It's a shame that an entire group of people can be so proud of being hypocrites. During the 2000 and 2004 elections, and even during his terms, all we heard about was George W. Bush's past. Remember when the story broke that he got a DUI? It was like there wasn't any other news that day.

Now, when we get a Democrat with a past not to be proud of, the media is completely silent. I don't think David Freddoso is really interested in smear tactics; I think he's interested in a candidates past, just like we all were back in 2000 and 2004.

Failed oil man = big news story! Relationship will Bill Ayers = right wing nut job conspiracy campaign, hence ignored. Media bias? What media bias?

[...] Book Review: The Case Against Barack Obama by David Freddoso : Stop The ACLU Throughout his tenure in the Illinois General Assembly, Obama had given favors and steered state contracts to contributors and friends. In particular, he has a great deal of ties to real estate developers that benefited from his state legislative career and he benefited from their success. Developers having access to the corridors of power is nothing new, especially in Chicago, but for a candidate who is preaching an anti-lobbyist anti-special interest message, the evidence shows he didn’t practice what he preaches.
Mr John Uce likes to present himself as the even-handed, purveyor of balanced opinions. Yet in fact, all he does is denounce anyone of liberal tendencies. His smartness lies in the way he plays the message boards and forums to pretend to be level-headed when in fact all he raally is, is a hater of anything liberal.

Now there is nothing wrong with that, if it is stated simply, so that anyone can see his true colors. To hide behind the "intellectual middleground" position is disingenuous in the extreme.

See Mr. Uce's own MSN chat forum at http://groups.msn.com/NewsChat/ for examples of this.

<<>>

Where in the book or in the review is there any mention of communism, Islamistism, or kitten murder?

The letter writer builds a wall of snowmen in an transparent attempt to take one's eye off the real question: What's behind the curtain?

Obama's Chicago Democratic machine politics history helps to answer that question.

And surely Mr. Obama's associations must be weighed when assessing the man.

C'mon.

The book is a joke.

Which is it? Is Obama a commie or an Islamist (clearly, he can't be both)?

Or a devil-worshipper?

Who drives over kittens for fun.

This book will sell. The Rush-Coulter-Hannity crowd will lap it up but it won't be on any bookstore shelves in 3 months. And in five years it will be almost impossible to find a copy (remember all those "Hate-Bill-Clinton" books of the 1990s that can't seem to be found anymore?

And the book won't make any difference.

It will be purchased by the "base" of the GOP, whom already are anti-Obama.

And ignored by everyone else, including indepepents, who'll roll their eyes at the outlandish claims of the book ("OMG - Obama was educated at a moslem madrassah, is a cocaine addict and worships at a radical Protestant church on Sundays!")

Just stop already.

Now, let me get back to reading about George W Bush's cocaine-snorting, military-deserting, anti-Christian behavior of the mid-1970s to reinforce my already-held beliefs about the man.
