Attacking Cindy McCain’s charitable work in the Third World. Is this the best the Left can do?
HuffPo: The Anatomy of a Deception
So, Cindy McCain founds an organization that runs 55 aid missions to the world’s poorest countries, actually GOES on some of the missions and works, actually walks the walk by saving the lives of infants…and, oh yeah, ADOPTING one…and these people want to attack her on that? The other baby she brought back? Read on.
Not surprising. See, the people who populate the ranks of the Left do very little work on behalf of the needy and give very little to charity. Instead, they insist that they really care for the poor because they demand the unlimited expansion of government at the (coerced) expense of others. The author seems to think that savaging someone for the work they’ve actually done is the same as calling someone evil for not supporting a trillion-dollar government spending boondoggle.
The charge leveled in the HuffPo post? That instead of actually being urged by Mother Teresa herself to take the dying children from the orphanage in Bangladesh, Cindy McCain actually “only” saved the children from one of Mother Teresa’s orphanages. The author is “outraged” that an earlier version of Mrs. McCain’s bio implies that Mother Teresa herself asked that Mrs. McCain take the dying babies. That version was updated. Did this guy ever consider that maybe the person who updated the bio in the first place may just have gotten that detail wrong? Happens all the time. What possible motive would there have been for Cindy McCain to want to embellish this particular story anyway? Doesn’t add up, HuffPo dude.
Funny thing is, the author of that post hasn’t provided one source that has Cindy McCain herself making the claim. The one source where she is supposedly quoted implying that Mother Teresa encouraged the adoptions isn’t linked and cannot be found on the alleged source’s website. Even if the original source does turn up, does that mean she was quoted accurately?
Let’s compare Cindy McCain’s biography to that of the author of that ridiculous post, shall we? If someone who supports military action without ever having served himself is called a “chickenhawk,” what do you call someone who slams someone else’s lifetime of charitable work but doesn’t seem to have done much himself?
Does this guy really think it is an effective tactic for the Left to start talking about what a selfless humanitarian the quiet and unassuming wife of the GOP nominee is…especially as compared to the shrill, self-important, condescending Michelle Obama, who has apparently done very little non-government-subsidized work that even resembles charity(but would love for her husband to take a Hoover to OUR bank accounts)?

John McCain told the story–at the Saddleback forum.
Yes, and this is what he said:
“Seventeen years ago Cindy was in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She went to Mother Teresa’s orphanage. The nuns brought her two little babies who were not going to live. Cindy came home. I met her at the airplane. She showed me this 5-week-old baby and said, “Meet your new daughter.” She’s 17, and our life is blessed – and that’s what adoption is all about.”
I’m not sure if you pointed this out in an attempt to endorse Mr. Nickolas’ attack, but if you did, you’ve only demonstrated that you don’t get the point of the discussion.
The truth about the Beer-distributing, Pill-popping, Desert- Lizard Cindy McCain
In 1989, Cindy McCain became addicted to Percocet and Vicodin, opioid painkillers,] which she initially took to alleviate pain following two spinal surgeries for ruptured discs, and to ease emotional stress during the Keating Five affair. The addiction progressed to where she was taking upwards of twenty pills a day. In January 1993, an American Voluntary Medical Team ( AVMT) employee, who had discovered her illegal drug use, was terminated on budgetary grounds.
And you want her to be Our First Lady- O HElllll NO!
Oh, so we want to savage a woman who had addiction issues many years ago? Classy stuff WC, classy. All that name-calling really adds to your credibility, too.
