Westboro Hate Cult to Protest Heath Ledger Funeral

Its not just Marine funerals these freaks of hate protest of course. Predictable yet still sick. I’m not what you would call the most pro-gay person, but preaching hate at anyone’s funeral is about as sick as it gets. Via Ace:

I wonder if the freaks will go all the way to Australia to protest him. That’s where he will be buried.
If they are protesting gay sex they are protesting the wrong guy. Heath Ledger was heterosexual, not homosexual. He was acting in Brokeback Mountain.
I wonder if anyone is going to counter protest them, or if anyone really cares?
What is it with actors and actresses dying? What makes their deaths more special than anyone elses?
My Uncle died 6 days ago in an auto accident, where is the front page headlines on that?
It gets them attention and that seems to be what they really want. I do not really see how it obtains any other objective. Maybe they are able to recruit more members.

They don’t care about that. They protested at Jerry Falwell’s funeral, and he was certainly no homosexual.
Now that I’ve picked my jaw up off the floor I can now say: Oh My Gosh! All religion aside, these people have no respect for people in general or people’s feelings if they can stand outside someone’s FUNERAL and protest. I really want to walk up to them and say: If your child died, would you want a whole bunch of crazy lunatics outside his/her funeral protesting?? I don’t think so! But the sad thing is that people will probably protest their funerals just for spite. You know how Karma works.
This church’s message is God Hates Fags, God Hates America, and God Hates You! (Just check out their church website http://www.godhatesfags.com). Their church mission statement says that they exist to promote God’s judgment to the doomed (aka all of us). As a Christian myself I can say that this breaks my heart. We wonder why people hate and avoid church, and it’s people like this that send out the message that God hates That is so not what God is about not even in the slightest. The only reason He created this world in the first place was because He had so much love in His heart and He wanted to share it. He had no vessel to plant his love in. So He created us to simply love us. When we couldn’t quite meet the mark, and separated ourselves form God with our sin, He stepped in and GAVE UP his son to die on a cross (a criminals death, and he clearly wasn’t a criminal). He could have called down 10,000 angels at any point and pulled himself off of that cross. Want to know why he didn’t? HE LOVES US! If we had a God who hated us, would he send his SON to die on a cross? (I’m not a parent, but I know for a fact that I could never give up my child to die for a bunch of sinners! That’s Big Love!) If we had a God who hated us, would he create us in the first place? Would He continue to bless us with the simple act of breathing everyday?
Point is we ALL sin, every single one of us. So if you’re going to picket a funeral for a guy who “played†a gay man in a movie, or for soldiers who are fighting in Iraq for our freedom, then you might as well picket Aunt Edna’s funeral because she cussed when she lost Bingo. You can’t single out particular people and particular sins- fact is EVERYONE sins, EVERYONE messes up every once in a while. Even people in that sad sad Baptist church in Kansas mess up. Their teenagers lie to their parents, their kids probably steal candy from the local grocery store, they probably don’t drive the speed limit everywhere they go, they probably have coveted their neighbor’s belongings, and the number one: they have committed murder. It says in Matthew that anyone who hates their brother (or sister) has committed murder in their heart.
I’m not trying to say that I am blameless either. Ha! I’m FAR from it. That is the beauty of it all folks. Even with all of our crud and all of our mistakes we have a Father who doesn’t just send us straight to Hell. We have a loving Holy God who is willing to sacrifice His Son to provide a way for us to be with Him in heaven for eternity.
Basically what I’m trying to say is that I am praying for this church. I am praying that God opens their eyes to see that they are causing more hurt than good. I pray that God will soften their hearts to His Word and that they will see God for who He really is – a loving Father.
I don’t think they will picket his funeral as his family has announced his body is to be flown to Perth, Australia for burial, but meanwhile it’s at a funeral home in New York which has been named.
Either way, why picket his dead body? Heath is dead; only his family remains, and they didn’t make Brokeback Mountain. Yeah, real CHRISTIAN of them to deliberately inflict emotional injury on a family already shattered and mourning.
His family is what remains…they are hurting for the loss of their son. What right does this sorry excuse for a church have to picket a funeral? Is it going to change anyone and make them come to their church? NO! Is it going to allow anyone to experience God’s love? NO! This church is NOT Christian. Christain means Christ-like and their actions are certainly not Christ-like! They are very evil people and have no right doing what they do. I am so angered that these people would even have the nerve to call themselves Christains that my brain is stumped right now. Heath Ledger is no longer alive. What is picketing his funeral going to accomplish, other than more pain for his family and friends? I am so outraged at this cults actions that I don’t even know what to say anymore. RIP Heath Ledger. May God’s peace be with your family.

hey everyone. i’ll make this short because i could go on and on and on about these people but i would just like to say that i live in topeka, ks and have dealt with these people all my life. they are sick, and hateful and just horrible and i would like to apologize on behalf of them. nobody here likes them and i know i speak for a lot of people when i say that it is so embarassing and it makes kansas look really bad. but just know that not everyone here is like that and i absolutely LOVED heath ledger! major hottie. but anyways, i just wanted to let you all know that and hopefully you don’t get too bad of impression of people from kansas! we’re not all a bunch of crazy lunatics with outrageous beliefs! thanks!
