Goldwater was a libertarian and most likely would support homosexual marriage and maybe even genocide through abortion. Hilary did not have far to fall when she became a liberal.

*sigh*

Time to start focusing on lower officeholders/candidates. The presidency is lost to fake liberals and/or fake liberals "lite". Time to focus on pressuring congresscritters more and more and more and to lect state officials who will stand up to the feds on encroachment on state authority (and/act or in place of the feds' lack of fulfilling its primary responsibilities in security--Oklahoma and Arizona acting to make illegals' lives less comfortable, for example).

The Republican party--at the very least at the national level--is now Dhimmicrap-Lite, for the most part. Once again, As R.L. Dabney observed concerning 19th Century "conservatism":

“Conservatism’s history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution, to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward to perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. This pretended salt hath utterly lost its savor: wherewith shall it be salted? Its impotency is not hard to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It tends to risk nothing serious for the sake of truth.”

First Duncan Hunter, then this.

However, I'm not going to give up on America just because the candidates aren't perfect. Although, of course, things could change, for now I will consider Huckabee. I will write his campaign as often as possible and lobby for a change to conservatism, explaining that this will win my vote. I will also lobby Chuck Norris. It's not time to quit yet. It's time to stand up for America!

Fred was right. We need to deserve to lead...and we don't.....where are teh differences with the left?

mccain? open borders - free speech = D

rudy? social liberal + 9-11 = mccain

(no difference between those two

huck? higher taxes + God + social liberal = political version of oral roberts with a bucket of Mao tossed on top

paul? brings home the troops and hands us a big fat "L" scoreboard in War, just like hill and hussien says they will.....

none of these SOBs will really secure the border, they will raise taxes (except paul, who may very well try to gut the government) they will not prosecute the GWOT and a few of them may well usher in a more socialist system with healthcare leading the way.

If we are going to hand the country over to socialist statists that pander, tax and over spend, let them have a D after their name.

Maybe it is time for a new party.
