dirty laundry in this manner. This “mother” has to ask herself if her ambition is greater than her children’s need for attentive parents. The daughter’s shame is now known worldwide. Besides, what kind of moose killing, backwoods family forces a 17 year-old to marry a 16 year-old boy? I’m sure she wishes now that her daughter had learned birth control in school. Palin is pro-birth, not pro-life, She supports the death penalty, the war, and is against health care. It’s time we understand that Christian doesn’t mean Republican. Sitting in church doesn’t make you a model Christian anymore than sitting in a garage makes you a car. A mother’s first duty is to her children. I would say that a pregnant teen and a baby with Down Syndrome need both parents right now.

  32. ellen on September 1st, 2008 11:39 pm

The liberal scum should be ashamed of themselves for attacking a teenage girl to hide the fact that…… Obama is a communist. And communism doesn’t work. Thanks, bro!

Hoes before bros, silly White people.

  33. Belial on September 1st, 2008 11:45 pm

There is nothing in the Palin statement about 5 months.

Reuters however says the 5 months is in the Palin statement, but Reuters is lying about the statement for some reason.

So, neither the Palins or McCain are on record for the 5 months.

  34. Thomas Horton on September 2nd, 2008 6:07 am

Palin’s family off-limits? Maybe for Barack Obama, but not for me.

Democrats shoot themselves in both feet every time they try to take the high road, because the Republicans never do. For example, if I were Al Gore, I would still be contesting the 2000 election instead of all that “concede and heal” nonsense.

So… I’ll say what nobody else will. If Sarah Palin can’t keep tabs on her own daughter, arming her with abstinence education and Christian piety, how, someone tell me, how, in God’s name, is she supposed to run a country?

If baby Trig, known to have Down Syndrome, came prematurely by a month to a 44-year-old mother, and that mother, Governor Palin, finished a speech and then flew for 12 hours with her water broken only to pass up two hospitals with NICUs only to give birth in some backwater medical clinic, how, in God’s name, are we to trust her to handle a time-is-of-the-essence international crisis?

If son Track can’t be mentioned in public without noting that he enlisted last year, and, coincidentally is headed to Iraq this year on the same date– September 11th– then I’ll be damned if I’ll keep the kids out of it.

Governor Palin is, plainly and simply, whoring her kids out for political purposes. She’s turning Track into a modern doughboy, Bristol into an anti-choice poster child, and using Trig as testament to her pioneer toughness, bragging that she returned to work just three days after birthing him… like that’s something to be proud of.

She’s a disgrace– a political animal of the first order that could only be the creation of ambition, blind fervency, and Karl Rove.

  35. Candy on September 2nd, 2008 9:49 am

Wow, the more I see about Sarah Palin and her family, the less I want them in the leadership of our country with me/us paying all her bills and living with how she wants to run the country. First, I hear there is an investigation into her abuse of her powers in firing a person just because he wouldn’t fire her brother in law, second, I hear her 17 year old unmarried daughter is pregnant, third I hear how she came back to work one day after Track was born and 3 days after Trig with special needs was born, and fourth I hear that her husband has a DUI. Definitely not a regular conservative family. Now, my first thought is what is next?????, then I have to say any conservative talk, rules, and laws do not apply to her, but maybe to everyone else. She plainly is beneath our expectations for a Vice President. I will be sorely upset if conservatives actually vote for this. If they do, I never want to hear anything about anyone else!

  36. Geoff on September 2nd, 2008 2:44 pm

Bristol’s Myspace site had Crown Royal bottles mounted all over the wall. Where were the parents? Did they condone teenage drinking? Family values? I don’t think so.

  37. Sam on September 2nd, 2008 3:32 pm

I thought the story was crazy that Trig was Bristol’s baby and Sarah is pretending to be the mother. So now they are showing that picture of Sarah pregnant to debunk the story and now someone says that is a picture of her pregnant with her older son.
I think it’s weird any other unmarried girl that is pregnant is awful and doesn’t have any morals according to conservatives and now Bristol is pregnant and it’s so great and wonderful.

  38. Candy on September 2nd, 2008 5:22 pm

Oh yea, let’s not forget that Sarah has a citation for fishing without a fishing license. She is SUCH A GOOD CONSERVATIVE. I can’t believe the conservatives are totally overlooking all these things about her. I believe in christian values, and she doesn’t seem to have any except that she rejects abortion in EVERY case. Is that all that is important to the conservatives? I know the answer to that question is YES. That’s how the vote will go and why.
