NC Loves Dem Illegals In School
Say, where is the NC ACLU hiding? Shouldn’t they be out there protecting the rights of North Carolina citizens when it comes to being able to not be bumped from community college in order to pander to illegal aliens? Double shot from the Raleigh News and Observer
North Carolina community colleges will likely return to admitting illegal immigrants while the state board that oversees the colleges studies a permanent policy.
Members of the State Board of Community Colleges, who met this afternoon, said they are not ready to decide whether to allow education for illegal immigrants at the state’s 58 community college campuses. A board committee voted to hire a consultant to further study the issue. The full board is expected to approve hiring the consultant on Friday.
The study would take several months and, in the meantime, Community College System officials say they would have to adhere to their current policy, which is to admit all students with a high school diploma.
I would love to say that was a joke, but, not so! These bastions of higher education fail to comprehend what the word “illegal” means, so, they are actually going to pay a consultant, rather then going “gee. These folks came to this country illegally. They are neither US nor North Carolina citizens. They have no right to an education. We’re sorry they brought their kids with them, but, their kids are in violation of the law, and they are all welcome to go back to where they came from, and get an education there.”
NC Community College is supposed to be for NC residents. The board is discussing charging them out of state tuition, but, still, it will cost the taxpayers money to get a college education for a person who is not legally entitled to work in this country.
But, good for Sue Myrick!
Days before a state board is scheduled to take up the issue, U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick announced a bill that would remove federal funding from colleges and universities that knowingly admit illegal immigrants.
Myrick, a Charlotte Republican who has made immigration a core component of her re-election campaign, said Wednesday that she would introduce her bill in September, when Congress reconvenes.
Any other Republicans and Democrats care to step up to the plate for enforcing the law?

I agree with the general point of your article that the policy to allow Illegals to use tax payer resources is moonbat pandering.
And in the context of a (deeply) flawed policy from the US National govt, I can agree that this is upsetting.
But in the spirit of “Keeping America Great” we *want* to have immigrants come here, get degrees, get jobs and generally contribute their energy and effort to the US.
If we could truly secure the border (which must be priority 1) then I would be for an “under 18 yo amnesty” in which case these kids could go to school (getting close to 40, so 18 year olds are kids).
We have to change our entrance criteria for our country as well. I would love it if we just had people take the SAT (*IN ENGLISH*). If you get above a certain score…boom, you are in.
We *want* to poach the best and the brightest from the world and make them into Americans.
That is how we win.
When both the pro-capitalism business wing of the Republican Party and the pro-immigration (and vote-driven) wing of the Democratic Party tacitly support (you can’t come right out and say it, of course) illegal immigration from Mexico….they ain’t no way to stop it.
Which is what has been happening for 20 years.
Now the kids of those 20 million illegal Mexicans that were born in the US, and are citizens, are coming of age. Old enough to go to college….and vote.
The illegals have won. The battle, and war, is over.
Karl Rove knew this and tried to make the GOP more Latino-friendly but the populist backlash against the Mexicans has placed them firmly in the Democratic Party’s camp for the next generation.
All this talk of building border fences is nonsense. Countless billions of dollars have been spent to stop a relative handfew from bringing cocaine and heroine into the US, with scant success.
No amount of money will stop Mexicans and other Central Americans from coming to the US if they can make money here.
Imagine if Americans could earn $500 per hour working illegally cutting the lawns of Canadians, working construction in Ottawa, or becoming housekeepers for the well-to-do in Montreal. Could the Canadians ever stop Americans from illegally coming into the Great White North? Not a chance.
Capitalism’s “invisible hand”, as Adam Smith called it, will win out over border fences any day.
One last afterthought on illegal immigration.
The US isn’t alone in illegal immigrants coming in to work cheap, unskilled labor jobs.
Almost every rich democracy on earth has their own “illegal” problem, from the US to Sweden to Germany to Italy to even China (those darn North Koreans coming across the Yalu into North Korea will work for nothing!).
But almost alone, the US is far better (OK, Canada is good too) at assimilating newcomers to this country.
But in the spirit of “Keeping America Great” we *want* to have immigrants come here, get degrees, get jobs and generally contribute their energy and effort to the US.
One question which nobody seems to want to answer is “For how long?”
By 2050 we’re expected to have half a billion people in this country. So, when do we have enough people- at half a billion? 750 million? Or should we just go for a cool billion like China and India?
At some point, immigration is going to have to be shut down somehow. I don’t want China’s overpopulation problem (just imagine trying to enforce the one-child per couple law in the United States).
I think that we could handle up to 1B in this country. And we have an economy that is fueled by “new blood”. We need to have new people coming in all the time to keep us strong and growing.
Our issue is going to be assimilation not overpopulation. We need to loudly and proudly insist on people accepting our core values (self-reliance, pluralism, secular govt, freedom of speech and religion, equal right, economic freedom etc.).
So I think that we will stop taking in people when we stop *needing* to take in people. I suspect that number is somewhere around 500M. But that is a wild *ssed guess.
Around the time of World War One, the US had about 100 million people (or twice the population of Great Britain, the “mother country”) and there was great concern in some circles that the US was overpopulated, that there weren’t enough natural resources or housing, etc to handle this huge amount of people. Some of these voices were motivated more out of opposition to the hordes of southern and eastern Europeans (aka “Catholics” and “Jews”, perhaps the real reason for opposition to immigration) that had flooded the US in the first 2 decades of the 20th century. They pointed to worst slums of New York, Chicago, Boston, etc as examples of the perils of having too many people.
By the time of WW2, the US had 150 million (now almost three times the population of Great Britain) and those voices again spoke out re: overpopulation.
The came baby boom, renewed immigration from eastern Europe (fleeing from communism) and rising numbers coming south over the Rio Grande. By 1970 the US had 200 million (now nearly 4 times the population of Great Britain). Again, voices opposing overpopulation could be heard. How can feed all these people? How can we house all these people?
Fast forward to 2000, and the US had 300 million people (now about 5 times the population of Great Britain). Was there mass starvation? Homelessness? Overcrowded urban slums speading disease? Worse crime than ever?
The answer to all those questions is “no”.
Every generation of Americans has those (usually those whose ancestors have been in the US for 2 generations or more) who feel that the US is “full” and needs no more immigrants.
I say that, partially due to the declining birthrates of native-born Americans (of all races, religions and ethnicities) & the ever-expanding life expectancy figures, that immigration is as important to America’s future as ever before.
Look at Europe & Japan, who’ve kept a tighter lid on immigration that the US. They are rapidly aging societies with a lack of workers to replace those who want to enjoy their golden years with ample retirement benefits paid for by the welfare state.
Compare America’s population growth over the last century with Great Britain’s. Imagine how much more powerful and even rich the British would be today with a populace of 120 million instead of 60 million! They’d run Europe!
If the US continues to grow at past rates, then we’ll have 450 million or so citizens by 2050.
I, for one, think we can easily handle this increase.
I completely agree Bulger. And your historical argument is a much better presentation then my “because I say so” argument.
