Beck on Palin and her baby boy

Posted on August 29, 2008

Amen. Of all the atrocities committed in this world, few acts are more evil than killing a child because he is disabled. Tragically, more than 90% of babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome in the UK are murdered in the womb…just because they are disabled. The figure in the US is about 80%.

The distinctions between the two tickets are immense, particularly on the issue of human life and children. The McCains and the Palins are true heroes to children, demonstrated through their deeds. O’Biden can yack all it wants about “the children” and “the poor” while doing nothing but pimping fail-every-time government programs, but both the McCains and the Palins have actually done something for children.

As a parent of a child with special needs I can say that what Glenn and Gov. Palin has said is the absolute truth. Being a parent of a child with special needs is in itself a gift. We find that we have talents far beyond those we ever thought we could have. And these children are the most beautiful souls on this planet.

While Mrs. Gribbit and I were at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati with our new daughter, we came in contact with children with far worse diagnosises than our baby. Children who face cancer, transplants, Downs Syndrome, and worse – yes worse. It humbles you to see these children who fight their fight daily knowing that they may not have long to live. You look at these kids and you realize that your petty problems are insignificant. You see these kids and become critical of your self-pity.

Each and every day, I thank GOD for the gift that he has given us. She is special, not because of her birth defect, but her strength. Mrs. Gribbit and I both agree that our daughter is the strongest human being that we’ve ever met.

Gribbit, I know having had a new baby just over a year ago that the pressures on parents over genetic testing are pretty relentless these days. Given the statistics on the percentage of Down’s kids who are aborted, I admire anyone who decides to take on the responsibility not only for their own special child, but to stem the looming extinction of everyone like them.

Maybe it’s time to dust off that old Al Gore quote about the “extra chromosome right wing”

My daughter has physical issues that would have led many to write her off.

She has been exposed to many kids with developmental issues during her journey and NOBODY gives a hug or is happy to see you like a Down’s kid who likes you !!!

God bless Ms Palin and be with her little one.
