Salt Lake Tribune: ACLU says membership has doubled — thanks to Bush presidency

Yeah, because the leftists are so worried about the rights of terrorists and illegal aliens.

ACLU Press Release: ACLU Welcomes Detainee Basic Medical Care Act

See? What did I tell ya?

This legislation requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop procedures to ensure adequate medical care for all detainees held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The legislation also requires ICE to report detainee deaths to the DHS and Department of Justice Offices of Inspector General.

“The government’s failure to provide adequate medical care to immigrants held in its custody is not just inhumane, but is also a betrayal of our constitutional principles,” said Caroline Fredrickson, director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office. “Waiting for this long overdue legislation, far too many immigration detainees have needlessly suffered and died while DHS denied them much needed medical care.”

Let’s just keep growing that government bigger and bigger. It’s funny that their answer to the abuses by the Bush administration is to get more legislation in place to make government even worse than it is now.

Of course, they believe just like La Raza – that regardless of the status of their citizenship – or if they are here illegally, they’re “entitled” to medical care. I suppose this applies to guys like Mohammed al-Qahtani, the 20th hijacker.

Did you hear? The charges against him were dismissed “without prejudice”. (which means double jeopardy considerations do not apply and they may be refiled.-See Dubya and Michelle Malkin’s)

Um, if we’re going to lock someone up, yeah, we become responsible for giving them the basic necessities of life. Dungeons went out of style a few centuries ago.

If you’re worried about the size of government there are a million more important ways to check its growth. You have to be a special brand of cold-blooded to deny band-aids and antibiotics to our captives.

Well, the ACLU’s membership has doubled! LOL! So, would you guys call that “Mission Accomplished”??? AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Enjoy being a fringe minority for the next couple of generations.

By the way – I’m a proud card carrying member of the ACLU myself.
