Judge Places Liens On Westboro Baptist Church

Hmmm…looks like God’s wrath against homosexuals isn’t being cast upon a Marine or little Amish girls this time around.

A federal judge in Maryland on Thursday ordered liens on the Westboro Baptist Church building and the Phelps-Chartered Law office.

If the case presided over by U.S. District Court Judge Richard D. Bennett is upheld by an appeals court, the church, at 3701 S.W. 12th, and the office building, at 1414 S.W. Topeka Blvd., could be obtained by the court and sold, with the proceeds being applied toward $5 million in damages Bennett imposed on church members for picketing a military funeral.

Awesome indeed!

Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiller has a suggestion:

If the properties mentioned are seized, we suggest that they be sold to, say, the GBLT community. We’re sure that they can make good use of them, and we suggest that the properties be sold to them cheap.

Dirt cheap.

Or maybe sell them to the VFW?

Can someone give this judge an award of some kind please? Its been a long time coming…and its something the left and the right can join together in dance about. Celebrate everytime true evil and hate are dealt a blow.

Not everyone is thrilled with this decision. See http://jacklewis.net/weblog/archives/2008/04/snyder_v_phelps.php for reasons why this is actually a bad thing.
