I am speaking only of what I see in my jurisdiction, (Houston area). The game has changed dramatically here, go to a new construction site here that is open shop and tell me how many Electricians speak english. Yea, they are better trained than I. And the reason I don,t follow the union, they are corrupt, liberal idiots.

Oh how I remember the great automobiles that the unions built in the 60s and 70s. Even in the 80s and at present. I've seen them break down before driving them home from the dealer. The great body work these pieces of crap had. One could get maybe 40,000 miles on a good engine before overhaul. Sometimes the engines would outlast the tires that got all of 15,000 miles before falling apart. Oh those days.

your comment does not speak of your talents as an electrician. it is well known that union hands pay someone else to keep their jobs for them (i know, cause my father was union w/gulf states utilities). many is the time his lunch break would involve a two hour nap on the couch on the clock. union people seem to think they are best b/c someone tells them to train(duh). where talent comes from is going of your own will and learning the craft because of your pride in self.

As a IBEW LU 716 member in Houston, TX;
I can say w/o a doubt that here, we definately have better training than our independant contractors. Trying to read into your story, the problem sounds as if it was with the contractors, state, and management. Remember - vote conservative - I will.
