Rush Limbaugh Endorses Romney

Posted on February 5, 2008

It’s not like it is shocking. After all, we know what he thinks of Huck and McCain. Romney’s got the conservative talk show hosts lined up. Mark Levin, Hannity, Laura Ingraham and now El Rushbo himself.

The question of course: Is it too late to make any difference?

SeeDubya seems to think so:

Thanks, pal. You could have endorsed Mitt or, better yet, Fred when it mattered. Now it looks like you’ve managed to A: back a likely loser, hurting your own brand and B: accomplish next-to-nothing for your trouble. Rush, I love you man, and we wouldn’t be where we are today without you, but you blew this one. You did at least endorse the conservative candidate, so you get partial credit, but I don’t think you’ve helped yourself or us today.

Captain Ed:

The big question, of course, is the timing. Did this come one day too late, right on time — or does this just confirm the direction in which Rush has been going all along? I think it’s the latter. Rush’s opposition to McCain probably has already created whatever impact it has for today. The bigger question is whether it can turn the race if Romney can keep it relatively close after tonight.

James Dobson says if McCain is the nominee, he will sit this one out!

I won’t discourage anyone from voting the candidate they see fit, as long as they vote on principle. That is respectable enough for me. However, it is true that a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain. Yes, Huckabee does hurt Romney. Don’t doubt that there was a backroom deal between Huckabee and McCain, and that is why Huckabee hasn’t dropped out yet. We may just see ol Huckbee as VP yet.

I can’t find WV polls to gauge, but Martha MacCallum claims Romney’s 41-33 win during the first round of balloting was a surprise. Huckabee won the caucus when McCain’s supporters were apparently told to throw their support to him and keep the state out of Mitt’s hands.

Pretty maverick like strategies going on huh? Its gonna get really interesting.
