Same false logic that makes the war on drugs such a dismal failure. Restricting access just drives up the price, does nothing to prevent someone prohibited from owning a weapon from stealing, making, or buying on the black market whatever they decide they must have to support whatever nefarious plan pops into their pointy heads. Meantime, onerous restrictions either delay or prohibit honest folk from obtaining the best means of self protection available. Gun control simply does not work. It punishes the innocent while at best being a minor nuisance for the criminal.
