Is Michelle Obama the Next Teresa Heinz Kerry?
Posted on February 18, 2008
First she said that only Obama can “fix America’s broken soul,” and now this. If anything can stop Obama from getting the nomination or eventual Presidency, his wife running her mouth could be it.
“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country,†she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “because it feels like hope is making a comeback.â€

Oh come on, she’s a girl, she’s not supposed to be smart, she’s supposed to look pretty and say ding-dong kinda stuff. You know, like girls do.
Pleeeeeease make me 1st Lady…for the first time in my life I can’t believe I could be 1st lady…it’s unbelieveable…
Be sure to listen to the 1 minute 14 seconds.
She is proud of the fact that so many Americans are understanding that there is more that unites us than divides us.
I consider this to be a welcome change from the political tribalism, or apathy, that too many Americans embraced for far to long.
Not all Bimbos are blonde, I see.
Please help me understand, what she say that was bimbo-esque? And a bimbo is what? A woman who does not think like a wealthy white man? Why would you think your thoughts are any more legit than those of anyone else?
Mirga, she completely ridiculed our country. That to me is trashy in the extreme, from someone that is married to a Presidential candidate, but I guess that your opinion would differ. She has always been ashamed of our country and now, that her husband is running for President, she is not? That is flat-out dumb.
This quote is inaccurate. ABC News reports that the quote actually said that she was now “REALLY proud” of her country. She didn’t say she wasn’t proud before. She said that NOW she is PROUDER because she has had a chance to travel all over America and meet people and see them vote for her husband. Wouldn’t that make you prouder of your country? I would be prouder if I had such a great experience.
Here’s the FULL quote:
“What we’ve learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback and let me tell you something, for the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it’s made me proud. And I feel privileged to be a part of even witnessing this, traveling around states all over this country and being reminded that there is more that unites us than divides us…”

Julie, really nice spin. Really.
In any case, didn’t Mrs. Obama say that she expected an American would try to kill her husband because he’s black?
A true patriot; Michelle Obama.
Just like her husband, she says absolutely nothing! Reading between the lines, it appears that she is saying that if her husband is elected President, all problems will be solved. We will finally enter Utopia, where everyone will have hope. Because, apparently, only the Federal government can provide this to everyone.
Every word counts:
“For the first time in my adult lifetime I am REALLY proud of my country”, suggesting that she’s always been proud and is now REALLY proud. The difference with or without this word is profound.
I think she speaks for most of us.
If people are going to criticize the lady at least get the quote right: “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.”
Focus on the words: adult lifetime, really, my country. Really! Did the lady say she has never been proud of her country in the last 25 years? NO, she said she was now she was REALLY proud of her country. She was proud before but now she was really proud to see the positive response to a call for a better America.
I was in the service of my country 40 years ago in Louisiana. I saw the white only drinking fountains. I saw white servicemen arrested for disturbing the peace because they entered black bars. I saw Jim Crow in all his ugliness. Ten days ago a Michelle’s husband got nearly as many white votes in that state as McCain and Huckabee did. That made me REALLY proud of my country. I was in the audience yesterday when Michelle spoke. This 60 yr white male veteran cried tears of joy as I realized America could reach its full potential.
Obama sounds like the Chance Gardner character in the movie Being There.

Chance is probably autistic and utters simple phrases that he has heard while watching television. Some around him believe these to be profound statements and want to run Chance for POTUS. Everyone should see this movie, especially during this presidential election cycle.
I’m sorry. Michelle Obama is an educated woman. She’s not unaware of what words mean. She says, “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.” In her entire adult life, the country has done nothing to make her really proud. That is exactly what she says. So she wasn’t really proud when thousands of Americans gave blood after 9/11? She wasn’t really proud when thousands of Americans opened their wallets and homes after Katrina? She’s not talking about the government. She is talking about people, the American People and how they are acting now that makes her proud, but what about their actions before?
I belive anyone implying something negative in her remarks is not only stretching really far…but may be just looking for anything to point to against Obama.
that would be “believe”
“Wouldn’t that make you prouder of your country? I would be prouder if I had such a great experience.”
Yup, if people were treating ME as a deity, and genuflecting and kissing MY ring, I would be proudER of them than if they did anything else in the whole world.
I am KIDDING, of course.
Alas, Michelle was telling us how she REALLY feels. Disappointing.
But then, what do we expect from politicians?
well here we go – Ya know, since the last election – i STILL TO THIS DAY have not bought another bottle of Heinz Ketchup, mustard – ANYTHING!
And If Michelle Obama is not proud of the good ol US of A – ship her self-centered self to Africa/IRAQ for 2 years and maybe she will change her self-centered arrogant attitude – SHEESH!
Hey, guys. I agree that Michelle Obama is a complete idiot for saying what she said but it’s extremely dishonest – whoever did it – to edit her words in the video. The word “really” was edited out as anyone who watches/listens can plainly hear.
You’re not helping your cause at all but doing crap like that. In fact, it could potentially be used against you.
BTW, even with the word “really” included, her statement is disgraceful.
isn’t this the same woman who when asked if she would support Hillary if she were nominated, said she would have to think about it?
she’s losing it now . wait.
you suppressed a crucial word in the quote (REALLY) and that alone is dishonesty.
You edited the video to make it say what you want and then repeated it.
She said “really proud” not proud.
This is why you will lose.
Because you have already lost your sense of dignity, the truth and your soul.
Michelle Obama is only proud now because there’s a very good chance her husband will pull this whole “empty motivational words of utter nonsense” off. And when he runs out of empty words, he take words from other people’s speeches. Why isn’t the media all over these two stories, like with Hillary and Bill? Remember when Hillary spoke “I could have stayed home and baked cookie but I chose to be a part of my husband campaign”. The media went after her juggler vein. You say something about Obama, and people accuse you of being racist. I am truly amazed at how a no experience, palletized person can slide into “maybe” becoming the President of our country? I’ll have to remember that the next time I want to become president/CEO of a huge corporation that I’m unqualified for I’ll just use some “feel good words” and I’ll be hired! Yippee!
