Where do the Democrats Go From Here?

Posted on May 6, 2008

Obama wins big in North Carolina, and Hillary wins in Indiana. Some are saying its over for Hillary.…but they’ve been saying that.

If Clinton can’t win the popular vote, that means she won’t have a single metric to back up her claim to superdelegates that she deserves the nomination. (Obama has pledged delegates and number of contests, as well.) Without that, hers will be a tough case to make, no matter how many more dumb things the Rev. Wright says.

But it does matter what Wright says in the long run. I really doubt Obama has any chance in the general with all the damage and baggage he’ll be dragging along with him.

Obama has the better night, but Hillary won’t quit till someone makes her….so it looks to me like they continue to duke it out. McCain has the best night.

P.S. Why is the media taking so long to call Indiana for Hillary. Isn’t it obvious? One thing is for sure…Hillary didn’t get her “game changer” tonight. Are the Dems cracking up? Heh.

Rumor: Media to step up efforts tomorrow to push Hillary out of the race? We will see. Meanwhile, the popcorn continues.

Lorie Byrd has a nice roundup. as well as Michelle Malkin.

I’m a strong supporter of Clinton. Tonight, I feel that things are done for her and for the sake of our party we need to get more serious for a while. The game is over and this appears to be a fact. Another important fact to consider is that HRC team has been the only one to pressure superdelegates for not yet endorsing Obama, which means Clinton team believes that superdelagates are ready to move Obama’s way.
Increasingly the race is taken a nasty turn and I’ve had to remind myself that both candidates come from the democratic party. We and the Obama people are all democrats, let’s unit and fight McCain instead of consfusing ourselves.

What’s interesting is that Al Gore stated today that he “might” endorse a candidate before the convention. It seems like he’s holding back to leave room for something like the Denver Plan democrats keep hearing about. That’s just what we need. Someone stepping in who didn’t even run and taking the nomination.

    Gorede,

“We and the Obama people are all democrats, let’s unit [sic] and fight McCain instead of consfusing [sic] ourselves.”

Judging from your spelling, you really are confused, aren’t you?

Some modest observations: I would hardly call this election campaign a “game”–the stakes couldn’t be higher (would you be willing to wager your life that Obama or Hillary will seriously deal with Al Qaeda and Iran?).

Hillary’s not out of this campaign by a longshot: they’ll have to drag her out feet first and understandably so. Hey, would YOU get out if there was a chance that both Michigan and Florida could be seated at the convention?

Accordingly, if you thought Chicago ‘68 was wacky, then wait and see what happens at Denver ‘08, especially if Michigan and Florida are both left out in the cold. If that happens, I’ve got a sawbuck that says there’ll be a “President McCain” in your future.
