Can We Trust McCain on Appointing Judges?
Posted on February 4, 2008
I can’t tell you who to vote for, but please think carefully. The McCain camp is pushing this article, and the praise is on his electability. Now take a long look at this paragraph:
The judiciary is different. On Jan. 20, 2009, six of the nine Supreme Court justices will be over 70. Most of them could be replaced by the next president, particularly if he or she is re-elected. Given the prospect of accelerating gains in modern medical technology, some of the new justices may serve for half a century. Even if a more perfect candidate were somehow elected in 2012, he would not be able to undo the damage, especially to the Supreme Court.
Let that paragraph sink in deep. The article goes on to defend McCain on appointing judges, but before you swallow it whole, just think. He was a member of the “Gang of 14,” opposing the attempt to end filibusters of judicial nominations. There is much too much at stake to trust this slickster with such an important and lasting task.
I agree with MacRanger:
McCain during the last debate refused to criticize the appoint of middle grounder Sandra Day O’Connor, and in fact has hinted on many occassions that she was more to his liking than Judge Alito whom he called, “too conservativeâ€.
There is much to suspect in how McCain would appoint if allowed free reign to do so.
…and while we don’t have any candidate I’d trust completely with this tasks, any of the ones left would have more trust from me than McCain. And while we are talking about electability, the most likely candidate out there that can beat him is Romney. Vote for who you want, but keep in mind that splitting the vote will most likely elect McCain at this point.
However, if McCain becomes the nominee, I’m starting to lean away from the opinions of my other friends. While there are many issues that McCain and Hillary have in common, there are many important ones where they are different. I think one of those would be in appointing judges. Its hard to say, but if I were to gamble, I’d feel much safer putting my money on McCain for the courts than Hillary.
Their basis for supporting McCain on judges is more sound once the general election comes around and the choice could between McCain and Clinton/Obama. If that’s the choice in November conservatives are better off ignoring Ann Coulter and picking McCain.

The funny thing about that part of the debate was, Who Was The Only One To Say “No I Would Have Appointed A Strict Constitutionalist”?
Ron Paul, was the ONLY one to say that. Not Mitt, Not Huckabee, and of course not McStain. But the one who is casted by everyone on the “right” as a kook.
We can not trust McCain on apointing justices since I beleive he voter to confirm both Ruth Bader Gindsberg and Stephen Breyer. In the earlier case she was upfront about being pro-choice to commit murder.
