So, "Fredhead" is demeaning?

Funny, I don't feel demeaned.

Warning - Opinions and/or ideas follow.

Hello all,
I saw the "Fredhead" descriptor/label and thought to criticize the demeaning element inherent in its usage. Let's be a bit more intelligent and sympathetic with our labeling until we can rid ourselves of the habit altogether.

Nonetheless, I'm happy to have "happened by" since thus far many seem to be rather polite and forthcoming with their views.
I will be as honestly forthcoming as some of those before me.

I'm going to vote for Congressman Paul for some of the reasons I've read here. Additionally, I (sometimes) have this annoying habit of reading and learning from various sources (and weighing their relative importance/significance, etc, etc). And sometimes I let my "new knowledge" (current elucidation) affect my opinons.

"Nuff said."

Like Kevin Houston, Jim Gilmore (former Governor of Virgina) seemed promising to me but dropped out very early in the campaign. For Kevin and others keen on Mr. Gilmore, the former Governor implied (when I expressed my disappointment) that I shouldn't count him out for another run in the near future. And, by the by, I'm just a "regular person" who happened to take the oportunity to talk to the man at a straw poll in Virginia.

If you folks are looking for a "conservative" this time around and thinking about the "top tier" candidates, I worry about your hindsight. Really. If you still think that the Bush/Cheney team is actually conservative I can't help you out (nor would I waste my time trying).
With Senator Thompson (admittedly one of the few perceived "real conservatives") now out of the race, some of you must be at a level of cognitive dissonance that I can't relate to (at least regarding politics).

Who's left and what are you to do?

Research on your own perhaps? Ease that mind funk and discount my admitted support of one of the remaining candidates. The one ostracized by those with (just possibly) more wealth and power than you'll ever possess?

Will you continue to support false conservatives until Governor Gilmore runs again?

Will you vote "Democrat, Independent," etc.?

Why or why not?

It seems all my second choices have dropped out.

I supported Dr. Paul from the beginning, but I could have been happy with (from most acceptable to least):

Gov. Gilmore (can't think of his first name ... Charlie?)
Duncan Hunter (sure, he's corrupt, but other than that, a good conservative.)
Fred Thompson (but would he really do what he said, or was it just happy-talk)
Tom Tancredo (wasn't too happy about the anti-LEGAL immigrant rants, but other than that, pretty good conservative.)

People I could not possibly vote for (from most odious to least - both parties):

Hillary Clinton
John Edwards
John McCain
Mitt Romney
Mike Huckabee
Barack Obama
Rudy Giuliani

Strange as it may seem for a Ron Paul supporter, Rudy would be the least objectionable candidate left. I guess that says something about the quality (or lack thereof) of the other candidates...

If Ron Paul drops out, I guess I will have to vote third party.

As a Ron Paul supporter, to answer Dw, I like Kucinich and Richardson. Kucinich has a very similar foreign policy plan to Paul. Richardson, I feel also has some great ideas. However, they're both faring poorly at the moment. Hilary and Obama both approved Bush's blank check for Iraq. They would only spend more money that taxpayers cannot afford. I'd probably give my vote to a 3rd party, since none of the media's front runners have earned my vote.

Now that Fred is out. I was a fred drafter. I hope his support goes to Ron Paul. I will vote for Paul in PA. I don't like Rudy on the social issues and the rest are really big spending DEMs in GOP clothing.

Would a Ron Paul backer answer this?

f Paul and Fred aren't running, who are you willing to support?

Lender that is a real tough one, and I just came back here after hearing the news that Fred is going to leave. Bad news.

Romney would be the only consideration, but man,how can we trust that guy?

I dont know, this is a bad deal. Icant STAND any of the Dems. God, please save us from these people. Paul has a good shot but he isnt the perfect candidate. We need someone with his values, integrity, and record that is a little younger and has a little more presence. I dont like the idea of not voting, but its slim pickins out there.

Hey Kender,
If you haven't heard yet, Fred has dropped out. He was my only second choice to Ron Paul. So that being known, I guess I would have to go Third-Party, no Bloomberg, probably the Libertarian, or even Green candidate.

RE: Kender:

I myself am a RP supporter and have been out canvassing as well as doing other things to support the campaign in FL.

As for your question: i would write him in during the primaries. I do not like any of the other candidates. If he were to run third party, i would again, vote for him. If he were to drop out and not run third party there would be a choice that would have to be made based on the final two.

Mccain vs Hillary - Hillary
Mccain vs Barack(sp?) - Barack

Romney vs Hillary: Romney
Romney vs Barack: Barack

I would never ever vote for huck or judy, i consider them bush V2.

If Paul and Fred aren't running, who are you willing to support?

Third Party for me. Everyone else would follow suit, write in, or stay home.

From our perspective, the rest of the candidates are atrocious. Yes, I can safely speak for all of my peers on that one.
