“If we had done what Senator Obama asked us to do for the last couple of years, today Iran and al Qaeda would be in control of Iraq. It would be a terrible defeat for us and our allies in the Middle East and throughout the world. Instead, we’ve got a country that’s defending itself, that’s growing economically, where there’s been genuine political reconciliation, and where Iran and al Qaeda are on the run. And that’s the way it ought to be.”

The nutroots have already written Lieberman out of their party, so it won’t take long before they start ridiculing him for this statement. How much influence his opinions have on the few remaining blue dog, middle of the road folks remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, the lefty General Wes Clark goes after McCain.

Nothing better underscores the coming fate of John McCain than the fact that such an obvious line of attack on Barack Obama is a rare event, and that the attack is made not by the candidate but by a democrat. Pathetic.

So let me get this straight. Had Saddam (a Sunni and enemy of Iran) not been removed from power, Iran (Shia) and Al Qaeda (Sunni) would be running Iraq??!! Removing Saddam Hussein bolstered Iran’s influence across Iraq to Syria and Lebanon!!! How do these guys come up with this stuff. The failure of Leiberman, McCain and most other Republicans to grasp even the most elementary facts of this war does not bode well the future of our country and our place in the world. Pull the flagpins out of your brains!!!
