Kill the GOP? Maybe, but nothing can kill conservatism. Perhaps McCain will bury it, but it will only result in a great resurrection at some point.

As a (mostly) life-long Democrat, I am switching my vote to McCain if Obama is the Democratic nominee.

I still think McCain will destroy whats left of the GOP. With a McCain presidency and a large Dem majority in both Houses and McCains desire to make friends with Reid and Pelosi what bills will pass? When Universal Healthcare and Amnesty pass decades later they will blame a GOP President. As the saying goes ” On his Watch”. McCain will side with Dems against real conservatives very often.

I’ve said it before, elsewhere, but I can’t wait to see the election coverage. People being exit polled are likely to lie, and say they voted for Obie, just so they won’t be thought of as racist. If that happens, the networks will be calling the election for Obama, but then will find themselves stumped by how he lost so badly.

Amen! It is ironic to me that so many conservatives predicted that John McCain would destroy the GOP, yet now it is becoming ever apparent that he is the only person that can save us from complete oblivion this November. True, he has taken positions on some issues that are not doctinaire conservative, and he has not been shy about it. However, so has George W. Bush, and for that matter Ronald Reagan. It is beyond disturbing to hear conservatives say they won’t vote for McCain to ‘teach everyone a lesson’. Another 9/11? Coffee with the scum of the Earth? Roe v. Wade the law of the land FOREVER? If you can honestly say that you are comfortable with any of the above, then you are NOT a conservative and have absolutely no business saying McCain is not conservative.
