A Crucial Question

Posted on August 10, 2008

A note from Radarsite: In response to a recent Radarsite article our good friend and fellow blogger Findalis began her comments with this important but unfortunately still controversial statement:

Findalis said…
I am reminded that this war is a war
between the forces of Good against the forces of Evil.

To properly defend ourselves against this ruthless onslaught of the Bloody Religion of Peace we must first and foremost accept the existence of Evil. For some of our delusional friends on the left this seems to be a concept that is totally foreign to them. All wars, they hasten to explain, are merely the selfish actions of self-interested nation-states competing for world hegemony. All the participants have equally meritorious claims. In these great global conflicts there is no such thing as right or wrong, just differing perspectives.

If this view of our world is correct then Islam has as much moral standing as Christianity or Judaism, and is just as valid a form of society as a democracy.

How can we prosecute the GWOT and not believe in the existence of Evil?
In response to this question I am reposting a previously published article, which is I believe worth revisiting. In my opinion, there can be no better experts to answer this weighty question. – rg

A Crucial Question: Two Important Answers

Sir John Keegan:
“The world’s preeminent military historian.”

Professor Gerhard Weinberg:
“One of the world’s foremost scholars on
Hitler and Nazi Germany.”

Recently Radarsite had occasion to pose the following question to both Sir John Keegan and Prof. Gerhard Weinberg:
“Considering the number of revisionist histories which have been published in these past few decades, attempting to depict the Second World War as merely a morally-neutral conflict between nation-states over competing self-interests, do you still believe that that war was indeed a battle between Good and Evil?”

Both men answered with an unequivocal, Yes. Despite all of the intervening arguments to the contrary, both of these acknowledged experts still viewed WWII as a battle between the forces of Good and the forces of Evil — although, Prof. Weinberg added that the forces of Good had had to make temporary common cause with another force of Evil (the Soviet Union) in order to achieve its ultimate victory.

Why is this an important question today?

In our present PC society, where almost every moral stance has been eroded and weakened by those currently-popular concepts of moral equivalency, it is crucial for this beleaguered country of ours to accept the fact that Evil does exist. And, to believe that that is what we are currently fighting against; and that, as flawed as we may be, we are indeed the forces of Good.

Think of the trouble some people get into when it is suggested that they see this as good vs evil, as a war against Islam. Look at LTG.(Ret) William G. Boykin and the hell his life was turned into by a “journalist” who never even bothered to interview Boykin to get the truth.

William M. Arkin started the entire pack of lies, others jumped on the bandwagon.

Read “Never Surrender”, by Boykin and Lynn Vincent.

Roger, see the ad in the sidebar for the book called “God’s War On Terror”? Buy the book. It answers everything.

Finally, someone strong willed enough steps forward to declare, once and for all, that this IS a war of good vs. evil. You don’t know how long I have waited for the PC training wheel kid gloves to come off and the human world to kick the job into transforming culture into high gear, kudos! Without a doubt I am now more excited about the future than ever, because now we can all get down to the riveting business of doing what’s to be done. You have sincerely made my day a better one! I wish you all the luck and providence in the universe in your righteous and unyielding war against good. Excelsior!

Most of those claiming moral equivalency know full well that we are the good guys. Thing is, they’re scared of the bad guys. They don’t want a knife thrust in them, holding down a hate-filled note like that Van Gogh feller over in Holland.
So they rail against Bush and tell each other how brave they are.

Thanks everyone. And a special thanks to Brother B.

You’re right, Peter. So many people today are cowards, that’s all there is to it. The West is far from perfect, and it has been even less perfect in the past, but frankly, even the British Empire in the 18th century was more moral by modern standards than the Nazi or Communist empires of the 20th, or the Islamic imperialists of today. Russia, China, Islamists…they just don’t give a crap about individual rights and freedoms. Americans were asked to give up far more liberties during the Civil War and WWII than they have been asked to give up thus far in 8 years of conflict, with many of the enemy already on our soil, and still others of the enemy seeking WMDs beyond anything the Japanese or Germans possessed, yet the Left bitches and moans about the Patriot Act and FISA. It’s pathetic.

    Better re-read Brother B’s last sentence, Roger…

  9. Roger W. Gardner on August 12th, 2008 12:02 am

Thank you Machine, but I did already re read that last sentence, and I decided — perhaps mistakingly — that that last word “good” was a mistake. However, if the mistake was mine, then all I can say is that, in his attempt at satire, he made a pretty convincing argument for our side. lol
