I don’t know the answer about Prof Spellberg. Personally, I am uncomfortable with the term, “self-hating Jew”. It is a term I have heard Jewish people use. Not being Jewish myself, it is a term I leave for Jews to use as they see fit.

As for me, my concern is the issue of anti-Semitism that I hear expressed by certain Muslims, such as the Muslim Student Unions at many universities, including where I teach at UC -Irvine. It is a problem that must be confronted.

I don t want to get too deeply into suppositions here…ah heck, who am I kidding, I do too. I have had some things in my head since I first read this and have been wondering;

Is “Spellberg” a jewish name? Could Spellberg be one of those self hating jews who stand against Israel and for the Palestinians?

And now with the revelations that Spellberg called her writings about a nine year old being rape by a murderous old caravan raider “sacred” one is forced to wonder what deep and twisted fantasies Spellberg may be harboring in that Freedom-Hating Child-Rapist loving heart of hers.
