Obama Snubs Troops Then Uses “Non-Political” Speech in Germany to Raise Cash
Posted on July 24, 2008
Hmmm…for a “non-campaign” event that included a “non-political” speech in Germany on Obama’s King of the World tour, Obama had made it a point that it was “non-political”. How is it then, that his campaign is using it to raise cash?
Shortly after 6 pm Central time — just a few hours after Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, gave his speech in Berlin, which his campaign insisted was not political — his campaign manager, David Plouffe, sent out a fundraising solicitation using the speech to raise campaign cash.
“As you may have heard, Barack has been in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia this week,” reads the email, with a big red “DONATE” sign. “Today, he spoke in Berlin, Germany. In a city where a wall once divided the free from the oppressed, he talked about tearing down the walls that divide all peoples so we can address our common problems — the threats of terrorism and nuclear weapons, global warming and genocide, AIDS and poverty. Watch Barack’s historic speech and share it with your friends.”
Amazing! Just chalk it up to the list of Obama deceptions. The cherry on top for this tour is that Obama cancelled a visit to injured vets, yet found the time to hit the gym. Shame? He has no room for it with all the arrogance.
Obama and his campaign made a concerted effort at painting this as a Senatorial trip not one of a presidential candidate, yet admitted earlier that it was being funded by campaign money, and has now been caught soliciting for campaign cash in an email that includes the full video…

Everyone loves to find fault with every move Obama makes. It would be nice if people writing articles would check the facts before influencing opinions about Obama or McCain.
The Pentagon contacted the Obama campaign to tell them the visit would be viewed instead as a campaign event.

Andrea Mitchell, NBC, also announced that the Pentagon contacted Obama at the last minute to inform him he could not visit the troops in Germany because he was on a campaign visit versus congressional visit.

I am glad the troops, some from Iraq and some from Afghanistan, in their hospital beds, unable to escape, are not subjected to the torture of being used by a politician, especially an anti-Iraqi freedom, pro Hamas, anti-American politician who has no idea what he is talking about in regard to these countries, religions, or soldiers, and who does not really care about them, ie, those countries, religions or soldiers.
Jim:
I’m one of those who find fault with every more Obama makes because I think he’s an unpatriotic, incompetent scam artist.
I’ve watched Andrea Mitchell become increasingly uable to hide her enthusiasm for Obama, so I don’t regard her as a reliable source.
I’ve read elsewhere that Obama was welcome to visit, but he had to leave the entourage behind. Without the entourage, he took a pass.
I suspect that there will be continual back and forth about this in the next day or so. My information may not be correct, but I’m not relying on Andrea Mitchell as a source for a rebuttal.
Jim:
Here’s the second story I’ve seen on this:
