Clintonian Hypocrisy Over Chelsea

Cross-Posted FROM Gribbit’s Word (IN FULL)

Remember a few weeks ago when a child reporter in Iowa asked Chelsea a question to which she replied that she doesn’t answer questions from journalists? Is that policy now off the table? I mean if Hillary is going to send her out on the campaign trail it must be expected that Chelsea will be asked questions. And since she is putting her daughter in the public to drum up support, then she is no longer a private figure, she’s a public figure and no longer worthy of the privacy claims the Clintons have made in the past.

In the past week or so Chelsea has found her way into the news a few times. The first being on Super “Duper” Tuesday when she delivered a box of coffee (a box?) to a polling station in Connecticut. She was filmed by a television crew remaining in the station even AFTER the poll opened. This is flirting with election laws against politicking at a polling station. Next is the brouhaha over a MSNoBodyCares reporter’s use of the word pimp when referring to Hillary’s use of the previously “hands off” former first daughter.

The fact remains that the Clintons are attempting to have it both ways and they can’t. They need to face the fact that they have made Chelsea a public figure and stop protecting her. She’s 27 years old for the love of Pete and it is time she take responsibility for what she says in public. Her feet have to be held to the same fire as her mothers and she must be available to defend her statements and her actions. The Clintons created the situation and they must grow a few backbones and face the consequences of Hillary’s use of Chelsea in public.

Personally I have no problem with Chelsea Clinton. I think that when she was younger she was given a bad rap by the press over her looks. And I thought, even at the time, that it was uncalled for.

Every candidate uses family members in campaigns. But because they do they don’t attempt to shield them from responsibility for the statements and actions. That is where I have a problem.
