Huge Illegals Bust In Mississippi

Good. And the Feds are not wasting time, either

LAUREL, Miss. — In another large-scale workplace immigration crackdown, federal officials raided a factory here on Monday, detaining at least 350 workers they said were in the country illegally.

Numerous agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement descended on a factory belonging to Howard Industries Inc., which manufactures electrical transformers, among other products.

As of late Monday afternoon, no criminal charges had been filed, said Barbara Gonzalez, an agency spokeswoman, but she said that dozens of workers had been “identified, fingerprinted, interviewed, photographed and processed for removal from the U.S.”

Buh bye! That’s the way to do it. Catch and deport. Of course, you know what is next, right?

An immigrant rights group in Jackson, Miss., the state capital, was critical of Monday’s raid, saying families with children were involved.

“It’s horrific what ICE is doing to these families and these communities,” said Shuya Ohno, a spokesman for the Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance. “It’s just hard to imagine that this is the United States of America.”

It’s just hard to imagine a country founded on Law attempting to uphold The Law. If Ms. Ohno doesn’t like it, there are plenty of other countries in the world to move to. Maybe she would like Venezuala, where the president can rewrite their Constitution at a whim.

Amazingly, the word “illegal” appears once in the whole story.

ICE isn’t breaking up any families. The illegals are responsible for the consequences of their actions. If they had chosen to sell drugs, shoplift or commit insurance fraud, would they have some advocate boo-hoo-ing about the families? They committed a crime for financial gain. They got caught. Now if they prosecute the company (350 of illegals seems to indicate a pattern) and fine the daylights out of it, we might just get somewhere.

trubble is absolutely right. these illegal immigrants are responsible for putting their own families in a situation to be torn apart. ICE isn’t responsible for the actions of these illegals. the key word here is ILLEGAL. when local police raid a crystal meth operation and turn the children over to state custody, we don’t blame the police for breaking up a family, we blame the people engaged in illegal activity.
secondly: i live in hattiesburg, MS, about 40 miles south of laurel. the local economy is struggling through this “recession” just like the rest of the country. good jobs are hard to come by. the big-whigs at howard have cut corners by hiring 350 employees that they don’t have to pay overtime, or even minimum wage in the first place, much less any benefits, then they are hurting the local economy, evading millions in taxes, and giving good excuse for more and more illegals to flood our area. they should be penalized SEVERELY. as of last night, the ICE had still not pressed any charges. if anyone is responsible for breaking up families, it’s these immigrants AND howard industries, NOT the ICE.

I’m agree that the illegals have to be detain but this is not fair for the legal workers.. there are guys who have came with a h2b visa and it hasnt expired. Is this human for them? Is it fair? they are no criminals.. the responsable is Howard industries. these guys are detained since yesterday how many days the officers need to keep them arrested.. many of them couldnt call to their relatives.. come on!!! let the legal workers go

Age old problem here folks. Can’t tell you for absolute that many years past my family entered here from Europe LEGALLY. We need a better plan or did I forget we DID actually stop illegal drugs from entering the US and this silly enforcement program for illegal aliens is actually going to work.

Then again there’s “the wall”. It did however work for China, so maybe there’s hope for us yet.

The US-born workers were CHEERING as the ICE agents removed the illegals! If that doesn’t tell you what the average American thinks of illegal immigration, I don’t know what does. Keep it up, ICE – great job!
