If we actually did what the U.S. Constitution states then there would be no need for a “human life amendment” after all the Signers stated quite clearly their intent was to secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity and then granted everyone the due process of law before being deprived of the right to life.

Nonsense. If you accept that life begins at conception, abortion is a violent crime. Per Article I Section 8 and the 10th amendment, crimes are to be punished by the state.

It’s a state issue unless you pass an amendment.

Reminder to the regulars: I’m one of the most outspoken proponents of a literal interpretation of the Constitution.

Ya’ll can amend it however you like. In fact, I implore you to.

What I can’t stand is the idea that we can just reinterpret it willy-nilly and BOTH parties have done just that regularly and unashamedly.

O.K. then Kerwin, why don’t we start with the first amendment then. Lets change that one to the first commandment. Instead of freedom of religion, lets have no other god before Yahweh. What Huckabee just said was a wide open comment, that if we were to accept, would leave things in a dangerous posisiton.

Of course it is also a ridiculous statement he could never get past Congress.

So what is you religion you are trying to force on everyone else? I suppose your God is money or maybe something else. If you knew the Signers of the U.S. Constitution then you would realize that most if not all were trying to please their God. If we actually did what the U.S. Constitution states then there would be no need for a “human life amendment” after all the Signers stated quite clearly their intent was to secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity and then granted everyone the due process of law before being deprived of the right to life. Children whom are unborn are clearly considered our posterity and so have their right to life protected by the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments just like the rest of us.

It’s about time!!

So it’s ok to define marriage is between 2 men or 2 women and killing unborns is choice but it’s not ok to amend the constitution to protect marriage and lives of the unborns.
