Chris Hackett, a Conservative We Need in Pennsylvania, 10th District
-By Warner Todd Huston

I know what you’re thinking…”I don’t live in Pennsylvania, so why should I care about a Congressional race there?” That really is a good question. Here is the answer: because our enemy does.

Here is the thing, the left does not only worry about their own individual races. A liberal in New York does not ignore a Congressional race in New Hampshire. A socialist in Georgia does not turn in disinterest from a race in Pennsylvania. They concern themselves with Congressional races all across the country.

We should, too. If we stay so parochial that we don’t bother supporting and rooting for conservative Congressional candidates from other states than the one in which we live, we are ceding the great battle ground to the left who WILL organize and support candidates from other areas.

So, along those lines I’d like to introduce you all to Chris Hackett who is running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District. Chris announced his run for the seat last August.

Chris is intensely interested in budget cutting measures and anti-pork. Chris is an entrepreneur and owns SHS TechStaffing, a recruiting and temp staffing service, so he knows what it means to have a budget and hold to it.

The great conservative site RedState.com is endorsing him and I hope all of you talk a little about him on your blogs and encourage folks to send a little campaign money his way.

Now, we also have another reason as conservatives to support Chris Hackett. The establishment of the GOP (Yes those idiots that gave us Arlen Spector!) are supporting another GOP candidates whose only qualifications are that he is rich. They are supporting a guy named Dan Meuser. Meuser is no conservative and does not represent the constituency of the 10th District nearly as well as Hackett. We need to be sure and encourage old Danny boy to take a hike.

For some more details on the District and the situation there, Real Clear Politics has a great piece.

The RCP article reveals some interesting campaign money facts:

At the end of December, Meuser showed more than $650,000 raised, but almost 40 percent of that figure came from his own pocket. Hackett had raised $470,000, but one-third of that was his own money. In contrast, Carney had raised almost $1 million, ending the year with $760,000 in the bank and no debt.

So, now you see what I mean about drumming up donations to Hackett’s campaign and how they are desperately needed. Please donate any amount — even $10 bucks will help — by CLICKING HERE.

Remember, THIS is how the left beats us. They have small donors all over the place. We need to do the same to give our side a fighting chance.

And for those of you in the 10th District in Pennsylvania…VOTE CHRIS HACKETT!

    Warner,
Wait one moment please. Before you endorse Mr. Hackett please do a little checking around. There are many reasons why the local “establishment” people are getting behind MEuser and it isn’t because he is “rich”. PLease call some county elected officials, Republican committee people, people who aren’t involved in the campaign. You will see that the people who actually KNOW these candidates for who they are… support Meuser. THe fellow you are asking people to send money to is not the right candidate. For too many reasons to mention….

I’ll not “wait” any minutes. Meuser is mushy on nearly every conservative principle…. JUST like the Pennsylvania GOP.

Meuser is not the choice for a principled conservative. I know this because I DID check before I wrote this piece. That is why it is an endorsement.

    Warner,
WHo did you check with?? People working for him? Did you ask him about the illegal immigrants he has working for him? Did you ask him about him switching from Pro-Choice to Pro-Life within the last 6 months? Did you ask him about his campaign contributions to Democrats and his no bid million dollar contract from said democrats after his contribution to the dem’s? Did you ask him about his temp service and how it takes good paying jobs from good people and substitutes them for $8.00 per hour no benefit jobs? Did you ask him about lying (mispeaking) about his involvement with bringing C3I to our area. Check your facts. You are backing the wrong guy. If MEuser isn’t the right choice for a “principled” conservative then HAckett certainly isn’t either. Unlike you I have met with both and can tell you without doubt that Meuser is the better candidate. Toomey blew it on this one…..

OK, like many, you have your reasons to bash someone. What about your reasons to support someone? Let’s hear WHY Meuser is the better candidate? He seems like he’s squishy on just about every conservative principle there is to me.

    Meuser is better because:
He is Pro-Life and always has been.
He is HONEST, principled, a good person.
    He is a TRUE leader.
    He is a job creator.
He cares about the people of the district, not just himself.
    HE is not an egomaniac.
He treats his employees well. They have more benefits than you can imagine. HE pays them a family sustaining wage.
He supports President Bush’s tax cuts.
He is a lifetime member of the NRA and was just endorsed by their VP.
He has done more for the Republican Party in the past 5 years than most Republicans will do in their lifetime.
He understands the plight of farmers and will work to help them.
I don’t have any “skins in the game” on this one Warner. I, like you, am a true conservative and want nothing more in this world than to take this seat back. Pat Toomey has gotten behind Hackett because of the people working for him. THey are trying to mold Hackett into this “true principled conservative” and franky he isn’t that at all. It infuriates me that Pat has jumped into this race. I supported him in his senate race but will not next time. I think he will run in 2010 and there are a lot of people in the 10th that won’t be with him like they were before due to this blunder. I urge you to spend a few hours with Hackett…. I guarantee you that you will come away a Meuser man. If you are serious about this I will send you names and numbers of True conservatives to call who know both candidates well. Character Counts!
