Global warming hits Washington hard… with SNOW in June

Posted on June 15, 2008

One of the wonderful things about global warming is that no matter what happens with the weather, it can always be blamed on global warming. Of course, that only works if you’re one of the Goracle’s Kool-Aid drinkers. Any kind of weather symptoms whatsoever mean that global warming is real. Really hot? Global warming. Really cold? Global warming. Too many hurricanes? Global warming. Too few hurricanes? Global warming. Flooding due to excessive rain? Global warming. Droughts due to not enough rain? Global warming.

And on and on and on it goes.

Now, of course, for those of us who don’t drink the Kool-Aid, stories like this one give us a lot of skepticism:

The Spokane area saw record low temperatures and even a little bit of snow Tuesday morning, and all just 11 days before the official start of summer.

Much of the Inland Northwest remained under a snow warning from the National Weather Service Tuesday morning. KHQ received calls from people in Reardan, Moscow, Pullman, Loon Lake, Airway Heights, Deary, Spokane’s South Hill, and Deer Park who all say they saw snow Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather service, Spokane’s low temperature dipped all the way down to 36 degrees. A trace of snow was also recorded at the airport.

Forecasters expected 5 to 10 inches of wet snow above the 3,500-foot level Tuesday morning in the Cascades with lesser amounts down to 2,500 feet. A Transportation Department spokesman said it’s been about 30 years since a snowplow has had to clear Stevens Pass in June.

In Port Orchard, on the west side of Washington, South Kitsap High School had to cancel classes today because of a power outage. It’s one of about 6,000 Puget Sound Energy customers in Kitsap County that lost service in Monday night’s windstorm.

Forecasters say the cold low-pressure system is moving east and high pressure should bring temperatures back to near-normal 60s by Thursday in Washington. The temperature made it up to only 55 on Monday at Sea-Tac Airport. The National Weather Service says that was a record low-maximum. The old record was 55, set just last year.

Other record low-maximums Monday were 54 at Hoquiam and 54 at Bellingham.

Here’s pictures of the global warming in action:

The global warming scam is falling apart at the seams. Even the founder of the Weather Channel, John Coleman, isn’t a believer:

Worldwide there was a significant natural warming trend in the 1980’s and 1990’s as a Solar cycle peaked with lots of sunspots and solar flares. That ended in 1998 and now the Sun has gone quiet with fewer and fewer Sun spots, and the global temperatures have gone into decline. Earth has cooled for almost ten straight years. So, I ask Al Gore, where’s the global warming?

The cooling trend is so strong that recently the head of the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had to acknowledge it. He speculated that nature has temporarily overwhelmed mankind’s warming and it may be ten years or so before the warming returns. Oh, really. We are supposed to be in a panic about man-made global warming and the whole thing takes a ten year break because of the lack of Sun spots. If this weren’t so serious, it would be laughable.

So now the global warming myth actually has lead to the chaos we are now enduring with energy and food prices. We pay for it every time we fill our gas tanks. Not only is it running up gasoline prices, it has changed government policy impacting our taxes, our utility bills and the entire focus of government funding. And, now the Congress is considering a cap and trade carbon credits policy. We the citizens will pay for that, too. It all ends up in our taxes and the price of goods and services.

So the Global warming frenzy is, indeed, threatening our civilization. Not because global warming is real; it is not. But because of the all the horrible side effects of the global warming scam.

I love this civilization. I want to do my part to protect it.

If Al Gore and his global warming scare dictates the future policy of our governments, the current economic downturn could indeed become a recession, drift into a depression and our modern civilization could fall into an abyss. And it would largely be a direct result of the global warming frenzy.

My mission, in what is left of a long and exciting lifetime, is to stamp out this Global Warming silliness and let all of us get on with enjoying our lives and loving our planet, Earth.

It’s time that we Americans stop letting our lives be dictated by the threat of global warming. We’ve been tricked by a snake oil salesman, someone who wanted to play on our fears to further his agenda. The scare tactics and fraudulent science being used are deplorable, and it’s time we stop allowing ourselves to be fooled. You want to see global warming in action, then go rent “The Day After Tomorrow”. Otherwise, be smart and let this go.

The main flaw with blaming all the environmental degredation on man made emissions of CO2 is that it does nothing to protect the environment… And lets face it… the proof isn’t there. Sure, the planet is warming. Did we cause it? Unlikely… Does 100 years of gradually improving weather measurements mean we can accurately predict future climate? No. Do we have the capability to predict the weather in 3 months time let along 30 years or 300 years? No. Do we have to adapt to global warming? Yes! Do we think we can stop global warming? You are an idiot if you think you can!

Stop the ACLU, Rock on! I think a lot of people are getting tired of the global warming threats, I know I am!
Sure it’s a good thing to be good to our environment, don’t throw trash out in the streets, pick up your cig butts, recycle what you can…it all keeps the earth beautiful.
I am from up here in the Great Pacific Northwest I admire the beauty of this area and will do my best to keep it beautiful. However, there are so many “extreme’s” concerning “global warming” up here and all over for that matter, where its really getting so ridiculous! People shunned for driving cars…we’re suppose to take the bus or ride our bikes everywhere….Get rid of your gas sucking GT convertible and resort to an ugly shoe with boo-koo batteries and no ump so you can’t pull your boat. BTW, get rid of the boat it’s polluting our drinking water…do not enjoy life as God has given it to you to enjoy!
Global warming? Up here? I say, bring it on! And meanwhile, Im going to enjoy life, in my GT and out on the lake, and I’ll be driving to the store and back…
PS What plan do they have when all those ugly battery operated cars break down? What are they suppose to do with all the batteries?
You just keep on rambling, Girlfriend! That’s how Al Gore started all this nonesense. That’s how it’ll have to stop!

It was a great weekend to be out on the slopes at Willamette Pass.

In regard to the global warming scare, I always try to squash the hype by referring to the sun … I usually say something like this when engaged in an argument: “global warming is not proven … what is proven, documented and observable is SOLAR WARMING … sun spots!” The average person has never heard of this, and can’t effectively respond.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in observing up to the minute snow levels, and ski area conditions please check out http://www.OnTheSnow.com … the site is extensive with conditions for ski areas, in North America, Europe, and the Southern Hemisphere. Right now the focus is on winter in Chile, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand.

Seriously. The loudest whiners, I’ve noticed, hail from Canada and Britain. What’s interesting, though, is that there are more deaths per capita in Britain from the cold as opposed to the heat.

I agree with Beverly and the need to clean up after ourselves. However I do not for one minute agree with the Global Warming Scam. I work on a drilling rig in the arctic. We have the cleanest, safest oilfield in the world here in Alaska and have every intention of keeping it that way. I have worked on the north slope for 15 years and we’ve had the coldest year this year that I can remember. While mainstream media is talking about the coast of Alaska receding rapidly, I have personally witnessed it frozen solid on the same day. Don’t get sucked into this crap. The earth has Ice ages about every 10,000 yrs. Between ice ages the earth warms. in the 70’s they feared a coming ice age. If we was to bet on which to worry about more, my $$ would be on buying a warm coat.

Thank you, Brian! This has been my husband and my thoughts for years. He, too, works around oil fields. He’s a piping designer and has good knowledge about how this all ties into what has been going on concerning our own oil fields, foreign oil, high gas prices, and coming food shortages, (already happening) and they all tie together in results of the global warming “threats.”
Even last evening on the news they are already talking about a 6% increase in inflation because of the flooding in our mid states where they produce food for the world.
It is interesting that they mention that now there will be a higher demand on ethanol. Like they are more concerned about having enough ethanol than feeding people. Got to have “clean air” first?
The “whiners” don’t realize that the US has more than enough oil to produce for our own in the northern slope and off our coasts that we can easily support ourselves AND export to serve other countries (thus getting our debt down)….but thanks to whoever (whiners) gave the environmentalists
the power to run this country a muck!
The US has not been able to even build one new refinery since the 70’s. We have all this oil and can’t touch it. We have people willing to do what it takes to get it useable, but we’d rather cry and complain and hug tree’s than be self efficiant.
I’m glad people are finding out the truth and speaking out!
As for warming and cooling, I believe the earth has a 30-40 year trend. It warms a bit for 30-40 years and then has a cooling trend for the same. I have an article about that “somewhere” from a WWU professor I stumbled on a few months ago.If I can find it I’ll grab a link.

Beverly, You and your husband seem like sensible people with a better grasp on reality than most. Punishing big oil with taxes will only hurt our economy and domestic production. If we tax them are we also going to bail them out when they have record losses as we do with Savings & Loans, Airlines, Mortgage Lenders, and foriegn dictatorships? If Clinton had signed ANWR rather than veto it his first term, a conservative estimate of new oil would be about 300 thousand barrels a day.ANWR is about new technology and a small footprint in the arctic. And for the misinformed, there are no mountains, precious streams or trees on the north slope. It is flat as far as the eye can see. Wildlife interacts and has the right of way. This is nothing like the old oilfields of Texas and Okla.

I’m encouraged this morning to wake up to breaking news that President Bush is pushing for lifting the ban on offshore drilling. There is already a big fight about that with democrats making it a politic issue instead of calling it what it would be…relief!
You can bet that this is exactly what is going to make or break the candidates this year in the presidential election.
It’s got nothing to do with democrats or republicans. People need to take their blinders off!
Punishing “big oil” is obviously as effective as shooting ourselves in the foot!
Remember the same “whiners” saying the war in Iraq is all about the oil? Funny that we get none of their oil!
