This is pretty extraordinary. A candidate for the American Presidency is using flyers printed in German to turn people out for his campaign rally in Berlin on Thursday. This flyer can be found on a bilingual page on BarackObama.com advertising the event:

Say, Barry? Buuuuddy? No matter how much you want it, German citizens cannot vote for you. I know you folks on the left take the whole worldwide opinion thing a bit too seriously, but, I do believe you are over-doing it.

“It is not going to be a political speech,” said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. “When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally.

“But he is not president of the United States,” a reporter reminded the adviser.

Not that anyone believed that. Barry is going to preach from the mount. Should be interesting. I have to wonder if he will take the typical route and tell them that America has to be a better friend to them and the world? Will it cause orgasms? Or, is it a sign that Barry really doesn’t like it when people show opposition to him

For security reasons, do not bring bags. Please limit personal belongings. No signs or banners permitted.

Reading a bit further down the page, he doesn’t seem enamoured with the press, either.

What is up with Barry’s Lenin posters? Did they dig up the Communist propaganda artist from the Bolshevik Revolution? Or is he just trying to soften his image as a Black person and lean toward being blue?

B.H. Obama is the most scripted canidate in my memory. When he speaks without a teleprompter or speech he make Bush sound articulate. This guy is a empty suit and you would think this was American Idol not the run for the most powerful office in the world. I suupose that if he wins then my chance to take over GM with no relevent experience goes dramatically up.

At the very least, his PR graphics types are clueless or enamored with the political graphics style of their Che T-shirts.

No matter what their intent, they sure seem to use a lot of the generic Third World Heroic Glorious Leader imagery and Soviet-era style.

Not exactly an empty suit. He (or his handlers) seem to have read the omens that this is a period of Messiah Politics, with True Believers longing for an Outsider to ride in on His White Horse and Make Everything Perfect Forevermore. (I saw the same dynamic with Ross Perot in 1992 — “Have you Accepted Ross Perot as Your Personal LORD and Savior?”) And he’s running entirely on force of personality and cultivated personal charisma as a Messiah figure. (”Have you Accepted Barack Obama as Your Personal LORD and Savior? HOPE! CHANGE! HOPECHANGE!”)

P.S. And this IS American Idol. What do you think American elections are?
