Obama’s supporters constantly say we are not being fair–that it is very responsible to change one’s mind. And they constantly support this by saying that McCain has changed his mind, too. However, they fail to see the difference.

Changing your mind: After evaluating your stance with the facts, you decide that your opinion is incorrect and you change your opinion.

Flip-flop: After evaluating the popular opinion, you are concerned that you may lose your reputation, and in the case of politics, your vote. In order to get more votes, you change your opinion, depending on which group you are talking to.

Now, which group is Obama in?

And ever notice that when the O flip/flops and someone calls him on it, it’s never his fault? It’s always “This is the same as I’ve been saying all along” or “You took my words out of context” or “I never heard him say anything controversial” or the always helpful “Can’t I just eat my waffle?” When you read his words, it’s obvious to any English-speaking person he’s changed his mind, but he tells you it’s YOUR imagination.
