You people are so full of it your eyes are brown.

Ever been to a Nascar Event? 260,000+ people of all walks of life and not a problem! People respecting people is why these races are so successful. And yes i have been to many and even stayed in the infield at a few. Yes there was beer and i am sure drugs was there but people have respect and not to do it in puplic and in front of or around kids!

Hippie events are like part time drug stores. They do drugs in front of kids and could care less. You people want to do your drugs then do them in your own home not out in puplic and try to make an event out of your addictions!

I haven't been to a gathering in many years, but I have to say, the ones I did attend had upwards of 20 to 30,000 people; I never so much as witnessed a fight. Pretty amazing when you think about it- certainly not something you see at, say, Sturgis, another huge event near Wyo in which there is large lawless element, yet no one bats an eye. Hmmmmm.
The Rainbows are a group of people who gather every year TO PRAY. Think about that for a moment, please. Some of the most profound moments of my life were standing in a circle with thousands upon thousands of people and praying.
In case you all forgot, it isn't against the law to be dirty or eccentric; and as many on this board have shared, people from all backgrounds show up. Every year the media spreads garbage about "dirty eccentric hippies" and every year curious locals show up, and leave in amazed wonderment of such a cooperative society and peaceful people, from all backgrounds, races, religions, and so on.
Before you cast judgement, perhaps you ought to attend just to see for yourself. In my humble opinion, we need the Rainbow Family more than ever.
Oh, and has anyone here asked themselves when the USFS began using SWAT gear, and why?

I wonder if ya'll realize how silly some of you look with your criticisms and judgements based on false information. I witnessed the Kiddie City Incident. At no time were the arresting authorities surrounded by anyone. There were nowhere near 400 people haranguing them. Maybe it felt that way to the terrified cops, not accustomed to dealing with outraged, vociferous, fearless folks.

If you had witnessed the police conduct in a kitchen crowded with children, you would understand the outrage. They came into kiddie village and roughed up an old man (for smoking pot?) and a woman and then leveled their tasers and opened fire with the riot gun at people who were not physically threatening them just loudly complaining about their inappropriate dangerous tactics. This was several minutes before the alleged rock throwing by a handful of people that were following behind them as they headed up the trail to their vehicles.

There is not room her to describe the whole incident. It's sad that gov. misinformation has to be spread and believed by the naive.

What's ironic is that if the feds had saved the taxpayers money and just stayed out of the site and stuck to searching for the missing boy, busting legitimate traffic violations, the incident wouldn't have happened and nothing else would be any different except a couple of potheads wouldn't have to deal with the misdemeanor fine. Gatherings are self-policing and have historically cooperated with the authorities when there is a need. Since violent crime is almost non-existant at gatherings the need seldom arises.

Read the responses posted so far on this blog. Isn't it interesting that of the 8 responses (as of today, 7/9) the two that have the least sarcasm and nastiness, and the most coherence, reason and conciliation are from the people who have actually been at gatherings? Sonny Lyons and Mighty Joe Young, thank you for your words.

I too was at this year's gathering. Please, everyone, do not believe the Forest Service reports of a "mob" of 400. What I saw that afternoon was a concerted effort on the part of the Forest Service to instigate trouble. All afternoon they were stalking through the woods with weapons drawn, poking into people's tents. The Rainbows stayed back and watched. It wasn't until the officers went to Kiddie Village at dinner-time and started firing that they got a reaction (they picked the most likely time and place for a reaction, and it still wasn't an "attack" on them). The Forest Service had an agenda to cause trouble, lied about the happenings, and now are trying to use their lies to deny Rainbow Family's legal right to gather in the future.

I am in my 50's, a professional; and I bathed every day at the gathering. The Rainbow Family is a widely varied group. We come together to create a peaceful community which takes care of each other and the environment. It is an experiment that the rest of our society would do well to emulate.

Law enforcement would do better to focus their 4th of July energy out on the highways, stopping drunk drivers.

This year was my first Gathering, I was inspired by my first-born son and wanted him to see how people could live together without the root of all evil and work towards peace. No one, not even police have the power to take away our constitutional rights. What the terrorist did Thursday was totally and completely unconstitutional, they were shooting children with rubber bullets. Those agents are extremely lucky to have gotten out at all, for had we been prone to violence we could have simply made them disappear. We walked them back to their vehicles and asked them to leave and they did.

How sad is it that the Sublette County Sheriff, who's son had been missing for several days was found the next day after he had committed suicide. Yet all these terrorist were harassing us instead of helping find someone that truly needed it. His body was found more than 6 miles from our camp, but most of the so called search efforts were conducted in the immediate area of our peaceful assembly.

This was the 37th year of our Gathering and there will be a 38th, 39th, 40th and a 200th. I hope to see ya'll next year. We love you!!

'The Powers That Be sure love to keep us all fighting amongst ourselves.'

Thank you Sonny, the first healing thing I read here.
And you a first hand observer of the so-called "problem".
More *independent* reports from the Rainbow site state that the Feds have outright lied (again?*shocking* ) about crowd reaction.
Yawn ;-/
400 people stoning Feds, but not a one was struck?
Y'know y'all have gotta be joking.

So is this blog about improving crushing Federal powers over individuals and groups?
We all know how the feds' been aiming for an air of the "lawyerly"-ie., belligerent- at every angle.
The USFS' been gunning for the Rainbow Gathering for years, ever since our dear Resident assumed his extraordinary powers.
No surprise here then, all SOP BS.

Goddesses on anyone who will challenge madness to heal.
Bless the ACLU for every fundament they can stick.
Anyone complaining about "Taxpayers' Money" who neglects to zero in on our billionaire's war- well,
You Sir, smell like an obvious flack.
I'd rather smell of holiday campfire any day.
