We need to scrap the whole system and start anew. Teach the basics of Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. Throw in Patriotism and Civics. Get away from boosting self-esteem and ego and focus on learning. Then you will see test scores rise.

Nothing in what I read above stated anything about taking away people’s children. What I read was making available services that children and families would be able to utilize. But I didn’t read anywhere that these would be mandatory, because not every student needs it. The idea that these services should be offered by the school system is ridiculous- local hospitals, charitable organization, and outreach groups could do it (and probably do it better).

Come on people. Let’s focus on the issues and quite trying to reduce everything to us vs. them.

“anti-American game this woman is playing”? Really? That’s the problem with a lot of conservatism these days…everything is labeled as anti-American. While I think her proposal is severely foolish and unrealistic, as the spouse of a teacher I can tell you that they see children lacking these services in their home every day. I think she is simply trying to fill a need that is recognized within the schools, even though it is a foolish idea. That in no way makes her anti-American, just misguided.
