Mr. Carlson was a man who cared for all of his students no matter what their backround. He saw things in people that they never saw in themselves. Everyone who had ever met him will always have a personal story about this great man. Mr. Carlson was a rolemodel, a friend, and one of the greatest teachers that thousands of Maine East students had or will ever have. He will be missed.

Not a word was mentioned about him on Maine East's web site, either. That is why I'm posting this memorial post in a few places. The man had a legendary career in education, and was a real teacher inside and outside the classroom.

I remember Mr. Carlson from student council. He seemed always to be interested in us and our ideas. He was such and kind and gentle man. He was an inspiration to me to be the best that I could be. I also recently saw him in years past at a High School reunion school tour. He will be greatly missed.

He had close friends who were Maine East alumni. My dad was the only one that made it. I'm not talking about Maine East alumni in large numbers - although the service was broadcast in the newspaper; it was not a private service....and if you notice at the end of the post I mention that there will be a memorial service.

The only service that has occurred so far for Paul Carlson was a private one for his immediate family and very close friends. Maine East alumni in large numbers would not have belonged there.
The public memorial service is Sunday, September 7 at 3pm.
