UPDATE AND CAVEAT:

"The website DailyTech has an article citing this blog entry as a reference, and their story got picked up by the Drudge report, resulting in a wide distribution. In the DailyTech article there is a paragraph:

?Anthony Watts compiled the results of all the sources. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C ? a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year time. For all sources, it?s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.?

I wish to state for the record, that this statement is not mine: ??a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years?

There has been no ?erasure?. This is an anomaly with a large magnitude, and it coincides with other anecdotal weather evidence. It is curious, it is unusual, it is large, it is unexpected, but it does not ?erase? anything. I suggested a correction to DailyTech and they have graciously complied."

The above text is from the website Watts Up With That where this info was published it was then picked up by Daily Tech and the by Gribbit. Daily Tech misrepresented the data to fit it's own needs and as you can see was supposed to print a correction. Gribbit has made no such effort and in fact when I pointed this out on Gribbit's Word I found my self banned from his site. This is not the way accurate info is spread Gribbit.

As for the climate change debate itself, wether you believe it or not there are valid reasons for getting off fossil fuels and giving up those incandescent light bulbs. If you want coal mining to continue to tear up mountain tops and pollute streams and lakes then go ahead destroy the habitat where the rest of us hunt, fish and find peace from the messed up world we live in. If you want to keep oil fired power plants and home heating oil furnaces running and burning all that Mid-East oil that pays to set up the Islamic Wahabist schools that I hear the fear mongering far right complaining about then go ahead send you money to the Saudis. Why not just cut them a check directly. If you want to see Alaska destroyed by oil companies who cut every corner in maintenance (BP) to make a few more dollars go ahead. Now before you freak out and say "Hey this guy's just another hippy tree hugger" this is not the case first of all I have job so I can't be a hippy, second I have watched wind tower plans be opposed by enviro"mental"ists in my home state and have fought to keep the projects moving forward. Finally there is a finite amount of oil in the earth and one day it will be gone, what are we going to do then? Better to solve that problem now.
